Vanderkley are better than Barefaced cabs, right?!
Sibob replied to Al Krow's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yup, try both in a live environment (i.e. at a gig), the only way to truly know which you prefer! Anything else is just other peoples preferences. Si -
I had an earth loop recently so pronounced that the tuner was picking it up , G# I think it was , now that was a noise , it eventually turned out that a new consumer unit in the garage had been fitted with the tails the wrong way around so the whole house was reverse polarity !!
Laaaaaaame lol Si

Slightly odd relic'ing, never seen an actual vintage with that kind of wear......but other than that, looks cool! Si

SE Bass Bash 2017 - with Steve Lawson and Davey Rimmer
Sibob replied to Silvia Bluejay's topic in Events
I'm a big fat question mark for this......so I won't put myself in the list yet. Mrs out in the morning (so I have Finn), then I have a gig in the evening. We'll see. Si -
My father in law has met him at a gig, apparently had a lovely chat and a beer with him. He said he's a really nice bloke and also commented on his great sense of humour. I've been a fan for several years now but not had chance to see him live yet.
Absolutely, had a chat with him a couple of times and he always makes time, lovely guy! Si
He also knows how to throw a strop when he had his run in with Tecamp...
He's had a few run-ins, including one with TC Electronics too! To be fair, he's just protecting his brand! But he's wonderful, killer bassist, singer, composer, guitarist, drummer, piano player, producer.....you name it, he's pretty much mastered it. As you'd imagine, he's a bit more 'out there' with his playing live, so if you get to see a show, definitely go! Si

New Fender Signature Bass - Justin Meldal-Johnsen RW Mustang Bass
Sibob replied to Musicman20's topic in Bass Guitars
A few places seem to have removed their links (which are still live on Google), not live on Fender website, so looks like some dealers jumped early on the release....naughty $1799 dollars though, big money for a Mustang, looks nice though! Si -
My old Dell laptop had an earth connection through its power supply, so connecting any earthed musical kit caused a loud hum. I replaced the power supply with a generic one (with Class II wiring - no earth connection) and all was fine.
Yeah, seems to be happening more and more now we're seeing cheaper and cheaper PC laptops. Si

These are for the collectors, probably will be bought by people who have all three of the originals. There's limited numbers of them, they'll sell out I bet! Especially to those who are gigging their originals, and perhaps want to retire them......new versions of their old pedals? They'll lap that up! Si
Bass Club Chicago has something similar (passive 44-Dual J in LPB) for only US$2289. Add a bit for shipping and a lot for importing one. My guess: between 2800-3000 pounds.
Yeah that's one of their 'standard' US models, so still US built, but no customization, just built for dealers. I didn't want a Jazz bass, so had a P/J custom instead. Guitar Guitar have an active US 44-14 & a passive JJ 5 too: https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/160805301292007--lakland-us-44-14-classic-black-rw https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/160314296047007--lakland-us-55-passive-dual-j-lake-placid-blue-mn-550066 Si
Nice, did you have any import grief with "Cites" wrt rosewood fingerboard?
None that I'm aware of. Si
If you don't mind me asking, what was the pricing on something like this? I'd love a US lakland (My Skyline is delightful) But they ones that I see over here don't give me the specs that I want!
PM'd you. I have a 55-01 (Skyline) too, and that's really good (with swapped out electronics), but this is definitely a step up with woods and build quality: The rosewood on the 44-94 is beautifully dark, with some nice figuring (difficult to capture), but the birdseye maple dots really add something extra IMO: And you can certainly tell the different cuts of the neck from the maple grain, Quarter-sawn on the US & Flat-Sawn on the Skyline: Si

Falling asleep here, but here's a pic, more tomorrow: Cheers Si

That sounds like a ground loop hum.....which usually only rears it's ugly head when monitoring over speakers (with unbalanced cables) as opposed to being recorded and also heard on Headphones. But hey, computers can be weird! If it's a cheap laptop, then the internal power supplies are often a bit crap, sometimes once they're engaged (by plugging in the power), they can cause the USB ports to act strangely. We saw this with a number of laptops simply dropping peripheral devices on some USB ports when connecting to power, perhaps in your case it's just adding some noise if struggling to power it properly.....maybe. Would be interesting to test the 2i2 on other computers that perhaps fall above yours in the budget/specs etc. Anyway, I know it's not idea, but at least you've found the culprit. If you still want some advice, do contact Tech Support, as they will be more on top of any recent known issues with laptop brands than I am. Cheers Si
Humming is still there. I tweaked the gate and humming noise only comes back when I play.Yhis is really frustrating.
Talk to Tech Support, there may be a fault but they'll help trouble shoot it. Si

I think it's a case that he likes doing it, and some people buy them....good luck to him Si
They do give the impression of being created from random Ebay parts & a belt sander.
I'm not sure about that, bit cynical, I think they're being quite upfront about everything: "I’m starting my little project called “ReBirth Custom Guitars” which basically recycles forgotten & unwanted basses and guitars and brings them back to life again! I customise them myself and sometimes with some professional help as well. It’d be nice to make these left behind guitars and basses up to a decent working level. I’m not specialising in relic style. I customise and refine used guitars and basses with some characters. If you are looking for “Original” or “Real” ones!?, it is not for you. But every guitar is original with its own right to me. Most of guitars and basses here are for sale and the prices are all different which depends on how much time and money I spend on them." Obviously he's a bassist and just a bit of an enthusiast, people have an idea, perhaps don't have a massive budget, talk to someone like Taka, make it happen. Si

I asked and the black Tele bass with Thunderbird pickup (most recent pic on the Facebook group) would be circa £600. Also looks like he sources the parts used based on the requirements of the customer, so they're not all necessarily from the same place. Si

It's a fantastic day, super chilled, wonderful music and just really relaxing day. We went last year as well as the last time Kate played. Wish I could go next week, but have a gig this year typically. Cheers Si
John is fantastic. I had a custom one made with a transformer for my orange line out. So cheap and the quality is unbelievable.
Couldn't agree more! Si
-
Very cool!! Horray for Laklands. I sold my DJ4 to buy a US 44-94 (currently in customs), but would absolutely get another! Si
Get the classic. It's ace
I got a custom . It's the Micro guts, with an added unbalanced out as through to my amp, with that unbalanced out also having a transformer (to avoid ground loops). XLR balanced out on the rear edge of it (not pictured). £42 inc delivery and a two day turnaround from order to delivery: Si
