1. All I'll say is ...if you punch them, will they not bleed?
2. I deliberately put mistakes in so people don't mistake me for a backing tape
3. ...and replied to Tom.
4. I tried a Peavey Grind 6er at Music Live and was astounded at the quality of the thing for the money, especially with the through-neck construction. Thing is with budget instruments is you have to watch the quality control - as Bassassin says, it's a lot better these days but trying before you buy is always the best advice. I'd be wary of mail-ordering anything 'budget' personally but with some things it's not always possible to try first.
5. Yep Hutton - that got me moist
6. Sorry Steve, maybe a ride on the Royal Daffodil or the Royal Iris up the river to New Brighton might help - all that fresh air and turdbergs
7. Schroeder 410R, 1400 watts @ 4ohms in excellent condition with nice plastic cover. Only had it a few weeks and it sounds fantastic BUT the truth is - at 85lbs, it's too heavy to lift on my own and we DI a lot more these days so I'd like something smaller & lighter. Read the rave reviews: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...10+Cabinet/10/1 Specs here: http://www.schroedercabinets.com/410.htm Solid as a rock and bloody loud. I paid another BCer £550 for it - you can have it for £480 delivered within an hour's drive of Preston otherwise you pay the shipping. Swaps considered for lighter cab(s) but must be top stuff or a USA Jazz / Precision / Lakland
8. 2007 innit? Sorry Matt
9. Glad you moved the pup Matt - I never said anything when you got it but it looked a bit weird to me with pup closer to the neck.
10.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmm........... Motown Nirvana As well as listening to those CD's, a fun film to watch is The Commitments. Hamster
Dave Finnegan (Mickah Wallace) sings with us from time to time if we're near Burnley where he lives. He's doing a tour of the UK at the moment but last time we played in Burnley, his lady asked us to play at his birthday (I think it's his 40th) coming soon I believe. Here's pic of him taken at our last gig at The Duck & Boot in Burnley when he last got up and sang. Pissed as a fart he was..
11.
Good set! How do you get on with Sex Machine - I've never heard anyone play it quite like the original? Alex
TBH Alex - I used to just do a simple groove that fitted but since I've been taking lessons and my technique's improved I more or less play the Bootsy version note for note. It is a pig to play but it just makes the song IMO
12. Been there and done that - great stuff wazz - very professional.
13. Oy wazz - I've been thinking about dropping one of John's preamps into my Ray - especially as it only costs £125 with the mid-sweep. D'ya reckon it's worth doing? How does it sound?
14.
oh blimey Al, is that a 1 piece body on your sterling?! Phwoaaar. I did sell it (funnily enough, Cass Lewis almost bought it) but then I found one that was even rarer than a normal cutlass - one with a 3 bolt neck and there's only about 5 of them known
It is indeed a one piece body sir
15. OK - I'm whipping mine out too (love that natural 'Ray of yours CK - beautiful, bet it plays like a dream) My stirring Sterling
16.
If anyone gets the chance to go and see Alans band " Nice Guy Eddie" do so, they're such a great band, cool as f*** and tight as a fishes arse (especially when it's their round at the bar). I'm not a soul man particularly, but I loved the set when I saw them. Give me that over some tosser spinning disks, every time.
Aw shucks - thanks Russ mate - you should come and see us again with our new drummer Zoe - she's astounding. Mike saw us a few weeks ago and couldn't get over how much better the band sounds with her beating the skins. She's a big girl too, dwarfs me!
17. Looks ok for the money BassManKev but the words "ace" and "pro" would make me run away faster than "shoot".
18. I've never used one but my mate mikeh has and he really likes 'em - why don't you send him a PM?
19. I would have recommended a Lakland Joe / DJ - they beat Fenders hands down IME but I didn't recommend one because in the first post you said you couldn't justify the USA Jazz price tag and the Lakkies cost more but they're definitely worth stretching your budget for.
20. I had a Marcus - lovely bass, sounds wonderful soloed but I found in a band setting, it just went missing in the mix. If I was buying a Jazz, I'd buy a Japanese Reissue.
21. PM mikeh on here - he does that.
22. Trades are the way to go at the moment with maybe a little money changing hands either way - unless of course you're slimming down your inventory or raising some cash.
