  1. I had just looked to see what interesting music show was on BBC4 tonight. Guess I'll have to make my own entertainment.
  2. Now that is a good call, although I have seen some love from others on here for his excellent later material (check out the album Frank).
  3. Catching back up with Corduroy after @TheGreek mentioned them on the Underrated thread. I guess they just didn't 'fit in'. Great musicianship, good songs - well worth investigating if you like old soul, or crossover jazz styles.
  4. I knew Jim briefly when he worked at Mojo. Nice guy.
  5. OK, just for fun, overrated in my book has to be Bryan Adams. A 27th rate Bruce Springsteen, and yet everyone loves THAT song. Underrated - an amazing band who had a fabulous hit in the 80s but also have a great body of work that nobody else except @BigRedX have heard of, Furniture.
  6. Bit of a throwback to my Big Band rhythm guitar playing days, enjoying Ella Fitzgerald sings the Duke Ellington Songbook. Lovely!
  7. OK, I'll knock that ball in a slightly different direction, albeit staying on German TV. This to me is how live performances ought to be.
  8. I shouldn't work...and it doesn't 😖
  9. Like that a lot. I think French is my favourite musical language (despite a lack of understanding)!
  10. Could have been seeing Hamish tonight in Chichester 😕
  11. Caught this on Huey Morgan's show this morning - blooming gorgeous!
  12. You have one hell of a worm infestation there.
  13. Documentary last night on BBC4 and now on iPlayer. Equal parts fascinating and sad (just to see/remember how quick his downfall was). Bonus is there are two more stills used in the documentary of Elvis with a P Bass that I don't think have been widely circulated before! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09kkkbx/elvis-the-rebirth-of-the-king
  14. So is that drummer. Snare is tighter than a very tight thing in the middle of tight week.
  15. Heard a track from a Misty in Roots Peel Session this afternoon on 6 Music. Couple of complete sessions on youtube. Here's one for your collective pleasure.
  16. Interesting pickups. Great work. Oh, and nice vintage sewing machine 😎
  17. Just added a bit of rock to my list - Ramble On. This could keep me busy until lockdown is over!
  18. You want a good job on Ray Charles do you know the John Mayer Trio album with Pino and Steve Jordan?
  19. Working on three at the moment, purely to get into the habit of learning parts and to improve my chops. Added to the Narada Michael Warden track I posted earlier, I'm also working on Too Hard to Handle - Duck Dunn original - can finally remember it between session (did put up a lack of memory thread, as this has been a big issue for me), and Gil Scot Heron's The Bottle. Need to add another two tomorrow to start really building up my knowledge base!
  20. What @Lozz196 says. I've only had limited experience with Mark Bass, but there is an inherent warmth/dullness (according to your take on it) built in. It really isn't down to it being lightweight, as there is a world of difference between many of the lightweight brands. So many on here love the Tonehammer. Me, I couldn't get a decent sound out of it! Try out as many as you can (yes, I know, not the easiest thing to do even without lockdown) and have some fun doing it!
  21. Some lovely old school tone from Bob Babbitt:
