For those that aren't aware, the OC-2 circuit has never ever changed. A very minor component change (not relating to a part of the circuit that creates the tone) and that's it. As mentioned, any changes would simply be because of brand of components or something inconsequential like that. So no, no OC-2s really sound different. The difference is price really are just because there were less of the OctaveR model made, and again, less Japanese ones in general made compared to the Taiwanese. From there, even the Taiwanese versions are sought after simply because they aren't made anymore. Si

I mean are you just looking for validation? Lol I have a Mini Flashback and it's great.....simple as that really Si

I suspect it's worth people just listing what they have, and Alex contacting those he's interested in testing Si

That's a 55-94 rather than a 55-76, as such, much less rare! You'd be better off keeping your eye on this perhaps: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272625668289 Si
I was actually thinking of buying one, that's why I was asking. There are a few stores here in Greece that sell it for about 90 euros
If they have one in stock, I'd say buy it Si
Nice! I've got one. It's made in Taiwan, has a BOSS Sticker on the back that reads "10.2001" and there's this number: JO 75749. It lives in Bern, Switzerland.
Cheers, added. The serial puts it as June 2001, slightly at odds with the sticker (not seen a dated sticker before), interesting. Si

Interesting update from Yamaha, although Matt/satin finish? There's going to be a whole load of knackered looking Yamahas soon lol What didn't you like about the 55-01? Pickups/Pre presumably if you'd consider a 55-02? Would be nothing stopping you dropping humbucker and single-coil soapbars into a 55-01 to give you a 55-02 sound. I guess depends if you can find a nice one used, usually £450-550, leaves monies for your choice of pickup/pre upgrade Si

Vintage bass collectors, have a good cry with me.

Yeah, whilst it's really interesting to see these old receipts.....I think it was me.....I'd prefer to carry on not remembering them haha. Amazing, though, wonder what those basses are upto now Si -
Has anyone tried the Tender Octaver by Mooer? It has the same layout as the nano POG (sub, up, and dry) and from what i've seen on youtube it sounds really cool and has a bit more bass. I dare say that it sounds a bit better with fuzz than the POG.
Yeah I run a Tender Octaver on one of my boards (alongside an OC-2 of course). I just use it for the octave up, and it's essentially the same pedal as the POG. I wonder if they managed to utilise the same algorithm, as EHX took great issue with the Tender, and so it's quite difficult to find it for sale (new at least) anymore. Si

My vote goes to a Lakland 55-01 or 55-02, depending what pickups you want. Si

That's an insane amount of stock......in a good way 😆 Si
Quick update: Saw a 50s classic advertised on here - black lacquer version. Went to try it today and bought it from a lovely BCer. I can confirm that the neck profile is identical to my 64. The maple feels a touch different, but not much. Frets are the same size. It does sound different, but I expected that. All in all I would say neck feel is 95% the same as the 64, and sound is probably 80% Very happy and now have a suitable muddy field bass
Just out of interest, this model? https://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-classic-series-50s-precision-bass-lacquer-black/113404?gclid=COeczv-igNMCFXEW0wodTtIAFw Si

Hello one and all, We (bassist and guitarist) are on the hunt for a drummer to complete our instrumental trio after losing our previous one to emigration. We play original music of a math rock, gypsy jazz leaning. We currently rehearse around north London, work full time, have families but are dedicated to getting some fun gigs, and more importantly, putting out some interesting recorded music. We have an EP for your listening pleasure on our Bandcamp page: http://corybantic.bandcamp.com/releases If the above tickles your fancy, then we would very much like to hear from you. Cheers, Si

I can see the above video no issue on Macbook/Safari. Tried a different browser? Si

Precision Simple, great in a mix, has a distinctive slap tone, and if you're not convinced it can 'do fusion' or 'diddly diddly' stuff, just check out Michael League But as you quite rightly suggest, pretty much any bass will do, it's what is comfortable and sound good in your hands that matters. 5 string advice. Very specific requirements though....
Sibob replied to funkle's topic in Bass Guitars
I was going to suggest the Lakland 55-01, until you scuppered me with the 19mm spacing thing haha, love mine! Out of everything that's been mentioned, sounds like the G&L is the way to go, solid instruments with a good reputation (even the Tributes), and a big sound. Other than that, I think you're looking at a custom/mod job from somewhere. Si -
Was starting to look like this was on the cards - his site's been down for ages. My go-to ebay seller has jacked it in recently as well. Bugger!
Steve has basically said he's retiring after some ill health unfortunately. He has mentioned that he'll be selling off stock in bulk at sale prices though. I've asked him to let me know when that is, so I'll post the details of that sale when it's happening. Could be some bargains for peoples projects Si

I won't suggest an Interface, as I have a horse in that race (plenty of others will be along for those suggestions). However, if easy drum 'programming' is something you're interested in to start off, then I would look at Logic X as your DAW. The Logic drummer feature is really great for demos/ideas and super easy to use, sounds good too. Check out some videos on Youtube on Logic Drummer etc. Si

I used to get all my stuff from Doctor Tweek: http://doctortweek.c...Path=Categories Although looks like the site isn't open yet (see the message on his site), I'll see if I can see what the deal is. Really nice guy and a great selection. I'd also use Banzai in Germany for the more esoteric parts, only really works for larger orders though. But yeah, lots of little suppliers popping up now, which is great. Si Edit: Unfortunately he's not trading anymore

Yeah my two SB355s (the soapbar 5 strings) both had brass nuts as standard/from new. Si
