Good honest account of it. I like what it does but like you say it’s an expensive outlay I find out it mimics what I already have and enjoy. I dig my board and have the added flexibility of being able to swap things about without losing the elements which I like. I’ll still keep an eye out for a used one … maybe 😀🤓

I probably won’t… but I’ll still think about it from time to time. 😝

    Jad Freer Capo

Id been looking at the capo too when one popped up for sale on here a while back. I’m currently running a Basswitch but have added in a VMT (or TRex BassJuice when I fancy a change) and a compressor in the serial loop and they work a treat. If the Capo loop is serial it’s worth experimenting with those always on pedals into the loop as you get the benefit of that parallel signal which to my ear is much preferable to a clean blend as you get a bit of everything which is good about parallel signal paths. It’s the one thing stopping me ordering a capo. A fried. Who’s a bass played heard my pub band and wanted to know the sign chain as he thought it sound big and punchy. I put that down to the serial loop! I think the Capo does all that in one box but I really like the set up I have…. Plus just got some back pay from work this month so have some ‘spare’ gear money. Honestly I’m just working all this out in my head on here sorry for the hijack 😀
  4. You’re welcome ☺️ The Colourbox is great and really adds thickness - mine has to go back to JHS for a fix as it’s developed a noise issue but it should be a straightforward tweak/repair. Got some Lightening Boy Audio 2020s passive transformer units which really come to life once hitting them with some gain/boost. A couple of those 2020s’ in combination with a SGGX Beta sound gloriously phat! Also got them hooked up in my signal path and you can hear the mojo.
  5. I thought this would have sold already - twice as many valves as a Noble and so much more functionality!
  6. Fender has some fantastic pedals in their range. I’ve been using two of them and only I have a pretty complete pedal line up I’d have given this a go as an all in one box.
  7. You really are on a quest 😀
  8. Love the look of these and the Neve knobs!
  9. Pedal board and Trapper now sold
  10. I was using the tonestyler. It’s really quite useful and I found myself using a few different settings. Having the ability to instantly recall a tone setting was pretty sweet. Here’s a demo…
  11. Some items sold updated post bump
  12. New picture and new pedal* added bump *See first post
  13. Bump would be keen to trade some stuff against a DG element
  14. It’s the one piece of gear I’ve owned longer than anything else. I’d say about 10yrs at least. With this set up I’ve got the bass running into the Basswitch. The VMT is going into the little yellow box - the 2020s - then out of that into the HL comp. These are in the ‘always on’ serial loop and are both always engaged. Using the boost on the Basswitch really does add an extra bit of grind to the VMT sound (I’ve the VMT set for a pretty low gain) and it makes an already great sound even better! It basically gives me a great always on sound and then adding the boost just gives it that extra oomph. Of course this is probably heavily influenced by the LBA2020s which is just a transformer in a box and it really starts to add its mojo with some gain going into it. To my ear between the drive and comp is where it’s sounded best and the foot switchable Basswitch boost really starts to fatten it up. The signal comes out of the Basswitch and into the AO then the Funklite. This runs into a Micro Thumpinator hidden underneath the board which goes into the Hotone Cab IR. From here it’s DI to the desk and a Thru to the amp. I did have the VMT and HL running direct to the amp but adding them to the loop of the Basswitch really ‘cleaned’ things up. Hard to explain exactly, maybe it’s having that serial loop or possibly due to the transformer in the Basswitch but whatever the reason it’s a cracking sound for my tastes. Then you have the 4 band eq with two bands of semi para mids which allows for that additional bit of tone shaping and it’s a very musical Eq. I’ve yet to hear an onboard which rivals it. I feel very spoilt and while I don’t really need much in the way of effects I’m super happy with this combination. I have a few other drives I’ve experimented with but these work well especially stacking the VMT into the AO!!😌
  15. Mine has had a tweak. Moved to slightly bigger board and I’m very pleased.
  16. Oliver has been a pleasure to converse with and what a collection of basses!!
  17. If you’ve not had the opportunity to try one you really should. I have a couple of pieces of gear with transformers and you do get that added weight to the sound. It’s really quite pleasing.
  18. Tonestyler still available bump… (But I’m gonna pop it back into my p bass while I’m waiting for it to sell - the joy of a solderless loom! 😀
  19. These things add some real mojo to the sound and offer one of the better compressors you can get. I had one for ages (I’ve had two big box cali’s) and if I had the space and wasn’t such a miser I’d have one on a board… always.
  20. Shoehorn “Dancing In the Moonlight” by Thin Lizzy into the set😀
  21. I was looking at one but read that they couldn’t. Ironically I use a DG 410/api preamp as my main ir
  22. does the element only use DG ir or can it be loaded with 3rd party ones too?
  23. I’ve got around this by using an OmniIR cab sim. It’s the last thing in my signal chain and allows me to have a ‘thru’ to my amp if I’m using one and a xlr out to the desk. As much as I enjoy the sound of my cab this is the most hassle free option. Some venues might mic your cab but an IR loader might be the best option and there are many option for cabs where you’ll find something that works for you.
