Not actually for a bass, but... The neck on the cheap strat copy I've bought is completely untreated, just bare wood effectively. How difficult is it to lacquer a neck? My Squier pbass is lacquered, I assume, and I quite like that both playing and in terms of how it looks (gives it a real vintage look). Also as this strat is sunburst with a black scratchplate I thought maybe a lacquered neck with maybe a 70's style fender decal would make it look a bit more cool Thanks for any advice.

do you ever air bass when you hear a track..
Marvin replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
I was watching a gig on thursday (organised and hosted by Tony Butler of Big Country fame, sorry I just had to ). I was stood at the bar with a very good local bass player and he started playing air bass. I pointed out he'd obviously bent his air bass as he was plucking the side of his hip but his fretting hand was in the traditional position -

I quite like the looks of the Fender Mustang. It'll only be for home practice, I've no intention of joining a band as a guitarist. I just want to be able to learn and noodle at home, and maybe come up with ideas for the bands I'm in (once I've learnt to play ). Thank you everyone. -
There's no shame in that - I had to google to find out about this McCartney bloke.
He was the bloke who was held hostage in the middle east with Terry Waite wasn't he? That's why I thought it so odd.

http://www.guardian....-cobain-nirvana And then actually if you really read it, he's not actually replacing Cobain, there just doing a slot together. Well that's how I read it anyway. It's not really a very good fit tbh. Not in a, " that Macca is a ......" you usually get online, but there are probably more suitable artists.
Ive not read the thread so this may have already been said but .. Andy bell later played bass with them and he is a fantastic guitar player, YouTube some live stuff from the album in question with him playing bass and I'd bet you'll hear some lovely extras, I could be wrong though, sometimes basic playing is what is needed.
He's was quite good in Erasure. -

Oasis - Whats The Story Morning Glory Album

A band I'd rather not listen to. Nothing inspiring about the songs so no surprise the bass lines are uninteresting. Never went for all that Britpop or Cool Britannia thing. -
so many of my musical endeavours have foundered recently i'm starting to think that the best thing i can do for the london music scene is to retire ! lots of commitment problems really - i wonder whether at 42 i've reached the point where almost all my peers doing music do it as very much a 'kick about' and i'm the odd one out wanting everyone to come to every practice having done the musical 'homework'. i'm finding it hard to find reasons to look for another band or to get something going myself at the moment...it's a real shame.
This. Being committed, putting in the groundwork, doing your homework all seem to count for nothing.

I've seen the Fender Frontman 25R for a little under £100. They seem quite reasonable. Don't know. What does anyone else use?
The type that don't go out much and are therefore far too hammered
As good a reason as any not to go out over Christmas and New Year full stop (unless you are gigging, and being paid handsomely for it of course). Gave up on the pub at Christmas some time ago when I started loosing more pints due to 'once a year' drinkers than I was managing to actually drink.
Drummer and I are 'hobby' players and we're both very reliable so I wish to challenge the assertation that hobby players should be avoided.
I hope you don't think I'm some wanna be pro . Music is my hobby. In fact, it was the others in the band who thought we could 'make it', just turned out I was the most reliable. You'd ask the keyboard player if he was ok for practice the following week, he'd reply that he wasn't sure. The guy was out of work, no money, couldn't afford to watch the TV. I must admit I lost my temper one week and sarcastically asked what it was in his extensive social diary that was possibly getting in the way... karaoke down the pub apparently
Hey Marvin, sorry about the band fail man. But.. although you think all that time was wasted, it really wasn`t because you`ve probably learned so much you don`t realise. Put it this way, if you hadn`t had the last 18 months, you would have all those mistakes still to make. But now you know better. Good luck with your next band. MM (oh yes you will )
Thank you I was going to say I had a second band to fall back on, but I'm not sure whether the others want to keep going with that one The flaky band never actually broke up apparently, I might add. The singer and guitarist chucked the keys out but didn't have the guts to say that to him. So rather they said the band had split. Couple of days later they contacted me saying practice as usual this week. Really

I'm listening to a lot of Tom McRae lately. Especially since I saw him play a gig near me. Love his material.

Kettle leads should only ever be attached to kettles, end of. Now someone make the tea.

I regularly look(ed) at the old for sale forums. In a way they reflected the feel of the site. You were selling stuff, amongst like minded individuals, discussing it, having a laugh occasionally. I can't be bothered with the classifieds, it just doesn't work for me, I find it a bit clunky. As for the fee idea. I rarely buy or sell on here, so it would depend where the fee was pitched as to whether I would advertise stuff I'd want to sell. It would certainly put me off putting things like, maybe, strings or pickups in the classifieds section.
