1. Somebody is going to be very happy Shame it isn't me
2. Argh, dream bass! Somebody buy my ACG!!!
3. Sensible offers welcome. I'd also be interested in MXR compressor, chorus or envelope filter pedals in PX.
4. I put my basses in Mono Sleeves. Plenty padded enough for the use you describe above. The Vertigo is a nice bag too and would probably fit behind the seats as well, but I think the M80 would be too wide. Great bags, very well made.
5. I have to say the Mk III body shape is pretty much the perfect design of any bass for me. That walnut in particular looks amazeballs
6. I've used Dunlops for years and never had a problem. I much prefer them to Schaller. Once saw a '68 Les Paul without straplocks hit the ground when it came off a strap. It wasn't pretty
7.
It's not terrible by any means. I wouldn't buy it, but I've heard an awful lot worse.
+1. I didn't like the SR at the time, but have come to appreciate them over the years, bit like Duran Duran..... I can see it going down a storm at gigs though.
8. Ben bought an ACG off me. He was a total gent and a pleasure to deal with, and I'd happily transact with him again
9. I sold a set of strings to Andy. The sale was as smooth as the flats he bought!
10. I'm guessing it's this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEmESOsn5yQ
11.
Has anyone seen/played the 'Joker' model by these guys? I've seen a video, but it's of a 30" scale...have they done a 34" version?
I'm in discussion with Adrian about a Joker at the moment. I asked him that very question, and he said the longest scale he can do for that model is 32".
12.
Edit: never mind, just read the ad properly!
13.
Aww man!! I really want one of these, but as im recently unemployed any bass related purchases will he severely frowned upon
Sorry to hear that Lee. Hope you get sorted soon
14.
Will they work on standard strap buttons? Thanks.
I think they'd only work with regular strap buttons if you use rubber washers or some such to hold the strap securely.
15. Popped these on my bass and took them straight off again, as I am too wedded to heavy gauge nylon flats to change - an expensive experiment to confirm what I already knew! They are cut for a 4 over 1 headstock. The La Bella site says: La Bella Strings is taking a new approach to flat wound bass strings. The result is the Low Tension Flexible Flats series. Using the same techniques that have made the Deep Talkin’ Bass strings the best-selling flat wounds on the market, La Bella has adjusted the construction to create a lighter and more flexible alternative to the classic heavier flats. The Low Tension Flexible Flats deliver the same classic sound but without a floppy-string effect associated with other light tension flat wound strings. These hand-wound and hand-polished strings are equipped with round cores for flexibility and narrower ribbon wire to achieve that unrivalled smooth feeling uniquely characteristic to La Bella Strings. 5-String, .042, .056, .070, .100, .118 Total Tension: 163.2lbs (74.03kg) £48 new, I am looking for £35 posted.
16. Hello all As many of you know, I love high quality leather straps, and I hoped these would be "the one" for me, but I have decided I prefer straps with no metal parts so up they go for sale. These are Heistercamp straps, hand made in Devon. They are superb quality and the leather really is super soft. They are the "Leigh Tor" model, custom finished to an 8cm width, in light havana leather with blue suede lining and ochre stitching. They have antique finish brass buckles and the strap holes are punched for straplocks. They even come with their own bags! They are adjustable from 44-50" Apart from the marks where they've had straplocks fitted, they are in perfect condition. Retailing for £178 the two, these were hand made for me in February, and I will take £[s]70[/s] 60 each, or £[s]140[/s] 120 for the two, posted second class recorded. Cheers Gareth Edited: 25/5 for price drop
17. Thanks for all the replies chaps. Yes, something that's just a power amp is what I'm thinking, so the Demeter is just right, albeit pricey!
18. Hi folks What's out there at the moment like the SWR Amplite of a few years back? Small footprint power amp but with decent wattage. Any advice welcome.
