I have a standard case for mine (one of those nice semi-hard (ooer) Protection Racket cases but its a bit big round the sides, and certainly too big at the top for a short scale bass... need summat a bit smaller

Ok - some further information from the man himself (via his wife, lol) It is a Supernatural Mark King Classic Series I (dot inlays). but I dont know the year! if you go on http://www.jaydeecustomguitars.co.uk/mark-king-1.jpg, the one on the right is my exact one... well... except I own it not Mark King (!) and except for the dot inlays are slightly different and the hardware on mine is silver not gold (the pic is off the website about Jaydee's and the two guitars are the only two that Mark King still has in his posession). Hope this helps? Whats a ball park figure for this then Jaydee experts? This isnt for sale (yet) but when it is ill get him to post it on here in the For Sale forum with some piccies. Im told its in pretty much the same nick I saw it in last time, ie. very good.

Hi chaps / chapettes, A good friend of mine is looking like he's going to sell his Jaydee SMK - I can honestly say ive never seen one for sale on here (maybe i missed one once?) - what sort of cash should he be looking for? Ive tried to put him off flogging it to a specialist shop as i imagine they will rip him for the dosh... or sell it for him with a phat lump of "commission" tacked on. Cheers peeps (oh and of course, if anyone wants it themselves, drop me a PM and ill try to put you in contact with him... he's in Norfolk. Ive played the bass myself when i used to teach him many years ago and it was in pristine nick last time I saw it, very very nice instrument indeed)

Bought a replacement bridge from them and they were very reasonablely priced. Good comms too - recommended.

To Refin' Or Not To Refin', That IsThe question...
sadly in more cases then not if you "upgrade" your bass or modify it in any way it's going to be worth less than if you left it alone.
very true. My '72 LP has a mark on it where the previous owner decided to add a thumb rest. I suppose at the time in the 70's they didnt really think "hmmm, I wonder if this will devalue my instrument on the vintage market in 30 years time?" I have thought about refin'ing my LP as well. I think it would like pure SEX in a wine red, but I dont think its a good idea with a vintage instrument..... think it would look the DOGS BOLLOX tho if I did do it. -
Anyone know where I can get one of these, or an aftermarket replacement that will fit the old LP Basses? Long shot I know! Cheers guys

I think he shows himself as quite the versatile player, with a lot of theory and thought behing his playing. The "nice" bit in Orion is one of my favourite bass bits of all times, and its mainly just 5th patterns, but just really nice. And he can also wail with the best as well... the start of For Whom The Bell Tolls... its pure Cliff lovelyness. Talking of Jason, he started doing his own thing around that into in the early 90's, slightly changing the intro, which was good to see.

I quite liked Contra on the Nintendo NES, is that what you are talking about?

If you are looking for someone in the East of England, Pete @ Sonic Fix is a top chap to deal with for this kind of thing - lives in Horning (hoho!) out in the sticks about 10 miles from Norwich. Has a fully kitted out workshop, nice fella. Also did a cracking setup job on my Musicmaster. www.sonicfix.co.uk

Ive been in this situation before - it tends to be the bride and groom that want you there (and usually book you), and no one else could give a toss if you were there or not. Easy money but kinda soul-sapping...

Splendid stuff there chap, it isnt option B thankfully! Bit of taillift going on as is the case with these things but otherwise I thnk a bit of saddle fiddling should do some good. Many thanks!
Cos you've not PM'd me an offer for my 79 P bass?
if I could afford what you would need/want for it mate id probably have a punt... but I am skint after the last 2 GAS attacks! Is a pretty looking thing. Is it heavy? That '75 ive been tinkling on every now and then is pretty light IMO (but I am used to Ricks and my Gibbo which weighs a ton)
so many threads about it, so why does everyone seem to keep goingback?
is a very good point i think its prob cos that vintage stuff doesnt turn up very often, and people want to believe they can acquire such lovely things. Even if the paint job / neck / body / electrics / machineheads / pickguard / other random part has been changed

Gotta say, when ive been down there, Wunjo's and V&R were perfectly fine to me. Let me try anything etc... sounds like they are happy to pull the wool over people's eyes at a few other places down there though!

Evening chaps... Its taken me a long time to admit it, but the action on my Rick is a bit high, and makes it not as easy as it could be to play. How do i go about getting the action less high? Cheers - Stag
