    I had a book on the origins of boss compact pedals saying certain numbers are considered unlucky in Japanese culture (4/8) etc. my guess is each dot has a cost. Fender made 3rd fret the first dot and they followed suit. If you make 10,000 guitars/basses a month, that cost of ¥1 or whatever soon mounts up.

    Centre of the bridge plate (top to bottom). 10mm either side. put masking tape around it and double check before drilling.

    Nah. It’s all just trying to achieve a dream I was close to 10 years ago. And now I’m nearly 35, married, career and kids... if buying basses meant you’d make it...I’d be the equivalent of Elvis Presley. As it stands I’m a fat Sir Richard Head III who’s owned a lot of basses.
