There's something about the Faces that always makes me wish I was involved - even on record they just sound like they are really enjoying themselves.

Just a thought, but if you're spending all that money on some amazing exotic wood, beautifully crafted and finished by a top luthier, perhaps they are fining you for having the audacity to spoil their artistry by sticking on a pickgaurd

(I only use the 5th string as I'm not too comfortable playing in open position and hate playing too far up when in D but I guess they read something else into it).

Also, using your Led Zep/Joe Cocker analogy, I'm sure most people in the audience wouldn't notice if you hadn't nailed JPJ's exact lines. Sure the singer and the guitarist would have there work cut out, maybe a handful of air drummers would know all the exact drum patterns, but, just like the BBC "I'm In A Rock & Roll Band", no-one cares about us so enjoy yourself!

Nigel, just been listening to some of Kit's music - it is great stuff. I'm sure you get enough buzz from one gig were the audience really gets it and has a great time to make up for all the knocks along the way. I love playing - was most recently playing rock & roll standards with some C&W thrown in - I was getting a buzz from getting the root/fifth basslines to sit just right (not much else you can do with them)! But to be involved in something a bit special and with the level of artistic merit that Kit has must be very rewarding. Keep at it and I have my fingers crossed that some Umm and Err rep stumbles upon you one night!

Would it not be more what the bands want to get back from the site - if it is bookings a function bands then optimisation would be a key issue, pub bands would probably just want something nice they could refer people to, and if it was for building a fanbase for an originals band then surely there would be other criteria such as social networking? IMO, I do think it is nicer to have a website with it's own unique domain name rather than (or in addition to) Reverbnation/Myspace etc.

The audiences want stuff they know and they still think Mustang Sally is cool even if we all grimace when it is suggested/requested. As, I'm afraid are most of Bilbo's most hated jazz classics! Comes down to whether you are a crown pleasing commercial tart (like me) or an artiste!

Not sure if they are the right things to compare as the two players are trying to (edit, are) achieving different things. I don't think in the Tamas clip he is trying to groove as such.

If the copyright owner wants to protect their copyright they can issue a cease and desist to stores selling the item - this happened when MCA took Charly Records to the cleaners over ownership of the Chess label. MCA issued injunctions against all record shops that didn't remove all the Charly material from their stock. IIRCC the stores had to take the financial loss as well. Also, customs would impound these if they spotted them.

Funnily enough, I was playing one of them in the car taking my mum home and thought it may be too morbid for her (she has a terminal illness) - she actually asked me to buy her a copy!!
