1. Are they evil pedals?
2. Lovely stuff Steve, I really loved the sound of that F Bass. The Nordy was a treat to play too.
3. Mike's a top bloke and an excellent bassist - we've bought and sold and swapped numerous things in the last couple of years. Buy with confidence!
4. Bump for final price reduction.
5. That Jazz is nice Russ - when did you get that one?
6. Everybody should own a Bongo at least once in their bass playing lifetime. They sound fantastic and they're a joy to play. Have a bump for a particularly fine example
7. Sorry, but I need to get a reverse-rant off my chest.... I instructed Marge to buy me a Wizard Thumper for my P Bass for Christmas and I fitted it myself on Boxing day. My P Bass sounded absolutely fantastic and I was really chuffed. I'd had to trim the pickguard a little to fit the pups but hadn't trimmed quite enough to allow the pickups to spring up and down as easily as I'd like so I took it off and filed a bit more off. I then decided to move the rubber thingy supporting one the pups as it wasn't quite central and the pup wasn't seated properly. To cut a long story short, like a complete arsewipe I ended up damaging the windings on one of the pups so I sent it back to Andy at Wizard explaining what I'd done to his lovely pickup and would he fix it and send me a bill for the repair. It came back by return and he'd completely rewound the pup and even soldered new wires on. He charged me postage only which I thought was pretty astounding. Unfortunately, there was a slight problem with one of the poles so I rang Andy and told him about it and he asked my to get my electrician friend to check it before sending it back, and I was going to do that this afternoon BUT...a brand new pickup arrived this morning with a note telling me to send the original one back. My missus bought the pup 4 weeks ago and yet, Andy even remembered her name mentioning it on the note. What a breath of fresh air - buy a replacement pup for your P or J for that matter anywhere else and you're mad. Wizards sound better than any pickup I've ever heard on a P, they're cheap and the service is just fantastic. Reverse rant over - got some soldering to do.
8. I'm an ex-guitarist, been in bands since the 60's but was asked by a friend who was in a glam tribute band to play bass for them so I bought a P and a TE combo and set off. That band didn't last long and I soon got into another on bass but in this short space of time, I discovered that I really enjoyed playing bass and here I am 3 years later and still at it. I only play to gig and when the gigging stops, all the gear will go. Sad but true.
9. I played this bass last Saturday - it is truly stunning and if I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate.
10. That's a pity Dave - I wish I could be there but sadly I can't. Good luck finding a new band.
11. That's disappointing BB - and from what I've read and experienced, unusual for Roger.
12. Any interest in this flightcase? It's in very good nick - my cab (which it was made for) measures 28" tall, 20" wide and 17" deep so I guess the internal dimensions are a gnat's bigger than that. £30 - no offers, prefer collection / meet but will ship at your cost if necessary.
13. You're not very tall Wil, makes your rig look enormous mate.
14. WOW - a bargain I was expecting £2,000 +
15. Here ya go - mine now longer has the J-Retro as I've made it passive again. With a Jeannie's black cherry tort (which you can have for £25) - never used cos the black is too sexy..
16. I'll stick my neck out and say it doesn't make that much difference to the audience. That said, you stand a better chance of being able to play week in and week out with better (more reliable) gear and the reason I strive to equip myself with the best gear I can justify is because I don't want the gear to be a factor or get in the way of what I want to do.
17. We've been asked a couple of times for evidence of PAT testing and on both occasions I've asked to see evidence of their IEE Fixed Installations 5 yearly examination and on each occasion they disappeared and never came back.
18.
Anyone know of a guitar shop in Yorkshire that stocks them? I'm based in Hull, but can travel... Can't decide between LPB and white subject to me liking the neck of course.
I think you'll struggle to find a shop in Yorkshire that stocks them. I'm coming to Hull one day next week (probably Weds), I don't mind sticking my DJ4 in the boot if you want to try and meet up so you can try it. If you like it, you can buy over t'internet. Let me know if you want to do so.
19.
Tools for the job - vintage, modern and loud. SC200 is not here as it is undergoing a rebuild.
The name - WEM is so evocative of my early days. We used to gig with a 100 watt WEM PA!!! Love the Epi stuff but I wouldn't like to tote that Trace cab Dave
20. Sent me his knobs, I sent him a fiver. We've been close friends ever since.
21. Very nice Chris - on a technical note...how many P's are there in a pod?
22. Public Liability insurance is not compulsory but Employer's Liability is.
23.
NO CHUFFIN WAY!!!!!!!!! Can't believe you managed to wangle the EBS out of Flanker!! gutted mate!!!! Thats one preamp I'd love to own.. oh well.. I guess if there is even the slightest chance you change your mind.. you know where I am!!!!! I would sell gear if one of those came up second hand. I don't think they are worth the new price.. but they are stunningly good!!!! Congrats mate.. I have played through Flanker's EBS/QSC/Epifani combo at a bass bash and it was stunning.
Sorry Dood - Steve said you'd be gutted.
24.
Nice one Al. So that's where the 212NYC is now. That is a stonking cab although a bit heavy. Walbassist and I tested that side by side with my two 1x12s. That cab is soooo deep.
Dave - can you make me a 2ft cable to connect the pre to the power please - I'll post you a cheque tomorrow. Thanks.
