1. D'oh! Thought this one had shipped?
2. Why use tweezers? Could you not simply remove the plate over the electronics and have a proper look? I'd echo Geoff's comments above.
3. Well, I've always been one for experiential learning, according to the last development workshop foisted upon me - I suspect this could be the moment to find out. I have a couple of old sets which are bin-bound. I don't suppose you know how long I'm supposed to boil them for?
4. Boiling bass strings? Thoughts people? This is a new one on me; I've heard of people cleaning strings, or treating them, but not boiling them.
5. Can we stop carping on about this?
6. We all make mistakes, Assassin. Yesterday, during a presentation, I called our 'Worksite' offering 'Worksh*te'. I think Bruce's typo is a little tame, in comparison to my blunder
7. Haha, looks like we all got replied to in the same mail! To quote Bruce Coyle:
Hello, Thanks for your interest in the New Squire Jaguar Bass. It seems that some pre-release information has been leaked via the USA. Unfortunately we are unable to provided any release details as yet, these should be officially released within the next 3 weeks (including full specs and rrps). We currently believe the basses should be available to order from the end June with them arriving instores towards the end of July/Early August. Full details will be issued on the Squire website as well as details sent to you local Squire dealer. Kind Regards Bruce Coyle Fender GBI
8. All Sparks - The Editors Hunting For Witches - Bloc Party Loves Burns - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
9. I'm trying to use the power of positive thinking to help make this a reality. It's right up there with placebos for it's noted effects. Stagguar? Jagstagg?
10. Internet meltdown? We need Shambo with his avatar!
11. Good position, for balance - though it'll feel like you've grown a third-nipple whilst playing sat down. So, is it locked in Passive or Active?
12. Same position as the Eagle? Any idea on why the switch is playing up?
13. I came. A little. Jag? Summer? Perfect combo.
14. Switch is Active/Passive selector, apparently.
15. Bump. Could do £125 + shipping. Had a couple of interesting trade offers, but still open to hear from people.
16. Guitar Pro would be of some use - you'd be able to see how all the elements of a track fit together. The guys above have nailed it. Know your fretboard; know which chords the bands are playing; know the progression and structure; play roots and elaborate from there. The interesting part comes when the bass comes to the front - if you're playing a bridge, or somesuch, when the guitars aren't playing. Because it's not always about following the guitars
17. Your 88 Gunslinger is something else Lorne. Love the ST, great design - mine is a solid player. No twin, sadly.
18. Bought Graham's 1995 non-reverse Thunderbird V - top guy, plenty of good banter throughout; you couldn't ask for more. Exemplar of why Basschat is such a great place.
19. f*** yeah, I should have known it was Fibbers! No surprise to find others nodding along to that one. When are you on? I'll wander down.
20. I'd love to know which venue this is. We do have some in York where the sound is mud most nights of the week.
21. Would love twins... sigh, maybe something for the future! I did see a stunning pair of Corts, 4- and 5-string versions, in a beautiful off-white - someone got themselves a deal buying those!
22. I think I need to play catch-up - I've never owned 10 basses! My top 5 would be equally erroneous, I suspect. I will say that my Lakland DJ4 has been simply stunning, from having played a few jazzes, and I'm hoping I'll look back on it as one of better bass purchases
