These are top of the range speakers and because they're neodynium they're really light too. Because it's brand new it will take a while to loosen up. You can use this 25 hz sound file from barefaced cabs to run through it for a few hrs to get a full bass response quicker if you like. The neodynium driver in the kappalite pushes the price up. They use the neodynium to make the speaker much lighter but there's no difference in the sound with a normal driver (it's just heavier). The eminence Kappa is just £68. The kappa pro is £100. I just bought an eminence kappa for £40 from Blue Aran as graded stock. It had a small crease on the cone but was tested and sounds fine. These are the ones Barefaced cabs use in their compacts and have an extended frequency range. That should get rid of the wooliness and be cheaper than buying a new cab.

He sounds like an arse (there's a lot of them about in the music business). I would bear this in mind if you ever decide to deal with him again and make sure you get a written contract. If he can't give you a contract you can't do the gig.

At a local venue I play they replaced their old Ashdown Mag 4x10 with an Ampeg Classic 4x10. What an incredible improvement in the sound, even though the bass amp is still the same (an old Ashdown Mag 600). It's also much louder than the old Ashdown cab as well. The Ampeg classic is a pretty expensive cab at £500 to £600 new but if you can find one used for your budget I really recommend it.

The early nineties MIJ Squier basses have a black truss rod adjuster at the headstock like todays mexican Fenders. This one is natural. I know because I have one.
