1. Same as alot here, I sometimes use but generally will just browse. I spend much more time here. The only time I will actively post is to ask questions about MTD's or things where more members will have one than here (x2 etc)
2.
And a shop feels no pain.
And a shop never criiiies
3. The active/passive switch usually covers this for me, but a quick master vol tweak or volume on the bass tweak seems to sort it. Luckily my current settings seem to bring out the tone I want from all the basses I use live so I guess I'm lucky in that respect. Other than that all I can suggest is maybe using pedals or multi FX to try and fill the void (as previously suggested). Or if you can afford it maybe get a splitter and run the signal into a different amp that's set up accordingly? Actually you don't really need a splitter at all for that but there you go.
4. Heya, I'll be honest while I've noticed some players using warwicks I can't really say they've been in the majority. I've been to lots of metal gigs this year along with Download Fest and there seems to be a pretty even spread of Fenders, MMs, Ibanezes, Warwicks etc with the odd boutique bass thrown in, as I think would be expected in any genre really. I would venture to suggest some of the more influential bass players in metal use warwicks and since they get more coverage Metal is more readily associated with them. Who knows?
5. Bump for an awesome bass - I had one as my first five string and I can't think of a better introduction to the 5er world
6. Josh?! What are you doing?!
7. Looking absolutely awesome mate
8. After originally being told it would take a year, Joel sent me an email saying he might be able to deliver around NAMM time!
9.
Sweet - I hope you like the bass Tell us more about the basscentral hard sell? It sounds hilarious.
Thanks man , and as for the hard sell it was all in the extremely over eager OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!1!!!!1!one111!!!!! vein. And also they gave me a more expensive quote and then tried to sell me existing stock that wasn't what I was looking for. Oh well, I've dealt with them before and they are lovely guys, just slightly too full on sometimes. An extract from an email: "Just talked with Mike T as a matter of fact. He tells me we could have this exact Bass for you IN 3-4 MONTHS!!! NORMAL WAIT IS 12 MONTHS !!!! SALE PRICE $**** PLUS $295 SHIPPING VIA FED EX INSURED SHIPPING!!!!" and yes, it was in bold and italics.
10. While I was in Boston some guy was trying out amps in a Guitar Center with his 635...I started up a chat with him and got a little fiddle there
11. Haha, I'll be honest aesthetically I really really don't like Shukers  , can't really comment on their sound! Thanks for the info, I just got a confirmation of the order through from the grooveshoppe
12. Aaaaand I just came... Just a quick note though, this is really my first time for a custom build, so do I need to ask for build updates or will mike/grooveshoppe send them along? Also does anyone know how long it takes mike to make an instrument? I know the wait time is about a year, but how much of that is simply finishing existing orders?
13. That looks damn purdy Nice one! , more pics when completed?
14. Thought I'd start a little build diary for my upcoming baby . Should be here in 10-12 months! I've been saving a fair while for this and after realising I have more than enough to put a deposit down I contacted Mr. Mike to discuss wood options. I told him I was looking for a bright and growly bass, with a nice roundness in the lower mids that gives a bit of warmth to the overall sound, and he confirmed that the wood options I was looking at would help me along to that sound. I placed a deposit through the grooveshoppe as they gave me the best price and also seemed the most genuine (I got put off by the uber hard sell tactic basscentral went for ) , and now we're here today. Anyhoo! Specs! Specs: Ash Body Walnut Burl Top Ash Neck Birdseye Maple Fretboard Matching trussrod cover and headstock 21 Fret 35 inch scale The hardware and PUs are all standard MTD I'm so excited, will add pics as they arrive! This is really a dream come true
15.

Harry Potter plays bass...
16.
Definetly, man if you did live anywhere near to here you'd be welcome to try out my 635 to hear what that combo sounds like in person. Still, the next year is going to be a slow one for you, still an MTD build diary will be nice to see instead of Shukers all the time.
That's very kind of you , and the build diary never occurred to me! I'll make one when more details come in
17.
Did Mike give an estimated time?
I actually went through GrooveShoppe, and they are saying about 10-12 months, and Mike gave a similar time too, though he mentioned that the Bass Gallery and some other American shops had basses on order with flexible options. While it's going to suck waiting that long, being brutally honest it's probably going to work out better financially for it to take that long
18. Again as everyone said before it's all about taste. I prefer a new set for gigs though a completely dead set for recording...again, all personal taste and how much you use them.
19. 535, Ash body/walnut burl top, ash neck, birdseye maple neck, matching trussrod cover and headstock, 21 frets I'm so unbelievably excited
20. I would go with the CL if I had to choose between the two, however the best bass tone I've ever heard through an Ampeg 810E was with an Orange AD-200B / Mk3. It sounded ball breakingly good. Either way, post pics when you get your chosen head Best of luck!
21. Either way, just put the deposit down on that bad boy! Can't wait, been saving for so long
22. Gotta be: 1) James Jamerson - I just love everything about the man 2) James Leach - Think he's extremely creative in applying techniques 3) Nathan Watts - Like his tone, just like his playing in general
