1. When I was starting out on bass I got a lot of pains here and there but after each session, I'd rub some arnica cream into the affected muscle and it always worked for me.
2.
There you go Homer - two weeks ago you were threatening to chuck it all in due to half empty venues and unappreciative punters P
Yeh - it was like the good old days - we needed that one.
I wish we'd come there, ended up at the Hop Pocket altough only stayed a short time as they had on the worst Elvis tribute ever!!! lol Good band on there next week though
You'd have enjoyed it Mike - it was a stonker. We're down in Amersham this coming Saturday otherwise I would have come to the HP with you.
3. I wouldn't be without my BT - I play along to stuff for an hour every morning before I go to work with the headphones on and then again at night through my stereo fairly loud without headphones - it's as good as any practice amp and invaluable for learning stuff.
4. We were at The Black Bull in Preston town centre and it was packed to the rafters There was a really good atmosphere and we went down a storm which is just as well as we nearly had to call it off at the last minute - singer had a temperature and sore throat, drummer chucked up twice before we went on. Lot of bugs going around up here.
5. Ok - here's a picture of the pots and knobs - the knobs are definitely wrong. I've just soldered everything up and it's all working fine. Gotta order a new c/p and knobs I guess
6. The pots look about right but the knobs don't. Inside the knobs I have, there's brass sleeves. I'll check in the morning - can't be arsed now, I've just seen Status Quo at Blackpool and me 'ead's bangin'
7.
J-Retro is complete with new metal stack-knobs. Somewhere I have a box with my pots and knobs. I'll dig it out and take some pix. Sounds very much like you do not have the original knobs.
I think what's happened is they've got mixed up with maybe Fender Jazz knobs or whatever when the J-Retro was fitted by The Gallery. I rang them today on the off-chance, they still had the originals in a box somewhere but apparently the person I need to speak to isn't in until Monday. Won't be gigging with the DJ this weekend then
8. They are solid shafts where my knobs go - not split ones . Dave - you do get new pots with a J-retro and new double thingy stacking knobs. These are supposed to be the original knobs going back onto the original pots that the bass was manufactured with.
9. There is indeed a grub screw and yes, they are all fully unscrewed but thanks.
10. I'm convinced they're the wrong knobs and that maybe the Gallery have made a mistake. I'm going to call them later and see if they still have the right ones from February (long shot or what?)
11. I've just put the old pots back into my Lakland DJ and bugger me I can't get the control knobs back on - even using quite a bit of force. Is it possible they've shrivelled up with age or do you think it's possible they're the wrong knobs. The Gallery fitted the J-Retro I just took out so I'd be surprised if they belong to another bass. Is it time to get the Vaseline out or a hammer? Shall I warm 'em up a bit in the oven?
12. Just returned your PM sharkfinger - sorry I didn't realise you'd resurrected this thread. I put the whole rig up and withdrew it, sorry for any confusion.
13. We have a wedding in Amersham in December - probably about 4 hours each way, furthest I've ever been.
14. EBS Multicomp. I sold mine and have regretted it every day since. I'm using a T-Rex CompNova now, which is very good. It's also a sickly shade of avocado green - the advantage of that being that thieves will look at it and walk away.
15. What's to lose Mike - come up one night and I'll take you 'round to meet Nick.
16. Hello Pete, I assume that you just affix the (loose) controls to your existing control plate or have I missed something? I think it may be sold - just waiting for confirmation.
17. Bump for reduction in price.
18. OK you tightwads £20 delivered - not going any lower.
19. Thanks Platypus - this is now sold
20. Hi KO, I think Crazikiwi was selling one of his GK RBs - highly recommended mate.
21. People have been asking me what model this is, I haven't got a clue - only that it's fitted to a Lakland Darryl Jones so here's a better pic - hope this helps.
22. Can't see me ever taking the black one off my Darryl so this is for sale. Cost $54 + shipping + customs charges - it's brand new and has never been screwed to a bass. You can have it for £20 delivered. Please note, there is a slight gap between the p/g and the control plate (but not as much as appears in the photo because it's just resting on top of the fitted one in the pic) which I believe is normal for a Jeannie's PG but this is a quality piece of work.
23. I haven't a clue what to ask for this - if £45 delivered is too much, let me know. Pic of it somewhere in this post http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=8715
24. J-Retro - this cost £200 fitted (by The Bass Gallery) NOW REDUCED to £90 This is it http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=8715
