  1. I'd love a shirt, but not for twenty five quid posted. I get a nosebleed if I pay more than a tenner for a pair of trousers.
  2. From memory, EMG battery life is measured in years rather than months, so it shouldn't be too frequent a chore!
  3. Trouble is... if nobody ever joined/formed start-ups, where would the new bands come from? Up until recently I was in three bands, of which two I joined/co-formed as start-ups... one of them has now been going for 25 years and the other one finally called it a day last year after a good 12 year run. So it's not all gloom and doom -- yes many of them fizzle out before getting anywhere, but if you don't try you'll never know.
  4. Dave is none of those things (well, maybe circus master) but he would revel in that job description (It's 2020, fgs. Does anyone still say 'snowflake'?)
  5. The Soul Destroyers at Cirencester's Phoenix Festival last summer... featuring Lou giving it her lungbusting best. I apologise for my legs.
  6. I'm not sure the Sire V and P basses fit into either of these categories -- they aren't customised and they don't undercut the Squiers price-wise. And they certainly haven't failed. My V7 is a superb instrument.
  7. 21 in total last year, which isn't too bad when you consider I didn't play my first gig of the year until the 29th June thanks to my wrist woes. Diary filling up nicely for this year too.
  8. Does it have LEDs up the broom handle?
  9. Not for nothing is the hammer also known a 'Birmingham screwdriver'
  10. It's annual new-strings time for the V7. Woohoo! Elixir nickels FTW.

  11. I'm the same.
  12. And Nick Smith aka @doctor_of_the_bass has another 30% or so.
  13. The MTD 534's tone is gorgeous. Definitely my no.1 out of the lot.
  14. I have no problem with it and neither do I.
  15. I've still got mine! (the shirt, not the GWB).
  16. Certainly. *Ahem* Mykes, you're a clown whore. There y'go.
  17. How about "Is It Good For Metal?" or "My Favourite Waste Of TIM" or "Proud To Be A Clown Whore"..?
  18. The Three Horseshoes in Bradford on Avon. Ska band's xmas gig. Oh my word, what a blast the place was utterly rammed, i mean like 6 deep at the bar, up and dancing from the B of the bang. The landlord was so chuffed he gave us £200 more than we'd agreed on and demanded that we do it again next xmas Good to see breadbin there, sorry I was too distracted to chat for long -- the pressure of the load-out plus I'd lost my wallet (it turned up, thank god).
  19. Likewise. More than happy with my current crop. Each one has its own job: Shuker J five - the modern hi-fi one. Sire V7 five - the workhorse Jazz one. Wal Pro 2E - the treasured possession and investment (in need of servicing, if I'm honest). Westone Thunder 1A - the P bass, on steroids. The JayRay - the fretless one. Ibanez BTB 6-string - the jazzy ironing board. Tanglewood ABG - the acoustic one. The only GAS I have is pipe-dream lottery win stuff: a Wal 5-string and a '65 Jazz. Best part of 20 grand there.
  20. 24 as a preference, but I do like at least 21. One of the few things that annoys me about my Sire V7 is that they stuck too closely to the J-bass recipe, and gave it a 20 fret neck. I have never understood why Leo designed them like that... what the hell is the point of a range of E to Eb..??
  21. Bring back flogging, I say. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124016318859?_trksid=p11021.c100851.m5053&_trkparms=aid%3D1110001%26algo%3DSPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20170803121420%26meid%3D8e87c06995d94e958bc1e4f9bf47ce3b%26pid%3D100851%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26b%3D1%26sd%3D163996275991%26itm%3D124016318859%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D11021&ul_noapp=true
  22. I knew this wouldn't hang around long at that bargain price.
  23. That is superb. I think I might build something similar into my cheap wardrobe bespoke storage unit. My new year project right there
