1. Hah, yeah it's because of that attitude that so few shops stock them in the UK now. It's a real shame, great basses, shonky people skills!
2. Thanks mate! A lovely bass indeed, it'll certainly make its new owner very happy. If it's not sold by the time the Guitar Show is on, I'll mention it to people there. My 5 string will have the same finish, can't wait to get my grubby hands on it.
3. Damn, sorry to hear you're going to move it on! How much are you thinking for it? I'd like to hear how it sounds passive, do you have any audio of it? Well let's face it, you definitely can't go wrong with a good jazz!
4. Hello sexy Warwick thread! Damn, I'm going to have to stick mine up here too, I've got an old workhorse Dolphin Pro II that's certainly seen better days but she's still serving me well. I'll take some proper pictures sometime to show off her battle scars but here's the only picture I can find at the moment. There's also my 6 string thumb that's leaving the fold, boo!
5. I'll be getting my 5 string Excess hopefully early next month, when the the Vigier crew are all back from NAMM. I'll take a few snaps and post them up when I can. Also, I'll be taking it along to the Guitar Show in Birmingham in Feb, it'll be on the Vigier stand along with their usual collection of awesomeness. We're also playing on the Saturday, I'm going to use the 5 string, and a 4 string Excess like Sifi2112's (but not modified - great looking bass by the way dude! what made you decide to make the mod? I'm guessing that's just volume left in there). Also they've started to distribute Fuzzrocious in the UK and Ben's got a collection of them on his pedalboard that he'll be using for the gig, and he should have it kicking about at the stand as well. Sexy pedals! Anyway, if anyone wants a tinker on my shiny spanky new bass, you're more than welcome!
6. Thanks! I've currently got my mitts on a 4 string Excess, and I'll be taking delivery of a sexy new 5 string Excess next month! Oh don't you worry, I will indeed!
7. Sold sold sold! 1998 Warwick Thumb bolt on 6 string bass Basslines pickups fitted in factory Built in Germany Active/passive push pull volume knob Pickup blend knob Stacked bass/treble knob Warwick strap locks recently replaced - they’re very secure Weight: approx 6 kg Comes with Warwick hard case Neck: wenge Fretboard: wenge Body: ovangkol Frets: 24 brass Nut: Just-A-Nut II Condition: great. There are a few dings but nothing major. I tried to show them in pictures as much as possible. Location: Brighton I would prefer collection only, but we can arrange something if you’re far away. UK only. £1150! I’ve decided to go through the painful decision of parting ways with my lovely ‘98 6 string Warwick Thumb BO. The only reason why I’m letting this go is to help fund a new Vigier, and I simply can’t justify hanging onto too many basses nowadays. I’ve owned it since 2007 and it’s served me very well in that time. It’s only been gigged a few times, so most playing has been at home - in a smoke free house. It's just had a set up, clean and new set of strings, the frets are now super shiny. I used a few different Music Nomad products on it, it's come up really nicely. Tone on this beastie is great, it’s got that classic Warwick sound that I love, with a nice broad range of dynamics. For tappers and such, the action is nice and low making it a nice and easy to play. It’s not too low to cause any buzz, and it still allows you to really dig in when playing finger style - I’m quite an aggressive player so really appreciate being able to really get some good attack on the strings without any farting or buzzing. There are a couple of dings but nothing major, I’ve tried to highlight them as much as possible in the pictures. I can give you my strap if you want it, it’s an old leather one. If not, that’s all good!
8. Hi, is this still available? If so, are there any pics?
9. Hi Jas, thanks for getting in touch about it, but this has just sold.
10. It's an awesome stand! I don't really have the space for it though, well I do, but not space that can be used for guitars. I am indeed, I'm living just off Cowley Road and Iffley Road so it's quite easy to get to. Where will you be coming from?
11. I've had this stand for a while, it's awesome and nice and furry. And sturdy. There is loads of space, it's easy to fit guitars, basses and you can even shoehorn an acoustic or two in there. I used to have 3 Thumb basses on there, a musicman 4 string, an old ibanez geeter and an acoustic with no problems. Here's a bit of info I found online: The ultimate storage solution for your home, studio or that big gig. In good condition but there are a few scuffs on the outside. It works very well though. I would prefer collection for this as it's rather big, Sold!
12. Hi all, I'm selling the pads taken from my Roland TD8 electric drum kit, in good condition but with stick marks on top as to be expected on used drum pads. They work well though, dual triggering is a nice feature too. I'm only selling due to upgrading to mesh heads. Each pad is £25, either collection from Oxford or Abingdon during the day, or we can work out postage.
13. Hi all, I'm parting ways with my interface to make way for a new computer and some other bits. It's an M-Audio Firewire 1814 interface that's in great condition and fully working, comes with firewire lead and power adaptor. Unboxed. I do have the driver CD somewhere but you can download them from the M-Audio website. 14. Do you still have the Woodchipper? And do you by any chance know of any demos or samples of it? They're supposed to sound like a right proper beast!
15. Huh. Intriguing. I've not seen his crazy mug before, it's nicely played but my senses are all kerfuffled. A slapped Rush song. Really? Ok, I'm officially confused and can't work out if I like this or not.
16. I'm one of the masses with a Super Twelve and GB Shuttle 9.0. I've tried a few different heads through the cab and I've got to say that the ole Barefaced does justice to them all. A guy in another band recently put a Tiny Terror through it and I've got to give credit to Orange on that, it sounded really awesome. I'm starting to get a bit of GAS for a Markbass though, I'd love to try a TTE800 though it. Has anyone tried a Warwick LWA1000 through one by any vague chance? I've not played any Warwick gear for years but curious about this one.
17. What a great combination - I've got a Super 12 and the 9.2 and it sounds freaking great. onepack, get it - you won't be disappointed!

