1.
I used to have three of these, grey red and blue, fantastic synths. If I can raise the money then I'll have it, will keep you posted :-)
oooh, red and blue, nice. Yeah I have held on to this for years mainly for sentimental reasons (got it when I was 13 or so to play Sweet Dreams by Eurthymics). Times must and happy for it to go to a good BC home.
2. I loves me my puma and would not hesitate to upgrade to the new model. All too often ignored for markbass and genz Benz.
3. that's my Fender MM!!! Just picked it up after you left. needed shielded. Chris also set it up real nice. great work.
4. i ordered a frantabit direct from Taylor through the IE website - no issues, sent within a week in my hands a week or so later. A few extra quid obviously in customs. Dead easy. Taylor seems friendly and happy to discuss needs. Frantabit was too much for me but I have my eye on IE pedals for the future as they are pretty immense.
5. these are great basses made all the better by John East's pre. Even although I have the natural, I think the sunburst is nicer. Come on people this is a great jazz.
6. is the code on this the code of a specific Vaio laptop?? Will it fit any Vaio?? I have a Vaio which hasn't had a battery now for a year or so. I would like a genuine sony replacement and not one of these chinese ones that require you to flash your bios etc. I have tried google but to no avail.
7. form an orderly queue lads!!! I am over tomorrow. Great to see Chris settling in, getting new and old custom.
8. 10 mins walk for me too. i have got out of the Edinburgh scene so no offence to those others doing good repair/set up business locally but I've had a couple of poor shop based experiences recently so this is a god send for me.
9. finally popped in to see Chris yesterday to catch up with some long overdue work I need done. Very impressed with Chris' obvious expertise, etc., will feedback once work completed but it's magic to have such a skilled craftsman just round the corner. Can now sit down with the expert and get a proper set up!!!
10. emailed. your moby numbers not working for me at least.
11. if you want to split I will take the wireless hot hand.
12. i had a taurus 2 with moog rogue. fcukin murder to set up both in terms of luggin around and also getting in sync/tune with everyone. Binned it. Taurus 3 way out my league, but with new MIDI capabilities, this bad boy can enter near the top of the GAS list.
13. Point made. maybe good for us now to get back to helping Ryan. If Linus27 is right then it sounds like that should be possible.
14.
Not me Boo!
not me either !! either delay would be good but slight preference for Dr Scientist.
15. cut the guy some slack. He's explained the situation. Not a session guy or pretending to be one. Just doing someone a favour. I assume the guy who's asked him to stand in has some idea what he's getting. More importantly, he's asked for help, not a lecture. So if you cant help, move on to another thread.

Myrtle Pedals?
Hello chaps, I don't often Google myself (honest) but I'm at my parents and didn't have a bookmark for my Soundcloud. Hope the Corvid is treating you good now Panther. Rich I've actually tweaked the Ei due to feedback about it's unwieldy volume/low end, my Soundcloud has been updated with this new version. Would be happy to get you a new one to try out and compare, should be a bit more aggressive, less woofy and with more control from the knob.
alright Hugh. Funny you should say that. I was going to get in touch to ask whether we could discuss some volume control!!! It's awesome sound wise but it's just too hot and I find it overpowers everything around it. I will PM to arrange something.
17.
GAS for a WT550 and one more XLT or XST
i wish to commend you not only on your very excellent bass set up, which is indeed excellent, but your dedication to clean lines and order in home decoration. Many photos on here display a total disregard for a well ordered home. Yours sir, is a welcome exception.
18. cool looking bass. The spec suggests this is indeed a super-Jazz. good luck with sale.
19. I/P pad = it varies impedance to allow for variation in hotness of input (from active/passive basses). Dave's pedals are great. Depends what you need - VT1 will give you the basic valve OD tone you are looking for. VT2 dual channel will allow a basic tone with a switchable second channel which can be right up to crazy distortion (not quite fuzz). Dave does variations on these (right up to rack mounted units). Check out his website. There are also reviews of a few of the models in the effects review section. sorry dont have clips of my VT2 dual channel (now sold, solely cause it is massive).

21. familiar but great topic. I have focused on the basic "food groups". So first of all basses - I stopped playing 10 years or so ago, sold a heap of basses but kept my trusty Precision (loaded with hot EMGs). I got rid of a stingray (ouch! literally wake up screaming at that), a 4001 (didn't much get on with that), a Thumb fretless (my technique stank so it was a waste, still best bass I have ever owned), a couple of Jazz basses etc. Had a sense of what I needed when I got back into playing after raising a family. As well as my precision, I now have a good quality Jazz (with a versatile John East pre) and a Corvette $$5 (not sure why i didn't go for the Stingray, but was trying to recreate a hybrid of the stingray and the Thumb). So that's me covered the precision, jazz and humbucker sounds. Next food group, backline. Finally got a decent contemporary amp (Tecamp - the dark horse of the D class battle) and good quality speakers (Barefaced). My concession to GAS comes through pedals. Which risks being the black hole of the tone search - once you move beyond the "bass into amp into speakers" holy trinity you keep on needing more and more and more to deliver that imagined perfect sound (well I do). Still probably got there now. Finally the set up that delivers everything I thought I needed but couldn't care about when I was 20. Does it sound as good as it should? eh, no. To be fair, sometimes yes. But all the other variables are more often than not in the way of delivering the perfect sound (venue, sound system, band etc). So this is eternal, frustrating but fun. It's my first love (after my family) so why not. I love the science and art of it. I know next to nothing but hunger to hear about the next thing that might take me the next step on my journey.
22. yeah, I've subscribed. Keep em coming. Feel is excellent.
23. the original touring basses got a bit of a panning in terms of QC and set up. These are the cheaper version. Essential you try before you buy to assess whether it's a decent one I would have thought. Otherwise save your £200 and get something decent on here. You can probably pick up a Warwick Thumb for that the way things are going!!!
