  1. Excellent. Wishing you the very best o' british 👍
  2. You know you're in trouble if this happens during Simple Minds' 'Waterfront'... Seriously though... yes, this has happened to me with the ska band. I remember Too Much Pressure going completely off-piste one night, for no apparent reason
  3. If it was a Gibson fence, the top 6" would keep falling off.
  4. This was all the comment you needed really, the rest was superfluous
  5. Right now I'm more worried about my Italian holiday in June.
  6. If you want a fretless with a crisp slap attack, then I reckon a slap plate at the end of the neck is the way to go (as mentioned by uk_lefty above).
  7. Remarkably, not everyone shares your opinion of Ms Guðmundsdóttir
  8. There is no prosecution, just personal choice
  9. That was quick
  10. Ever had one of those days when it's only mid-morning, and already you just want to climb into bed, pull the duvet over your head and pretend it never f***ing happened? :( :(

I feel for you sleep-deprived guys. I well remember those days.

Personally I'm not tired (well, no more than usual). It's just been a total c*** of a day from the word go.

In my case it's not that I'm deprived.  I get 'nuff winks through the course of the 24hr clock.  It's just not all joined up.  If I had to keep a job going too I'd be stuffed.

  11. For those of you who have just joined the thread, here is a quick summary of the story so far: "I really don't like Aja. It's crap." "No it's not." "Yes it is." "No it's not." "Yes it is." "No it's not." "Yes it is." "No it's not." "Yes it is." "No it's not." "Yes it is." "No it's not. Steely Dan are brilliant." "No they aren't." "Yes they are." "No they aren't." "Yes they are." "No they aren't." "Yes they are." "No they aren't." "Yes they are." "No they aren't." "Yes they are." (cont'd p.94)
  12. Well, we appear to have drifted back into general Br*x*t territory again. The visa subject appears to have been comprehensively covered and is starting to repeat itself a bit. With that in mind, I think we can draw a line under it.
  13. My basses are quite happy in their wardrobe BassDrobe©, but if I was to hang them on the wall I'd definitely do the single-plank method.
  14. "Ah, it might look like a Trace Elliot 4x10, but it's actually a suitcase... Errm, honest..."
  15. I had a gorgeous Flamboyant headed 5-string for a while. All walnut, Bart pups and Schack eq with piezo bridge, blue side LEDs. Very distinctive mouse logo on the headstock. I sold it and really shouldn't have. Can't afford to buy it back but would love to know where it is. Sorry for the hijack
  16. One look at the average age of the big audiences drawn by instrumental 'jazz-ish' bands such as Vulfpeck and Snarky Puppy will show that the cats are definitely back. Jazz has, I think, a bright future.
  17. If I'd quoted all the off topic posts, mine would have been 2 screens long. I did say it was a general 'you' and not just you.
  18. Agricultural policy has got nothing to do with visa requirements for performing artists. Please can you (and this is a broad 'you', not just an individual) stick to the subject in question. If the thread becomes a general B-word argument it will be closed.
  19. Very stoic yes, but I can't help feeling this is about as practical as "everything will be ok if we just believe in Britain".
  20. What, you mean there are basses too?
  21. Yes. Case in point: my favourite jazz guitarist announced a 'European' tour last year. It included nine dates in Germany but the closest he got to the UK was Paris. Not the first time this has happened, and I suspect will become the norm.
  22. I can't speak for peteb but it bloody is for me. It gets under my skin when people suggest that those who happen to like a certain band are obviously some sort of know-nothing philistines. When they present their opinion as indisputable fact, this is how it is because I say so and that's that. Some people seem to have no grasp whatsoever of the phrase "in my opinion".
