Bass for a player with hands like shovels....
niceguyhomer replied to angelboy's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Is this some kind of joke? If so can someone delete this - it's just f**ked up my computer and got all the IT geeks excited. -

Time to streamline my Musicman collection
You know the story young single lad has own bacherlor pad full great of guitars, meets girl, falls in love, girlfriend moves in, then one day your hit with the question "why do you have so many guitars when you can only play one at once" and "wouldn't this make a great bedroom".
I wish I had a pound for everytime that's happened to me...I'd be penniless As stated earlier - nice basses Rickster, good luck with the sale. -

Anybody got a vgc EBS Multicomp they'd like to swap for my T-Rex Comp Nova plus cash from me (poss up to £30 depending on condition). This is a cracking compressor but for purely superficial reasons I want to swap it for a Multicomp so it matches my new Microbass pedal here's a link http://www.t-rex-engineering.com/default.a...age&id=2344
Sorry for the (hopefuly not too) stupid question, but how does it sound compare to a GK MB 150 (except louder...) I am looking for a light cab for my Acoustic Image with good bass extension, that will suffer more power than the Contra EX cab I have for it... Any insight compare to an Eden 410XLT, an Eden 210XST, the GK MB150 or the Contra are welcome pa
Sorry tremblap, I'm not going to be of any use here because I haven't played through any of the cabs you've mentioned. All I can say is it really is a nice sounding cab that will handle rehearsals and small gigs - of course that depends on the sort of music you play and how loud your band is. I was a bit surprised when Mike tried it yesterday and said he thought it sounded better than the Aguilar 112 that we've both owned in the past. Sorry again - I'm not much use.

My band is cutting back on the backline and sending more through FOH, so somebody is going to get a bargain. 2 weeks old (from new) 300 watts into 8 ohms, very light, couple of v. minor scuffs on the tolex but otherwise as delivered. Great cab - read the reviews or PM mikeh who's played through it and can vouch for its integrity. £265 delivered within a reasonable distance of Preston or meet halfway - otherwise, will ship in the original packaging at your cost. Incidentally, I could be persuaded to part with most of my rig for the right money/suitable swap...

Give the distributor - Beyer Dynamic a call, they'll be able to help.

Try a Sterling - lovely slim neck.

My Sterling is the most comfortable bass I've ever played, small, light and a really nice neck profile. I also found my Bongos really comfortable when I had them.

I really like Hull, I like the people and that to me is the most important thing...oh and the fish & chips (forgot about the patties, how could I?)
-
Hello the face - I'm a regular visitor to Hull (work) - best fish and chips in the world.
-
I've ordered one off Bernie Goodfellow - hoping to have it by the weekend. Then you'll get bombarded with homerposts cos I don't know how to work the thing. I don't even know what phantom power is.

I knew you'd show up WOT - I feel a purchase coming on and I've been looking at the EBS for some time now - I know how impressed you are with it. We did a showcase yesterday and had a band meeting shortly after. We're going to cut down the backline and put everything through the PA. In an ideal world, a lightweight 2x10 combo and the EBS would be just the job but I think I'm stuck with my GK rig for now on account that you can't sell anything at the moment.

You're absolutely right Nick

Just got home after doing a showcase at the British Legion in Leyland and what an ordeal - I'm knackered. Five acts turned up at 11.30 with all the gear under the sun, told that the first act has to go on at 12.30 after the hot pot - oh and by the way, did I mention that our band was last on at 3.30? No time for anyone to do a proper soundcheck either. Three solo artists and a three piece band (no drums) led the proceedings (25 mins each) - all with f. backing tapes and huge PAs (can't believe that we couldn't agree that only one PA should do everyone but there ya go). We just took our small PA and tops only - no bass bins and we had a hard time filling a big room with our sound...BUT at least we did get 'em up dancing. We got two bookings immediately after the show so it was probably worth it but what a nightmare. The only positive I can draw from the experience is it did actually help to reaffirm my heartfelt opinion that people who use backing tapes should be taken outside and flogged with a sh1tty stick. Bogus...totally f. bogus indeed. Ah well, life goes on - gotta go and cook Sunday dinner now.

Why Does My MM Sterling Smell So Nice?
niceguyhomer replied to Rumple's topic in Repairs and Technical
Mine smells of toffee - I make everyone smell it and they think I'm weird, suppose I am really. -
My band's moving more and more towards DIing at every gig, which is great news now that I've just spent £309 on a second cab I probably don't need. Anyway, what's the best thing to do DI wise? I have a Tapco DI box I paid £30 for - bought for emergencies and at the moment I DI directly from my GK1001RBII. My tutor suggested getting a preamp/DI thing - probably a Sadowsky or EBS Microbass but is it going to be better than what I use now soundwise?
