1. One more thing. I never understand being asked to play until midnight in a venue where they're worried about the neighbours. Why not start earlier and play until 11pm?
2. Last before one pub gig we were asked after we turned the amps down as low as viable "Can you turn the drums down?" I'm going to stick a DFA volume knob on the kit for next time. Back to the OP. You're there. You're unloaded. You're set up. You're an employee for the night. Play the best you can within the constraints imposed and if you don't like it don't go back. At worst it's a paid rehearsal.
3. This is a good bit of Hot Rods action introduced by vintage Whispering Bob.
4.
No question about it, nothing to touch this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si2kis6lWRg"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si2kis6lWRg
Muzz my friend. You are spot on. The song that inspired my bass career and led to international fame and stardom...... The very last bit is slightly untrue.
5. Can't make it. Have a good one evrybody.
6. Ewww. That's a 7 pinter.
7. Boo. I'm in France Sunday 9th. Loved to have checked out Kit and the venue. Have a good one N.
8. Looks on the money to me.
9.
In the end though it's getting to the stage where we are getting tired of playing these kinds of gigs. Saturday's gig up in Gateshead very much brought that home. When we can travel hundreds of miles out of town, and the gig is well run the promoters are genuinely pleased to see us, the audience is visibly enthusiastic, plus we get paid and sell plenty of merchandise. Put this against our two most recent local gigs and playing in our home town no longer looks so appealing.
Know what you mean. We've only done a few of these 'multi band' gigs. They've not been a satisfying experience and we've decided to be fussy and pick and choose or organise them ourselves now. Sods law that it's always the gigs on your doorstep that are the most badly organised. Must get around to organising a gig with your lot soon.
10. I rank myself about 300 basses behind Clarky and HJ.
11. This is the only bass I've had GAS for in years. I've played it and it's quite lovely in every way. Unfortunately the LEB piggy bank is a sad hollow vessel at the moment.
12.
Jedward didn't win.
Nooo!!! What a way to find out. Why didn't somebody tell me? I'm seriously concerned about the integrity of this show now.
13. It looks like one of those old indian rosewood hippy coffee tables.
14. Free cake at the door. No it won't be from Amsterdam.....
15. 6'9" frontman with Messiah complex....
16.
Lots to think about. Ive had a look at the Sanamp vt programable any thought?
I have the non VT version and that does a great job of 'valving up' your sound.
17. As long as it's played through an Ampeg SVT toob head and two 8x10s. Otherwise it's worthless and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
18. Digitech Bad Monkeys can be picked up pretty cheap and do a good job. As Nick said previously.
19. Basschat gig. Support from Nine Miles South who are blackmn90's band
20. Good news! I give it 'til Thursday
21. DR Black Beauties seem to be good for it on a Precision. They sound like nearly new Rotosounds for quite a long time. I play with a 1mm plectrum at the bridge. That seems to work too....
22. I think the headstock perfectly matches the rest of the bass. They both look equally cheap. I quite like the idea of a mis-matched headstock. Just not this one.
23.
I'd have gone with cocobolo myself ...
Bubinga surely....
24. 1. I know what I want before I go in. 2. I briefly ask any relevant questions. 3. I may have a 5 minute test on the purchase if appropriate. 4. I then make payment and leave hopefully within 10 minutes of arrival. All this happens unless I get ignored or the staff are rude or patronising. Or the 5 minute test has had a negative result. Then I go somewhere else. I'm not a natural born shopper.
25.
To be honest if I was after a Jazz I'd prefer one with a P neck and pickups as I like them better.....I'll get me coat.
Sold twice!
