Both my 414 and 1024 were virtually unplayed when I received them. both are finished like a stingray, a bit “dry” feeling - wouldn’t mind them buffing to a shine. but I’ll play them to death and shine them up the old school way. love the glossy necks on the old bb’s.

They did a nice metallic red towards the end

Gassed for a BB300 like my first ever bass in 1997. Found one, a 1984 (YOB) which cures two bouts of Gas. Gassed for a 414 in Orange Metallic like my old 415. But wanted a pickguard on it. Found both items and sorted that. that lead me to want a 1024x in Caramel Brown because that’s like a big boy version of the 414 and they didn’t do anything I liked finish wise on the 2024. And that’s me GAS done. I am selling an 1100s I picked up along the way as it’s a shame it won’t see use.

So, with the second 1100s up for sale - this is the stable. 1024x in Caramel Brown (think I’m going to have a nice celluloid brown tort guard made for this) 1984 BB300 - YOB and a version of my first ever bass - This will wear flats soon. 414 in Orange Metallic, added a 1024x pickguard, sort of makes it an unofficial 414x And in all honesty, I’m done. Unless a blue 1600 arrives. But even then I’m not sure I’d bother.

I wanted to try the JB Fullerton at PMT in Salford the other day (was actually hoping they’d have a Yamaha BB P34. But it was a busy Saturday morning with all the kids playing muse (I don’t miss working in a guitar shop!) so I just bought some strings and went on my way. i wouldn’t mind a look at the tribute jb in LPB with blocks, looks cool.

Mine involves revolving the lines around in my head. Turning up to practice and playing. i was afforded 1 hour of ‘practice’ this week. brilliant 🤨🔫

I’m much worse when I’m not in a band. I need to scrap my eBay, Facebook and basschat accounts though - it’s like being in the sweet shop all the time. Once the bb1100s is gone, I’m done buying and selling. Self imposed ban.
