  1. Probably get a better resale value for the Alien as they are a 'known' bass. Guild are great, but not a particularly known model (or brand when it comes to bass).
  2. This video came up on the one that @ubit posted. The description at the top is great. The rest is a bit of a let down.
  3. Looks like at lot of waste going on in some of those scenes.
  4. Quality choice as always! Rhythm guitar is soooo tasty.
  5. Guitarist is the lovely Eliana Cargnelutti. Toured with her last year and did a couple of gigs with her at the start of this year. Her blues band is great - absolutely top bass player and drummer.
  6. Having a shot at a bass guitar derivative of Giorgi Moroder's bassline for I Feel Love. Has to be very derivative as the original synth line is several layers (including drums) blending in to one another. Really just a workout to get a really nice steady repeating pattern going.
  7. Lindsey Buckingham was in FM? Do the Overland brothers know of this?
  8. 'Everything I do is etched in mud'
  9. He also severed his thumb in a freak gardening accident with a garden gnome 🤘
  10. Try this thread to find a friendly local Basschatter who may be able to help:
  11. I'd have loved to have been a Pip!
  12. At least this post has a bass link.
  13. Whereabouts does this go in your signal path?
  14. Back when they were current, I much preferred the remixes of Depeche Mode singles.
  15. Just take a quick listen to Pick of the Pops Take 2 (if it still exists) to hear how awful the vast bulk of pop music has been throughout the decades (and that's from a fan of pop music).
  16. The reissue of Dusty in Memphis has great sleeve notes by Jerry Wexler, Tom Dowd and Arif Mardin telling the story of the recording. Well worth a read.
  17. Spoke to my pal who plays at a very high level and he's hearing that his level of gigs won't be back until 2022!
  18. Now that we are getting into discussions on lower priced basses, a couple of points to bear in mind. Some brands have absolutely awful resale value. Cort, Ibanez, Warwick, G&L all make excellent basses for mid range budget, but will not hold their value anywhere near any Fender/Squier. I think Sire are holding their secondhand value at the moment. Essential to bear in mind if you are thinking that you will want to upgrade to your higher budget later on. Second thing with residual values is that higher priced versions of the above mentioned will drop their prices even further, so when you do go to upgrade, and you are confident buying secondhand you will get much better value. Good luck with the search and enjoy the ride!
  19. At this stage, something with a comfortable neck, and something that is both comfortable standing and seated. As @lownote12 says, there is plenty available at a fraction of your budget. A passive bass with PJ (Precision and Jazz) pickup configuration at around £3/400 would serve you well for a long time (or at least until GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome - takes over)!
  20. Birthday CD time - first up Kiwanuka. Lovely stuff. Wasn't convinced by the single when I heard it on the radio late last year, but it grew on me, and the production and musical motifs really work in album form.
  21. Just seen we share a birthday. Happy birthday for Tuesday 🎂
  22. Totally agree with you on Rush @ubit. Rush are phenomenal. I can't stand them, but there is no denying how good they are. I do however stand by my original suggestion, and do think there are plenty of other overrated acts mentioned on here.
  23. Was thinking the same on another thread. Pub a drank in as a teenager everyone had to keep the noise down when Minder was on! No catch up, +1 or Youtube then.
