  1. I play the verse and chorus riffs from You Can Leave Your Hat On (the Dan Reed Network version, minus the FX), as it has a good mix of everything -- lows, dusty end, slap/pull, and sustained notes. I just go round and round until I get the nod.
  2. Yup. If there's any 20 year olds out there who know more about reggae than David Rodigan (who at 67 is obviously far too old), I'd love to see 'em.
  3. And those are some very serious shoes to fill, whatever one keeps in one's trousers.
  4. We played a gig in a tent last year... we provided the PA and the boyfriend of one of our vocalists did the knob-twiddling duties, first time he'd done it for us. He's a recent sound engineering/production graduate. I took a walk out front during the set, and oh my word the FOH sound was sublime. We're a 12-piece band, lots of horns and stuff, so mixing us is not a small task, but I could hear everything clearly and in lovely detail and my tone was perfect. I could have kissed him. I'm really hoping he comes along as our engineer in future.
  5. I bet you there are quite a few young ladies on Patpong Road in Bangkok who'd give it a try too.

  7. Ah, it's the old "why don't they play something *I* like?" litany again. Well, if the Yolanda in question is Yolanda Charles, I'd watch it just for her. I'd wager that she's a better bassist than the vast majority of us here. The day I find live music to be no longer relevant, will be the day I sell all my gear and take up stamp collecting instead. The fact that everyone moans about different parts of his programme would tend to suggest that the balance is generally right.
  8. This, entirely. Every so often, I wonder about flogging all my CDs and vinyl, but then I start thinking along these lines and decide against it.
  9. Damn. Got all fingers and toes crossed for you.
  10. I always though 'fopp' was the noise the sht made when it hit the fan?
  11. Makes me feel a bit funny in the underpant area. Ooh missus. ❤😋
  12. @bigmuff69 last visited this site 34 minutes ago. Edit: and again 4 hours ago. I'd say that if he hasn't been in contact by now, its because he doesn't want to for some reason.
  13. My favourites are the Power Windows trio of Manhattan Project, Marathon and Territories.
  14. There have been three, all in the dim distant past, all snapped up by someone else while I hesitated. 1. pre-EB Ray for £250 2. Shergold 8-string for £195 3. mint SWR 800w power amp for £150 I kicked myself especially hard for no.1.
  15. That would be my choice too. Fewer masonry holes to drill.
  16. That is the coolest neck plate ever. I'm really hoping it says something about increasing farm production in the motherland.
  17. Do you have pics and a partial serial number that can be distributed?
  18. Whilst not actually a crap first album as such, for my money It Bites' debut 'The Big Lad In The Windmill' is not a patch on their masterpiece second album 'Once Around The World'. This for me was their finest hour by a long, long way. 'Eat Me In St Louis' was hmmm okay, and nothing they've done since Dunnery left has been as good either, despite the presence of the godlike John Mitchell at the front. Some of Frank Dunnery's solo stuff has been okay, but I find it hard to listen to since he turned into a complete prick on Farcebook.
  19. Freedom Fields is one of my absolute favourite albums by anyone ever. Nothing he's done since has come near it, for me.
  20. Our xmas song this year is based on Springsteen's 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town', with some cracking brass arrangements written by our MD. Love it.
  21. I think this line from the article tells us all we need to know: "As we briefly toured the Eames’ immaculate and sparsely decorated home - framed portraits of Jered hung throughout..."
