My bad! The HX stomp XL
-
Sorry in advance if this has been asked/covered before. Does anyone have any tips on using a parallel signal path for a clean blend with the guitar overdrives? My current signal chain is compressor to signal split then a Klon and a plumes on one path and an EQ that I'm using as a clean boost on the other. The Klon is on all the time and the plumes (in op amp mode) is used to add more dirt when required. I'm basically wondering if I've gone about it the most sensible way, is there a better way of boosting the clean signal so the level is the same as the dirty?

After a longer than anticipated wait, I got the news that the neck is finished, the bass assembled and set up today. It's due to arrive tomorrow, I'll do an NBD post when I've had a chance to get to know it, but for now I'm really happy with the aesthetic.

There's definitely a good number of options. Is this enough of a departure?

Bought Martins GK 1001RB at the weekend. Great guy to deal with and a smooth process. Would definitely recommend.

That's a really good looking bass. How does it sound compared to it's inspiration? I bet it's incredibly versatile with that electronics package.

This looks amazing. Very excited to see the end result.

Really like this. I didn't know they existed until now. I may try and acquire the 4 string version.

I'm a huge fan of the T series. I have a toaster 40, used to have a blade one too but sold it. I've never seen a 20 in person, how does it compare weight wise to the 40? Is the pickup the super ferrous? I'm guessing the neck is the same.

God damn this is great. Congrats on a really cool build. -
I love an SR. Have you considered a second hand one? You'd probably get a higher spec one as they really don't hold their value. Also, Warwick's still have side markers.

I sold it on here, way over 10 years ago and I don't remember who bought it. It came from a guy in Bristol who had an actual 66 too. I'm pretty sure I found it on eBay. By the time I sold it, I'd sanded the neck back and put a bad ass II and set of overwound pickups in it. Thing sounded amazing.

I had an MIJ 66 Jazz in candy apple red with matching headstock and dot and bound neck back in the day, around the time I bought that silver P off you. I don't know if you'd remember it but here's a photo from manic 16 years ago. It had clovers rather than lollipops and the guy I bought it off told me it was a non export model. I Shouldn't have sold it, but I didn't know what I had 😭.

That's a great finish. Congrats!

Beautiful. That'll serve you well. -
Pre amp pedal would be my advice. No matter the rig I always sound basically the same now. Sansamps are hard to live without once you have one.

Original Gibson and New Epiphone G3 Mike Dirnt

I'm very intrigued to play these when they come out. Also that rosewood necked P bass is a beauty. -
Another update. The scratch plate arrived today. I couldn't help but put the pieces of the body together to get a feel for how the final product will look. I'm very much enjoying the combination of anodised scratch plate and metallic finish. Very excited to add the neck.

Another brief update as the first delivery of parts arrived today. Gotoh hardware seems to be a winner. I'm amazed at how light the resolite tuners are, the bridge feels substantial and should do a decent job of being functionally better than the BBOT but without ruining the classic look too much. Really happy with those choices. The pickup looks to be of a really high standard. It's deeper than I expected but it'll definitely fit without further fettling. Very excited to hear it. I spoke to Mr Shuker this afternoon, he reckons 8 weeks to build the neck and assemble the thing, so even factoring in Luthier time Vs normal time I should easily have the finished product by Christmas. Anodised gold alu scratch plate, domed control knobs, and a laser cut "F" decal have been ordered which marks the final pieces of the puzzle. Once they arrive I'll do a test fit on the body and ship the whole lot up to Shuker.

A brief update on this. Jon Shuker came back to me with a price for building the neck and assembling the bass which was too good to turn down, so that's happening, just waiting on a lead time. The neck is basically the same spec as he puts on the JJ Burnel Zenith bass: Roasted flamed maple neck and board. Carbon reinforcement. Brass nut. Stainless fret wire (small). 16" radius (I know it's not traditional but I like a flat neck). 43mm nut width. Black dot inlays. Luminlay fret markers. Also, today I ordered the majority of the hardware. Well, everything I could get from Thomann at least. I've gone for: Gotoh Resolite tuners in Nickel. Brass Gotoh 203 Bridge in Nickel. Large Gotoh strap buttons in nickel. An EMG GZR pickup. I'm slightly questioning my pickup choice, but I love the sound of the GZR in all the demos I've heard, and I'm a big Sabbath fan. I may change it in the future but I'm sure it'll do a perfectly decent job. All that's missing is a neck plate and mounting screws, a scratch plate and mounting screws, and some knobs. I think I'm going to end up with a pretty amazing P-bass for a relatively reasonable amount of money.
