1.
Really? I've got an old MF135 tractor but I didn't know the engine noise was protected. Good excuse for this (although not a MF tractor):
I aways thought Harley Davidsons sounded a lot like tractors.
 2.
thanks Bill im not going to find anybody round here with the time or inclination TBH! Ive ordered the kappalite 3015LF and im gonna bung it my old ashdown 115 deep mag cab or my warwick wca 115 and hope for the best! Trial and error on this one im afraid!

+1. The LF is a subwoofer driver, with scant highs. It also has less sensitivity than the standard 3015, and requires a larger box for good results. OP, if you can cancel the LF for a standard 3015 you should do so.
If it was Blue Aran you bought it off you won't have any problem changing the order just give them a call.
 3.
Yes, I do understand how Ebay works. My selling cap is 750 quid, so I couldn't even put a reasonable reserve price on it.
The sellers cap on ebay just means that if you have sold over a certain amount that month you can't sell anymore until ebay confirm your address. The way they do that is send a letter with a number on it to your address. You input that number on ebay and automatically your limit goes up. My limit went from £850 per month to over £3000 per month. Just request a higher limit and ebay will issue the confirmation letter for you. Also this thread shows how dating Fenders through serial numbers, dates of manufacture or 3/4 bolt necks is not an exact science http://basschat.co.uk/topic/166508-fender-jazz-bass-1976-for-sale/
 4.
I'll see if I can pick up a cheap mini soldering iron and give it a bash. So damn annoying, was grooving to some Prince - Let's Work then.... silence
Maplins on dalry rd will give you a soldering iron and a pack of solder for about £10. Look up youtube videos on how to solder before you start messing about with it though.

These are top of the range speakers and because they're neodynium they're really light too. Because it's brand new it will take a while to loosen up. You can use this 25 hz sound file from barefaced cabs to run through it for a few hrs to get a full bass response quicker if you like. http://barefacedbass...information.htm This basschat topic may convince you that you've done the right thing http://basschat.co.uk/topic/164769-what-a-difference-a-speaker-makes-eminence-love-enclosed-within/page__p__1494803__hl__eminence%20kappalite__fromsearch__1#entry1494803
 6. For all the Jazz geeks out there......Interestingly the rear pickup is directly in line with the tone knob, like a 70's reissue.
 7.
eminence kappalite, eeeek seen the price of em!!!
Try another with a similiar frequency range but with a normal driver. The neodynium driver in the kappalite pushes the price up. They use the neodynium to make the speaker much lighter but there's no difference in the sound with a normal driver (it's just heavier). The eminence Kappa is just £68. The kappa pro is £100. I just bought an eminence kappa for £40 from Blue Aran as graded stock. It had a small crease on the cone but was tested and sounds fine. Received it next day - great service. 8.
hello well im looking for a 210 cab to add to my 8 ohm 115, so far no luck! Obviously i want an 8 ohm 210 to add so i get the required 4 ohm 500w max load. However havent seen too many 8 ohm cabs but a few 4 ohm 210's out there. Im sure this has been asked before but has anyone run this config - one x 8 ohm and one x 4 ohm cabs into an amp with a 4 ohm minimum impedance? Did you blow up? Is it wise? (probably no!) Any advice greatly appreciated!
Buy a decent quality 15 inch speaker, like a eminence kappalite, and fit it in your Ashdown cab. These are the ones Barefaced cabs use in their compacts and have an extended frequency range. That should get rid of the wooliness and be cheaper than buying a new cab.
 9.
He's a she. Sent me a text asking I correspond via email. Have done twice now. No response.....holding breath......can't keep holding breath......
Watch out. When somethings too good to be true............it usually is.
 10. He's either desperate for cash or it's a scam. Nobody sells a £600/700 bass for £300.

 12. I hate to think what that filth by the bridge consists of?
 13.
All you have to do is play one to rid you of these unwanted desires.
I suspect you're right. After all Paul originally bought it because Fenders were too expensive and left handed ones were even more expensive. For years he played other basses and for a long time played a Yamaha.
 14. Fender American Standard Jazz Bass Black S-1 Switch, Hard Case £300. I sent a messgae to him to say he's selling it too cheaply and to sell it on basschat instead at a decent price but no answer yet. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fender-american-standard-jazz-bass-black-s-1-switch-hard-case/110884252
 15.
It took me 25 years to pick up a Jazz Bass for exactly the same reason. I've had 3 over the last 4 years. You live and learn.
Make that 7.
 16. He sounds like an arse (there's a lot of them about in the music business). I would bear this in mind if you ever decide to deal with him again and make sure you get a written contract. If he can't give you a contract you can't do the gig.
 17. At a local venue I play they replaced their old Ashdown Mag 4x10 with an Ampeg Classic 4x10. What an incredible improvement in the sound, even though the bass amp is still the same (an old Ashdown Mag 600). It's also much louder than the old Ashdown cab as well. The Ampeg classic is a pretty expensive cab at £500 to £600 new but if you can find one used for your budget I really recommend it.
 18. The early nineties MIJ Squier basses have a black truss rod adjuster at the headstock like todays mexican Fenders. This one is natural. I know because I have one.
 19.
Ashdown amp are great. I love the sound, it's rich, detailed and sounds great with a P bass. For around £300 you can pick up a 2x10 ABM combo, these are much better than the mag series.
I think he means secondhand (probably from the for sale section on basschat).
 20. I'm playing the Harvest Blues festival over in Monaghan Ireland this weekend. Come up and say hello if you're around.
 21.
If you play other bands' music, you are classed as a cover band. Most jazz bands and Orchestras are also cover bands. If you cover one band,s songs you are immediately classed ad a tribute band. We are lucky in that Steely Dan never had an image, so no need for wigs etc. If you enjoy the music, then it doesn't matter what the bando or artwist looks like.
I've seen your band on youtube you're sh*t hot! I don't think you have to worry about being at the cheesy end of the spectrum.
 22.
Is the SVTII pro vintage now? I sort of considered them hold up example of the compromises in modern amp construction.
I think the engineer said they were introduced in the nineties so not 'vintage' ampeg but definitely 'expensive'.
 23. Hmmmmm....That's a bass you've got there. I wonder what it would look like with all the bits connected up to one another?
 24.
I'm assuming he's just miming. In which case, what's the point of him bothering? Edit: If he's not miming I'd give him a 10/10 for vocals and 7/10 for the dancing. I'd give a 5/10 for the whole Micheal Jackson experience because most tributes are a bit naff.
Although I do have some friends who did an Allman Brothers tribute at the fringe recently which was pretty good.
