1. The 12/12/6 looks very tempting. Just wish I had the a bit more money...as usual.
 2. The one that does best at the audition. ....and has a drum kit. It may sound daft but it happens.
 3. If you want an SKB case apparently there literally loads littered around Afghanistan. More or less the same case is used for grenade launchers or something similar. The cases just get dumped.
 4. Bum, forgot to add a reply. It was a crumby joke really. Could have done with a smiley.
 5.
I think Marvin is saying that is the question he would ask a prospective singer, as many seem to only have a mic, sometimes not even a stand.
6.
I use the Alpine Musicsafe earplugs, and they're awesome for the money. Come with a carrying case and a choice of three different attenuation inserts, plus a spare earplug. I can't gig without them now, it sounds like a right racket!
I've got these and can't get on with them at all. I can't hear anything when I wear them, so I don't bother.
 7. Definitely not easy.
 8.
Marv... can i call you Marv? This is just french cars all over. My dad used to have an old peugeot 309. There was a light that always came on (stayed on constantly) that said their was a fault with the oil pump (or maybe it was the glow plugs). But after changing the pump (or plugs) twice, the light still stayed on. I think he even replaced the light. In the end, he decided it was "A f*** up of a thing" and took the light out entirely. It's just some of the incredibly ANNOYING character you get with a french car. It's like a friend that snorts when they laugh. If you are really unlucky, it's like a really ugly friend that tries to get you into bed every time they are drunk.
You can certainly call me Marv, it's still not my real name My French car, looks lovely, just very poorly put together.
 9. I never watch these vids, bore me rigid. Anyway aren't the likes of Wooten, Clarke, Millar, Pino etc etc etc on YouTube? They seem to be missing from the list. Oh, and Peter Hook of course
 10. Decent looking site, but some of the links don't work. Perhaps a bit more 'road testing' before it was sent forth?
 11.
IMO it was all going beautifully UNTIL 3.15, where he proceeded to mash up a very good song with a load of old pony that had no purpose except to get his massive cock out on TV.
You're just jealous your cock is smaller
 12. I have a bass made of ply and it sustains more so than the solid wood body one have. Never had an issue with it. I think I'd be inclined to remove the pickguard or neck rather than expose a bass to such temperature changes to find out though.
 13.
I've done a few playalong vids. Beyond my own vanity, I wanted to do good versions so people could learn the track from my vid if they wanted to, I enjoyed the challenge of getting a good take in one go for some tricky numbers, and most of the versions I saw on youtube were not accurate or played very well so I wanted to put a decent version up. That's about it. Haven't done one in two years and not felt the need.
They probably downloaded the wrong tabs online. Bloody amateurs.
 14. Can you fit valves in those new fangled flat screen tellys? I wouldn't have thought there was the room.
 15. I'll be 40 at the end of the month. Most of the people I've been playing with over the last year have all been in their very early 20's (some in their late teens) and didn't give a hoot I was in some cases old enough to be their Dad. I haven't got a mojo either. After we had kids it's like any attempt to move convincingly in time with any music disappeared.
 16. I picked up, what looked like a very tatty, Yamaha RBX something or other in a practice room several months ago. It was brilliant. Really sweet to play. Saw someone playing a TRB recently, that sounded and looked
 17. Lots of advice I've taken on board, thanks. I suppose a break would be good. Frustratingly I've only been playing 3 years and I'm getting to the point I've done my bit of networking and, only a few, but I'm getting asked to do little side projects. I'll have to work out something...or other.
 18.
So what's the problem then? There's no law that says you have to play bass. Edit: re-reading my comment, I should point out that I'm not having a dig. I haven't played football since I was at school but that's only because I don't want to so it doesn't bother me at all. Seriously, don't worry about it, just chill and do stuff you do want to do instead.
Didn't read it that way anyway Cheers
 19.
Put it away until you do want to play.
That's what concerns me, it could be a long time before I'd want to.
Try and listen to some different music. Bass player music maybe if you dont already. Something to amaze and inspire you to be better. I find 'bands' increasingly tedious lately and am always looking for great players rather than great bands. Maybe, dunno. Either that or sod off
Saw an amazing band over the weekend. It may have had the opposite effect of inspiring.
SAD syndrome? Serious, not piss-take.
Certainly a strong possibility,
 20. Due to various things going on I haven't touched my basses in about 2 months. Plugged one in today...and I can't play. Not a thing. No rhythm, no nothing. And what's more, I don't want to play. I've no interest in bass or bands. It's all completely gone.
 21.
TheRev, Thanks for the Talk Talk link - I do actually have the Spirit of Eden album. I was a bit of a fan... until this album. Loved the previous two. Guess this would now be known as Pre-Post-Rock
It probably already exists, unfortunately. Post-rock!? Please save me from the ever expanding music genre explosion. Probably made up by some music journo. Heaven help us.
 22. You were never going to buy one, but if in the future you think "I'd quite like a Citroen", sit down and take a deep breath and then think about what just entered your head. It would be a pointless exercise to buy said car because you won't get to use it. For the majority of its existence it'll be in the garage workshop probably being repaired for the umpteenth time for a fault that just can't be fixed.
 23.
Jeff Ament will be 50 in march and still looks very cool with his lull Sig t-bird bass... 50 is the new 30
Pearl Jam fan and I like Jeff Ament's playing, however, he has never been or looked cool. It's just one of those things I'm afraid If I had a spare couple of grand...I'd buy a reliable car
 24. You can't get bored playing a great song