Bass cleaning

Thanks for the info y'all! It's all very handy. I'm starting to think I really should take more pride in cleaning my old beast. It was a mess when I got it but looks all sparkly at the moment, I've set it up nicely and it feels great after a lot of tlc.
Hi Snarf, Yes it is a wonderful one...Rockhal The music scene in Luxembourg is very active and diversified. I am very happy so far. Touchig to your bass cleaning concerns...and on a more serious note, if you intend to clean properly your bass or especially a high end bass like Smith, Fodera etc the only products that I really trust are: For the laquered finish: Smith Pro Formula Polish For the oil finish and fingerboard: Smith Classic Wax Polish The lemon oil is used on a large scale for the classical stringed instruments (for the fingerboard) hence it is ok for all basses and guitars. The only problem ( which is not so well known in the Rock'n'Roll area) is that you have to put very little and not two kilos...lol ( it's not beer) I tryed everything on the market, please believe me, and since a very long time these two products rule. Best
That's great to know, cheers! I'm in Luxembourg a few times a year, it's good to know there's a good music scene there. Hopefully I'll get the chance to check it out!

Bass cleaning

Thanks y'all! I've also heard that about lemon oil and have avoided it for a while too, agreed - this is the problem that I've also come across before (not a lot of facts). I'm going to give the stuff I've got a go for a while as I found some of the cleaners I used before gave me itchy fingers and left some crap on my fretboard too, but good call on the brasso! Off topic - TheSiberian, what's the music scene like in Luxembourg? Are there many good venues there to check out?
20. How much time and effort do people spend cleaning their pride and joy? Historically I've been quite lazy and just given my basses a bit of wipe when I've wanged on some new strings. This year I was working at the Great British Guitar Show again and took my old beaten up Warwick Dolphin Pro II, which has certainly seen better days, and gave it a serious working over with some Music Nomad stuff to see how well the stuff works. Like a fool, I didn't take pictures but I really don't think they would have shown up the results well enough. The next time I clean up a bass properly, I'll have to do a diary of it because the results really were awesome. It's now spankingly shiny and the frets look new! Love it. One tip I picked up that's good for us 'wick players to sort out those brass frets that get quite mucky and tarnished easily - use cymbal cleaner on them and they come up nice and shiny! Same with any brass hardware, Just-A-Nut and things like that. I would only use this one though, I don't know what any other brands are like http://www.musicnomadcare.com/cymbalcleaner.html I've got to say, I think this stuff is awesome. Has anyone else tried it out? http://www.musicnomadcare.com/video.html
21.
Just before Christmas about 10 years back I saw a virtually new Vigier Surfretter fretless guitar including case, gold coloured hardware( no not bass) not a single mark on it in a local CC shop up for sale about £700 I offered them £400 which they refused. They insisted they would sell it on line. I told them why it was such a specialist instrument and that they would never sell it for such a high price but they were sure they would sell it. I went back in the new year and it was still on sale I offered them £300 and we settled on £350. Bingo. At the time they could be seen in guitar magazines for £1300.
Ahh, you came to our Vigier stand at the Great British Guitar Show. I was thinking of your story when I saw this thread! What a find!
22. Nice Spector! I love playing outdoor gigs like that, it looks like a great one to lose your festival playing virginity with too. It's great you enjoyed it as well!
23. Sold sold sold! A great pedal that's served me well over the years and I'll be sad to see it go, but needs must to free up a bit of valuable pedal board real estate. The pedal works perfectly, in fact it'll be in use until I wave goodbye to it as the postman carries it away. Cosmetically, there are some scuffs on the front so it doesn't look perfect but it's built like a tank (see pics). £25 posted! Now sold!
