One look at the average age of the big audiences drawn by instrumental 'jazz-ish' bands such as Vulfpeck and Snarky Puppy will show that the cats are definitely back. Jazz has, I think, a bright future.

Yes. Case in point: my favourite jazz guitarist announced a 'European' tour last year. It included nine dates in Germany but the closest he got to the UK was Paris. Not the first time this has happened, and I suspect will become the norm.

I can't speak for peteb but it bloody is for me. It gets under my skin when people suggest that those who happen to like a certain band are obviously some sort of know-nothing philistines. When they present their opinion as indisputable fact, this is how it is because I say so and that's that. Some people seem to have no grasp whatsoever of the phrase "in my opinion".
