1.
Is it just me who reads this word and gets an unfortunate vision of greasy, bespectacled, long-haired, black t-shirt boys intently engaged in a long game of warhammer?
Oi, that was me in my early teens (apart from the glasses). And I was always more of a 40k man.
2. Love the time onstage, hate everything else about gigging, especially in the last 6 months or so. The only gigs I've really enjoyed recently have been Scotland (6 hours drive) and The Netherlands and Germany (even more). Sad really. Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and just play well paid gigs as a covers band....
3. No-one fancy a cheap violin they can put up on their wall to impress girls? And maybe even learn to play?
4. 2 speakers taken from a Line 6 2 by 12. Well used but in good condition. Pay for the postage and they're yours. Edit:- they're for guitar, not bass. I should have mentioned that earlier.
5. Love mine, especially modded to use the old LM308 chip as per the original Rats. I think Caleb Schofield (Cave In, Old Man Gloom) uses one on his board for bass along with a Fulltone Fulldrive.
6.
Wow, I used to play violin. Can you post some pictures? And what size are these?
Google says full size. Pics when I find the camera to computer cable in my tip of a room... Edit - Spoke too soon, found it.
7. Antoni ACV 30 for sale, not used much. I thought the move from guitar to violin would be easy. It wasn't! Bow is missing a few hairs but good condition otherwise. Comes with case, pitch pipes and a new tub of rosin as I lost the old one. £30 + P&P
8. A friend is selling off the following:- Full set of Control DC5 Drum mics w. hardcase - £70 + P&P (RRP £179) TC Helicon Create vocal pedal, boxed - £80 + P&P (RRP £159) PM me if you're interested.
9. I always use the following pattern as a warm-up, one finger per fret on the l/h, one finger per note on the right:- a|----------1-2--1-2-3| e|1-2-3-4------4------| Start off slow and clean and build up speed and move it up/down the fretboard and across the neck. Helps synchronise your left and right hands too. Try playing it backwards too!
10. I've recently bought a nice Streamer Pro-M off here and my bank account is looking a little bit sad. Add that to my cars MOT coming up, I'm looking at selling off some stuff, including my Rockbass Corvette. It's black and active (bass, treble, pickup blend and volume controls), condition is pretty good apart from a couple of very minor dings and the usual belt rash on the back (odd as I don't wear belts). The output jack is also a little crackly but I'm thinking I can fix that with some contact cleaner. Collection preferred as it doesn't have a case and I hate post-office queues with a passion. I'm thinking around the £200 mark, pics to follow if anyone's interested.
11.
No, you should be counting once for every four note grouping. With the triplets, you should be counting once for every three note grouping, but you are tapping the same pattern. Hang in there! Peace Joe
Aargh, it's suprisingly difficult, even on the 16th notes! It feels like it's doing my rythm skills some good so I'll keep at it.
12.
Hi Gareth Are you able to tap and count the beats with the paradiddle pattern at 16th notes? Peace Joe
Yeah, counting at each hit. Or should i be counting once per 4 hits?
13.
This time you will tap the same paradiddle pattern, except instead of playing them in 16th note you will play them in 8th note triplets.
So where do the counts go in relation to the taps? Sorry, my knowledge of timing is notoriously flaky.
14. Swap it for the one on Stus amp when he isn't looking.
15. That looks amazing. Wish I was better at woodwork, I'd be able to cure my EUB GAS all by myself!
16. Thanks, I'm using the programmable DI so I assume the XLR out is designed for running into a PA while the 1/4 output can drive a regular amp front end. I'm not very in the know about power amps but I assume Matamp, Peavey and Mackie would be good choices.
17. Welcome Dave! As I understand it, if you run your amp at 4 ohms into an 8 ohm cab it will drop the power output to around 300 watts. If you're careful on the volume knob you shouldn't blow anything up. The better option would be to get a higher rated cab as you should ideally match head and cab ohmages. My working knowledge of cabs is pretty poor, I'm sure someone on here will give you some good recommendations.
18. I've been considering this for a while. Now I've discovered how great my Sansamp DI sounds I'm tempted to get a reasonable 3-500w power amp and using it for gigs where there will be a cab. Purchasing my own cab is further down the line. Is this possible? Any recommendations as to power amp makes if so?
19.
Why not put it into the effects return jack socket and all you are using the amp is for the power side only and the SA is doing all the tone shaping. That`s what I do and it`s the biz. Jez
I don't think it has an effects return but there is a 'Power amp in' input which I assume will do the same job. I'll give it a whirl!
20.
Amazing amps these! shame its not one of the pow ones or i'd have this off you no questions asked.
You spoke to Adam from Flatlands? I don't know is his is still knocking around. Needs a little TLC (the amp, not Adam).
21.
It was like selling a Ferrari and buying a Vauxhall Corsa.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11156782 You know, just saying.
22. Had my first proper practice tonight with the Sansamp and wow, through my practice amp, a Peavey TKO (or is it a TNT?) it sounded amazing. I wasn't even driving the amp hard but the sound filled the room. Just put the EQ on as flat as possible and used the amps volume controls. I totally underestimated the difference it would make. If you can try one out, you'll want one!
23.
I think the stock bridge is pretty sound but I am putting a Schaller 3D on! I have some mad ideas for this, thinking about putting a 3 band MEC EQ in and then either Duncans or Bartolinis. Also a huge part of me wants to sand off the finish and oil it but I am not sure I am brave enough, the flame maple is only a thin veneer (5mm I believe) and I wouldnt want to get over zealous and wreck it!
I meant nut, not bridge. I am an idiot.
