tumblr is pretty hot right now. Certainly in terms of graphic design and art. I imagine there is a similar audience there for music too.

Just bought an excellent prewired P bass harness from John. This thing has totally changed my life. no exaggeration, totally changed it. Seriously though it's a well made piece of kit for a bargain price and delivered, I can only assume, via time machine.

It's damn close to my dream bass too. Except I would dump the J and have it in CAR with a matching headstock and a mint plate.

Controversial post... I bought mine new for around £400 and sold it to a basschatter at the silly price of £150! I would have wanted £200 plus off anyone else though. Why? Well it was a good bass, especially after I swapped the J pickup out for a NOS US Fender one. But at the end of the day the one I had just didn't play well enough. I like a fairly low action and it had a typical fender "hump" down the dusty end and try as I might I couldn't get the action how I liked it. Was it worth £400? Just about. Are they worth more? IMHO, no. I now have a Retrovibe Aero2 which is basically a Chinese made Aerodyne copy but with a different scale length and set neck and it blows it out of the water. You can get the Aero1 which is the bolt on version for around £200 and have plenty left over for new pickups if you choose. Would I have paid the current asking prices for a new Aerodyne? Not in a million years.

I have kind of played down my soldering skills. I have been known to make my own cables and they do the job ok. However my soldering iron is a bit useless and I have run out of solder. It would have been more accurate to say that I can't be bothered!

I need to replace the gubbins in a cheapo P copy and because I have awful soldering skills I thought I would go for a wiring harness. I have found one on ebay but wondered if anyone has any recommendations? Thanks.

I would rather not play than play someone else's bass line note for note and as RR says, most bands don't play songs live exactly as they are recorded so why should I? As long as I get the feel right and have fun I'm happy.

My money is on a dodgy string. I have definitely heard an "out of phase" sound with factory strings in the past.

It's just a way to put the sale thread at the top of the forum. Bumping it to the top as it were. TIM does the same. But that is a rather more complicated story.
