Drummer in the band I was in last year always had to have a few to 'settle his nerves'. Claimed he'd play better for it. He was wrong, he was sh*t sober and sh*t after a few.

No sound you say. Have you tried turning the volume up?

None. Gig last night, I made not one mistake, but then I wasn't playing.

Gear is nice. However, having watched a brilliant bass player last night it's only practice that'll get me where I want to go. The guy I saw last night has had the same bass for 15years and it's not his gear that is impressive. Anyway, I plug into my main amp and then my practice combo, I always sound the same, so gear is just that, gear.

Matt Brooks. He's in Willie and the Bandits and he's an absolutely incredible bass player, just stunning.

PRS for Music should take the stick for compiling such a ridiculous list and JLS should be ashamed to receive such an 'award'. Their fan base is quite young and it gives the impression a hard working band only do 34 shows then take the rest of the year off. The band I'm going to see tomorrow do between 240 and 260 gigs a year, from small pub venues to having just come back from supporting Deep Purple in large venues in Europe. In between they are writing and recording. That to me is hard work.

EE have been picking up plaudits and nominations for various awards over the past few years, but still not quite broken through etc etc. If I were an A&R bod at their record company I would have been looking at the success of Alt-J, seeing this as a prime time to really push EE and trying to tap into it. They may sound different, however, they're occupying a similar space musically and I'd definitely be trying to hook some of Alt-J's audience. They're both 'Indie Pop/Rock' bands. For my taste, fussy, because each element seems to be trying to battle for attention and distracting from the whole, i.e the song itself. And yes all music is contrived. As soon as you have an idea and start to develop it it becomes contrived. However, I agree with discreet, this [b]feels[/b] like they have purposely gone out of their way to create something 'credible'. I don't hate their material, it just doesn't do anything for me either. I'm off to sharpen my knives and clean my shotgun whilst listening to some experimental jazz

Never heard of them before. If it's true, as the OP has said, that there are ads for them all over the internet then it would seem to me that their record company are pushing them hard on the tails of the succes Alt-J have enjoyed recently. "If you liked these guys then try these for size!!!" EE don't do an awful lot for me. It's like they're trying to hard, a bit fussy.

He's probably going to show people how to screw up your back by playing the bass around your ankles.

There's quite a few different nut sizes in the various Precision ranges. Then of course the profile (back to front) of the neck can be different. The Rockbass Corvette I had had a 38mm nut, so Jazz width, but was as chunky as. I hated it. The P bass I have has a 43.1mm nut but due to the profile I find much easier to play. As Conan said, you can't prejudge a neck by what it says the dimensions are. Pick it up and play it.

I do like the PB70, a lot. That's the one for me. I'm not a great fan of Jazz basses but some on the Fender Japan site are great looking.

...and that Mitch Mitchell still moving bits of kit around. The clip has a bass player in it, so I should imagine you're on safe ground in this forum They'd probably be written off as amateurs today and totally ignored.

In the end I bought Fender Mustang I. I was in a music shop, they had one I bought it. I can see why they are recommended as a home practice amp. It's an impressive little bit of kit and quite loud. As I don't intend to take my guitar playing any further than the living room it's perfect.

I might have to catch you guys as you play around my way a bit.
