Warwick Rockbass Corvette or Vintage EST96 ActiveSeries?
GarethFlatlands replied to PerfectionBG's topic in Bass Guitars
This isn't a 'Have you got either of these to sell me?' thread, but rather a 'HELLPPPP' thread.
But I do have one to sell! If you're based in/near Sheffield you're more than welcome to try my Rockbass Corvette (active) out if it helps. I don't slap so I can't be much assistance. -
Billy Gould, straight from Wiki:- "For most of Faith No More's career, he used a Zon bass, but started with an Aria in Faith No More's early days. In the music video for Evidence[2], he can be seen with a Fender Jazz. He began with Peavey amplifiers, then moved to Ampeg amplifiers. He is known for employing a wide variety of playing styles." +1 for big fat strings, high output pickups and a dist. pedal or something to give you a bit of extra growl.

Do you consider yourself a BASSIST or a MUSICIAN?
GarethFlatlands replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
"mu·si·cian /myuˈzɪʃən/[myoo-zish-uhn] –noun 1. a person who makes music a profession, esp. as a performer of music. 2. any person, whether professional or not, skilled in music." I think I'm somewhere in between definitions 1 and 2.... -
Along with Chopins Raindrop Prelude, one of my favourite pieces of piano music. Clicky

EHX BassBalls Nano with mod *Price Drop*
GarethFlatlands replied to Gareth Hughes's topic in Effects For Sale
Trying not be sarcastic here - but seriously - would anyone pick Gareth Hughes as a username??!?!?!??!!?!
I would but you beat me to it, it's my proper name too! There seems to be a few Gareths on here, must be a bass player thing. I've decided to use my spare cash for some decent cables and a mic but good luck with the sale. -
I didn't even need to use the EQ on mine, the tone shaping controls were enough to make my Rock Bass sound great. The footswitchable EQ is a bonus if you want something extra during a song. Some people complain they're a little sterile but I just found it nice and hi-fi sounding, lots of clarity and punch. Good luck with the sale.
Bloody livingston, it's getting everywhere!
We stayed there on our last trip to Scotland. Terrifying place at night. A few people went to Club Earth then got back hammered and made everyone else watch G3 until 6am.
The Artec ADL-2 is supposed to be nice, and is fairly inexpensive. Not used one personally though, just heard good things.
I think I read somewhere it's not properly analog although that may be incorrect. I use a Carbon Copy and am very happy with it.

Anyone else gig or has gigged with a Peavey combo
GarethFlatlands replied to a topic in Amps and Cabs
Try it and see. I've plugged an 18V active bass into a power amp in socket (it wasn't a Peavey) before and it worked fine, with just the master volume as the only working control. I guess the results you get will depend on the output of your bass though.
Will do, just bought a Sansamp DI and I thought it might sound better than the onboard EQ as well as being a DI box.
had a old tnt years ago, loved it nice punch, chorus was pointless to me.ahh memories
Yeah, I couldn't find a usable sound for the chorus. Odd. -
Anyone else gig or has gigged with a Peavey combo
GarethFlatlands replied to a topic in Amps and Cabs
Anyone with the older model TKO, there's 2 1/4 jacks that say 'pre out' and power amp in' or similar. Does this mean I can use a DI straight in and bypass the amps EQ section? -
I did the 'C4 mod' on my old boss tremelo pedal, in which you simply cut out the c4 resistor and it instantly sounds a million times better! Just goes to show they don't always know what they're doing. Same reason i sold my old marshall guitar amp - let's make valve distortion redundant by implimenting a 2 second delay and fadein when changing channels. Ridiculous!
I did the C4 mod too, surprising amount of difference to the pedal. I also did the Ruetz mod on my Rat and didn't like it so much. I ended up restoring the resistor and replacing the IC with the original. Sounds loads better now.

Warwick Corvettes have the J/J pickup layout. Probably not entirely what you were after but worth a look.
The problem is that there is a retro Fender-style revival at the moment so Warwicks don't seem to be as popular as they were a few years back.
Madness! My bandmate plays a BO Thumb and it's probably the nicest bass I've played. I'm stuck with a Corvette Rock Bass til the lottery win happens. Have a bump anyway.
Well they said the GT Retro is basically the GT120 and if they could they wouldn't make it anymore has it has flaws in it's design as it's basically a historical amp which is why the demand for them is still high and why they still make it.
The Retro uses NOS circuit boards (the only Matamp that does I think), the GT1 uses Matamps turret style board which is much easier to build and repair, should something go wrong.
