1. I love having fewer basses. Not down to one, but was at three for last couple of years, currently at two, but looking for a third (on the cusp of ordering I think). I guess my 'main' bass is my '71 Precision with flats, but that's obviously not perfect for every situation, so am looking for a quality P/J 4 string to have with roundwounds etc. Also have a cheap but quality 5 string for the few gigs that call for it (Lakland 55-01). Three, to me, seems to be the magic number :-D Si
2.
The bypass sucks the soul out of the clean tone pretty bad. Because of that I don't use it.
Really? In what way? I ask because it's a true bypass switch, so the bypass isn't touching the circuitry.....which means it won't tone suck by design. It would surprise me if the Tender Octaver Pro sounds the same (as good?) as the previous version. EHX has it shut down for a reason, I suspect the algorithm Mooer used being too similar if not the same as the POG. So they likely had to change it for the Pro. Si
3. Hi Rich, As it happens, I'm a member here, and also work for Focusrite, so I can answer a couple of questions here It depends which iTrack product you're referring to really, I think you're either referring to the iTrack Solo or iTrack One Pre. With either of them, you do not need to use a DI Box, as they each have an instrument input, the Solo as a separate socket (1x XLR, 1 x 1/4"), the One Pre as the middle part of the combo XLR port. You could then look at using an Amp sim within Garageband on whatever DAW you're using if you want a particular sound. The One Pre is an evolution of the Solo in a different form, and so as such, the One Pre benefits from a higher gain range on the instrument input etc. But the Solo does allow for simultaneous recording of a Mic and Instrument (i.e. both inputs) if needed, the One Pre is one Mic/Instrument at a time. As you mention, you can then use a DAW on your iPad such as Garageband, Cubasis or Auria to multitrack record your instruments. Any other questions, just ask Si // Focusrite Media Relations
4. Hoping that a lot of manufacturers move to Pau Ferro actually, I'm a fan of Rosewood, especially when it's a darker specimen, but actually prefer the closer grain of Pau Ferro. How long until some obscure species of Maple causes all species to be added to the CITES list??? PANIC BUY YOUR DREAM BASS NOW!!! haha Si
5. For those that aren't aware, the OC-2 circuit has never ever changed. A very minor component change (not relating to a part of the circuit that creates the tone) and that's it. As mentioned, any changes would simply be because of brand of components or something inconsequential like that. So no, no OC-2s really sound different. The difference is price really are just because there were less of the OctaveR model made, and again, less Japanese ones in general made compared to the Taiwanese. From there, even the Taiwanese versions are sought after simply because they aren't made anymore. Si
6. I mean are you just looking for validation? Lol I have a Mini Flashback and it's great.....simple as that really Si
7. Oh man....just at the wrong time for me! These sound really amazing, so should shift soon! Si
8. Joe's a great guy and makes some amazing basses! Really knows his vintage Fenders, so this will be bang-on I imagine! The Xotic looks great too! Si
9. I suspect it's worth people just listing what they have, and Alex contacting those he's interested in testing Si
10. That's a 55-94 rather than a 55-76, as such, much less rare! You'd be better off keeping your eye on this perhaps: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272625668289 Si
11.
I was actually thinking of buying one, that's why I was asking. There are a few stores here in Greece that sell it for about 90 euros
If they have one in stock, I'd say buy it Si
12.
Nice! I've got one. It's made in Taiwan, has a BOSS Sticker on the back that reads "10.2001" and there's this number: JO 75749. It lives in Bern, Switzerland.
Cheers, added. The serial puts it as June 2001, slightly at odds with the sticker (not seen a dated sticker before), interesting. Si
13. Interesting update from Yamaha, although Matt/satin finish? There's going to be a whole load of knackered looking Yamahas soon lol What didn't you like about the 55-01? Pickups/Pre presumably if you'd consider a 55-02? Would be nothing stopping you dropping humbucker and single-coil soapbars into a 55-01 to give you a 55-02 sound. I guess depends if you can find a nice one used, usually £450-550, leaves monies for your choice of pickup/pre upgrade Si
14. Yeah, whilst it's really interesting to see these old receipts.....I think it was me.....I'd prefer to carry on not remembering them haha. Amazing, though, wonder what those basses are upto now Si
15.
Has anyone tried the Tender Octaver by Mooer? It has the same layout as the nano POG (sub, up, and dry) and from what i've seen on youtube it sounds really cool and has a bit more bass. I dare say that it sounds a bit better with fuzz than the POG.
Yeah I run a Tender Octaver on one of my boards (alongside an OC-2 of course). I just use it for the octave up, and it's essentially the same pedal as the POG. I wonder if they managed to utilise the same algorithm, as EHX took great issue with the Tender, and so it's quite difficult to find it for sale (new at least) anymore. Si
16. My vote goes to a Lakland 55-01 or 55-02, depending what pickups you want. Si
17. That's an insane amount of stock......in a good way 😆 Si
18.
Quick update: Saw a 50s classic advertised on here - black lacquer version. Went to try it today and bought it from a lovely BCer. I can confirm that the neck profile is identical to my 64. The maple feels a touch different, but not much. Frets are the same size. It does sound different, but I expected that. All in all I would say neck feel is 95% the same as the 64, and sound is probably 80% Very happy and now have a suitable muddy field bass
Just out of interest, this model? https://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-classic-series-50s-precision-bass-lacquer-black/113404?gclid=COeczv-igNMCFXEW0wodTtIAFw Si
19. Hello one and all, We (bassist and guitarist) are on the hunt for a drummer to complete our instrumental trio after losing our previous one to emigration. We play original music of a math rock, gypsy jazz leaning. We currently rehearse around north London, work full time, have families but are dedicated to getting some fun gigs, and more importantly, putting out some interesting recorded music. We have an EP for your listening pleasure on our Bandcamp page: http://corybantic.bandcamp.com/releases If the above tickles your fancy, then we would very much like to hear from you. Cheers, Si
20. I can see the above video no issue on Macbook/Safari. Tried a different browser? Si
21. Bump Si
22. Are these slightly bigger than the typical Kala U-basses? Longer necks? Cheers Si
23. Precision Simple, great in a mix, has a distinctive slap tone, and if you're not convinced it can 'do fusion' or 'diddly diddly' stuff, just check out Michael League But as you quite rightly suggest, pretty much any bass will do, it's what is comfortable and sound good in your hands that matters. Si
24. I was going to suggest the Lakland 55-01, until you scuppered me with the 19mm spacing thing haha, love mine! Out of everything that's been mentioned, sounds like the G&L is the way to go, solid instruments with a good reputation (even the Tributes), and a big sound. Other than that, I think you're looking at a custom/mod job from somewhere. Si
25. Sibob

Sold :)

Any photos? Specifically of the back (not bottom) of the pedal. Boxed? Cheers Si
