    Newtone strings can hand wind you a slightly higher tension string which would mean you can have it in Drop D tuning with whatever gauge you like, and still have the same action and impact as standard tuning, although they'd feel a bit tight if you tuned back up to standard again. (do you mean just Drop D, or Drop D Standard, so DADG or DGCF?)? I use Newtones exclusively for standard tuning, and also a high tension set for Drop C standard. And the price, about the same as a set of Elites....delivered, nice Si p.s. most think that increased tension is caused by thicker gauge strings, thats true to a small degree, but the majority of tension is controlled by the core of the string. Newtone can increas the size of the core to suit your tuning, potentially allowing you to use thin gauges for low tunings if you don't want fat strings.

    Just so people know the model, is it the one with two jazz pickups or two soapbars? I had 2 of the soapbar 5 strings (the higher model) a couple of years ago, very nice basses, the one i brought new i sold for a £300 loss. The one i brought 2nd hand i sold for the same price albeit after having paid £50 for a defret. Nice basses, but stuff like this just doesn't hold its value in the slightest good luck mate Si

    Its funny you should talk about vocalising things Mikey. Quite often when we're bored in the band van (especially on tour) we'd practice polyrhythms by each picking a different set of words and seeing how long we could go before someone messed up Our faves were: What-is-the-beef = 4 against Cheese-on-toast = 3 against Un-i-ver-sit-y = 5 anyway, quite fun lol Si

I know people who have been together and extremely happy for 15 years without needing to get married. And i've never seen the point in LOOONG engagements, just love each other till you can afford to get married then do it straight away. Don't get rushed into it, you're only 22 dude.     How can an amp be more efficient running through 1 cab at 4 ohms, if you're running 2 cabs at 8ohms, therefore running the amp down to 4ohms, then its exactly the same resistance and power output. It would also sound louder with two cabs as you're pushing more air through more speakers. For example if you were running your amp with one 4ohm 2x10 and the same amp with two 8ohm 2x10's, i would expect the amps efficiency to be exactly the same!! But i would expect the larger rig to 'sound' louder Not that i know ANYTHING about amps really lol Si
