1. Not at all Mr. Mike - that is a droolworthy 'Ray and the price is right. If I wasn't going on holiday in 4 weeks, I'd have it myself. Times are hard and it's a buyer's market, you have to practically give stuff away to sell it.
2. We played at a 60th birthday party last night, a big do for someone who'd seen us at a pub gig and liked what they saw. As usual at these affairs, there was a d*sco and this was no exception. We arrived at about 6 o clock and the 'record player' had more or less set up and f. me he had some gear - there must have been £20,000's worth - all flightcased, superb kit - he did it for a living. He did the usual thing and played records at stupid volumes while we were setting up while looking down his nose at our ramshackle gear - a veritable cocky little tw4t indeed in his t-shirt emblazoned with his disco logo. He went on first and it was the usual thing - whip up a few onto the dancefloor and keep interrupting the music with their inane drivel. By the time he was coming to the end of his slot, the number of people on the dancefloor had dwindled to about 10 (there were about 300 people there). Then he begrudgingly handed over to us - "the turn's coming on now" as he put it adding "...who said noooooooooo..?" on the end of his patter. Imagine our pleasure as the dance floor completely filled with about 200 people when we opened with our first number and they stayed until the last of the first set. The second set was wild - a real party atmosphere, even the smokers came inside and you couldn't find anywhere to dance on the dance floor. Everyone was up for it, Mr. Cocky Tw4t with too much testosterone by now, sat in the corner looking very sheepish. Priceless. We did three encores and when we finished, the d*sco came back on and the dance floor emptied. Long live live music I say.
3. I was lucky enough to see Rory live at Liverpool Stadium not long before he died - I loved that guy.
4. I had a Trace rig - 300AH head and a 1048H cab and hated the awful sound that came out of it so I sold the head and bought a Little Mark II and it sounded much much better. I was happy with the sound I was getting but eventually got fed up risking my back every time I put it in, or took it out of the car so I sold the cab and bought 2 Aguilar 112s. So - from my experience and, IMHO, the Little Mark will be a good choice as would the GK.
5. I'm absolutely sure the market will dictate what you get for it Paubass but at the moment it's not easy to sell anything. Beautiful bass but a bit too much for me 4 weeks away from my holiday! Good luck fella.
6. Lindy Fralins - 'nuff said.
7. I think £800's ok for a minter but this one wasn't. It'd seen a few gigs.
8.
Ok guys help me out with some advice. What do people think? I play blues and “post-punk” and have been playing on and off for about 4 years.
Well I had serious GAS for one of these a couple of months ago and got to try a used one at Electromusic at Doncaster. It sounded fantastic for its size and I nearly bought it on the spot but he was asking £800 for it, which I thought was expensive. They really are great combos and I came away planning to buy a new one and a seperate 4x10 or something so I could take the head out and use it for bigger rooms but I couldn't find anyone stocking a new one at a sensible price so I gave up. Great little combo, sounds really nice and plenty loud enough for small rooms.

What Rayman said - and don't expect to find 'the' bass right away. It'll take a while for you to find out what you like or don't like but the best advice is always try as many as you can before you buy.
10.
Thanks all for your replies - Homer's suggstion made me splutter tea all over my keyboard! It'll be good training for the Colne blues weekend anyway. David
- looking forward to finally seeing the Welsh T Band at Colne, and hopefully Doctor Dave's lot too. I think Wayne58's band Slingshot are doing it too, can't wait. Oh and good luck with the fingers Dave.
11. I use a Brooklyn Gear padded strap. It's like a Comfort Strapp but costs a bit more - highly recommended.
12. The Nordstrand pup is the most often suggested one. It's an exact copy of the original pre Ernie Ball MM pups IIRC. Sounds monstrous on my Sterling.
13. Take some Immodium with ya Dave - it won't help your fingers, but it'll stop you shitting yourself when they turn black and drop off.
14. It should be law that everyone on Basschat should own this bass at least once.
15. If anyone's interested, I AB'd the TC Vintage and T-Rex at Soundsgreat (Manchester) and couldn't see any reason for paying the extra £35 (except for the aesthetics) for the TC, so I bought the T-Rex in toxic waste green. I gigged with it last night and initial impressions are very good - it ain't a Multicomp but it does the job very nicely indeed. I really like the simplicity of the thing and the chicken head knobs give it a vintage feel as does the 60's avocado bathroom suite casing. F it, it's dark on stage anyway.
16. I used my 410 for the first time in anger last night. I was using my Sterling and new T-Rex Comp Nova compressor and with everything set flat, it was loud and very punchy. I always sound check out front using a long lead and it sounded great in the mix - very clean and quite percussive (ie - trouser flapping). When it went quiet during soundcheck, I walked back to the amp/cab and played a few notes and I thought, bloody hell I'm too loud but I wasn't too loud in the mix at all. On the whole, I'm very pleased - it sounds a bit ballsier than the Epifani UL310 I had and I could hear myself much better...BUT, it is heavy and because of the weight, I don't know if it's a long term keeper. I could carry my Epifani one handed up a flight of stairs, but this needs two people to carry it more than 10 feet on the flat. In conclusion, I would say the Schroeder sounds better than the Epi IMHO, I'm not sure the positive benefits of the good sound outweigh the negative that is the weight of the thing. Time will tell.
17. Nowt Andy, absolutely nowt. Read the first coupla posts here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2773 and it might make sense.
18.
that these people are just idly dripping through like naughty mangos fleeing the watery plight of a really cheap colander. paul.
Poetry, I wish I'd said that.
19.
I hope the unit doesn't colour the sound too much.
Good grief - now there's a thought, as if my bass playing wasn't bad enough and now I wanna colour it dysentry green
20.
My opinion would be to buy the T-Rex Compnova instead, it's made by the same people with the same parts, but put in a different box with a different name and sold under a different brand. And it's a lot cheaper.
Thanks for the tip 1976 - Sounds Great in Manchester sell 'em for £95 and the TC one for £129, I'll go and have a butcher's tomorrow. sh*tty colour though
21. Still trying to avoid buying an EBS Multicomp - anyone tried or got opinions on the TC Electronics Vintage Compressor?
22. It's me hormones - I can't help it
23. I tried one once, it blew me away (sorry, time of month)
24. Must get to another of your gigs Dave - Wayne58's gonna come with me.
