2. Me? I'd play for nothing cos I don't do it for the money. Sure, £120 is taking the piss but I'd still do it.
3.
My Epi 3x10 has more punch than Mike Tyson, it has a nice deep low end as well, Try one of those.
I wish I'd kept mine
4. Public liability insurance is NOT compulsory. When they ask you for evidence of PAT testing - ask to see evidence of their IEE Wiring Regulations Fixed installations examinations. If they can't produce that tell them to f*** off.
5. Luvvly jubbly Peter - I feel a drive to Kendal coming on. If only I had the patience...
6. Sounds Great at Heald Green (near the airport) is outstanding and is easily the best place around Manchester. Only trouble is there isn't a massive selection of basses (20-25) and nearly all the amplification is Markbass.
7. In the 70's my band at the time supported Medicine Head at Liverpool University. More recently Dave Finnegan (Mickah Wallace in The Commitments) occasionally gets up and sings with us. *Edit* Nearly forgot - the landlord of one of our regular gigs gets up and beats the skins when we can't fight him off - he was the drummer in Pinkerton's Assorted Colours who were kinda well known in the 60s.
8. I would have done it for Kylie
9.
Hi, why you thinking of selling that beauty? Cheers
Hi Tom, I have a really nice Sterling with a Nordstrand pup and that does the Stingray sound so I was just thinking about maybe swapping for something that'll give me a different sound to be honest. I won't get stressed if it doesn't sell cos it really is a lovely bass and I was thinking of putting a John East preamp in if I keep it. I just thought I'd see what was out there I suppose.
10. baaaahump......
11. Nice one, I wish I had a stronger back - I could have kept it for the rest of my playing days but I'm pleased you're liking it.
12. I'm not sure about this but I thought there's no harm in testing the water. This is a superb bass in every respect, it sounds like a Stingray should, it's a joy to play and it's in exceptional condition. It comes in the OHSC and also with a black scratchplate. I paid £700 in effect for it so if you want to buy it, you'll have to come fairly close to that to prise it out of my sticky mitts. Trades are welcome but please note, I'm only looking for something of equal or slightly higher value with cash adjustment +/- if necessary. I like Laklands, Spectors and some Fenders - maybe a Stingray 5 but I've got an open mind - can be 4 or 5 strings. More pics available if you want them..
13.
Have you played through an Epifani t-212? (sorry to be off topic).
No - I had a UL310.
14.
You must let us know how you get on with the GK 2x12.
Will do Dave - I think it'll be on the floor tonight. The place we're playing has a stone floor and walls and it's a long narrow room that's just wide enough for guitar, bass and drums. A bit of a challenging debut methinks. Anyway, I played it quite loudly at home yesterday afternoon and I couldn't get over the fact that for the first time, my Stingray actually sounded like a Stingray. Looking forward to tonight.
15. Just got my GK Neo 212 and it comes with castors and as I've never had anything with castors on before, I was wondering whether to leave 'em on or take 'em off during a gig. Do they affect sound?
16. Well my new GK 212 NEO has arrived and I've just sneaked home and had a twang. First impressions are very good, nice and light, well made, sounds good / loud enough BUT...(I know I'm anal) there's a bit of cosmetic mischief that tells me it's the one out of the showroom. Some of the stain finish has peeled off the logo and there's a 2"x1" blob of white stuff on the back that looks like paint. There's also a bit of dust in the corner protectors. I'm not really bothered about it and don't think there's anything wrong with buying something out of the showroom but I object in principle to paying full whack for ex-demo gear. Ah well, at least I've got a cab for tomorrow night's gig in Kendal.
17. Thank G I can't see the pictures any more - they're broken...phew.
18. You've no idea how much this is torturing me...no idea
19.
Deeply sexy - isn't it?
I believe she's a good bassist - but she has her knockers
20. I met Chris at Norton Canes on the M6 when he bought my Schroeder. He was such a nice bloke, I didn't bother checking the money when I handed over my cab. Imagine my surprise when I got home and it was £60 short!! Just kidding - Chris is a gentleman, it was a pleasure to do business with him.
21. Thanks Chris - it was a pleasure meeting you
22. Mmmm...1200 - the year of my birth too
23.
I'm not old or cynical though.
I'm both
