I had heard some good things about these basses, on account of the Custom Shop pickups, light(er)weight tuners and overall finish, so I couldn’t resist the chance to grab this one owner Precision. I have always been a sucker for White Fenders and especially so when combined with a glossy maple board! The bass is beautifully finished and plays and sounds superb. I was surprised at the thickness/depth of the neck, it has far more meat on it than I was expecting, but that is probably because I have spent a few months playing the old style C necks which are wide but shallow. It has a set of old Rotos at the moment but I will most likely swap them for some La Bella flats. I have not used flats on a through body for a long time, any advice as to what I should look out for would be greatly appreciated. I wouldn’t expect to remove them to put on another bass in the future!

I had the pleasure in meeting Ander yesterday when he came to collect an AO Jazz from me. All communications throughout were timely and courteous and sent with nice humour too! He did everything he said he would do and actually collected the bass sooner than expected. Such a nice genuine guy to deal with and I hope we meet again in the not too distant future. Transactions such as this make BassChat a great forum!

Nice reduction by £3250!!! -
They seem okay to me….. When I say more tension than La Bellas I am a recent convert to their Low Tension Flats, so that was my comparison!

I believe they do now, but these are at least 10 years old. Found them in my spare string drawer! Not sure if they used coloured ball ends back then?

They certainly have greater tension than TIs and La Bellas I have used. I do now now think they are Rotosounds - thanks for your help.

Are you sure.....! 😁

Bought a lovely Precision from Paul and couldn’t be happier with the whole transaction. A great guy to deal with, so buy / sell with confidence.

My callipers are not great, but will try later.

They came out of my old string box and have probably been there for the best part of 10 years - hence why I couldn’t remember! I have TIs on a Jazz and Precision and am fairly sure they are not the same as either of those. I certainly used Rotos in the past, so after your input, am pretty sure that’s what they are. Thank you!

That sounds like a great idea!

I will be interested to hear your thoughts! -
The ball ends are all brass - no fancy colours.

Can anyone please confirm the make of these flats? Bright red silks at both ends. Thank you.

Oh no! I am a huge fan of Olympic White and White Blonde finishes on Js and Ps but I do have a Sonic Blue J too! With that lovely grain on the body, I would be so tempted to think of White Blonde....... A tricky decision to make but whatever you decide, it will be a stunner!

Tim bought a Fender Bass book from me and paid immediately. Excellent communications throughout made for a great transaction. Thanks again Tim!
