1. But.... these people are now paying, in effect, for an ad... Should there be such a firm 36 hrs...??
2. The link doesn't work for me either soundwise.... Copyright issue...?
3. A 610 is typically 36" high and about the same depth as a Berg 212 so will stack about 4" higher than multiples like the DB210x2... It will weigh a tad more than a SWR goliath 410. The TC cabs are smalller IIRC, but not the same class of cab, to my reckoning.
4.
That's a lot of laughing.
yes... I wasn't actually laughing that much... but having ICAP errors here so I was in and out of connection. When I tried to clear/edit the post, I thought I'd lost it completely..the post, that is... so surprised it made it through. I wasn't going to write it again.... so will have to live with it as it is
5. Get a 610... if you are used to the weight...these things have wheels, mostly, so not much more to handle. Will do most stages and assume those stages have bass mixes available. Am still thinking about the NV610... and and would love a DB610...if they did one.
6.
I've been around here for couple of years or so, but I don't post all that often, mainly just reading and using the classifieds (which by the way, are great, and I won't hesitate to pay should I have anything bass-related to sell in future). I can definitely echo some of the sentiments in this post. There's a definite trend in certain areas to reinforce subjective approaches to things to the point where an entire group of people can persuade themselves that they are objectively correct in their opinions. For example, the "thou shalt not scoop mids" crowd. It becomes a little irritating when people point-blank refuse to accept that something that didn't work out for them has absolutely no application anywhere else and that anyone who takes that approach is simply beneath them, when surely whether or not scooped mids will work is simply dependant upon the context. Another frustrating one is the notion that every piece of music you contribute to will be better if you play the absolute bare minimum of notes you can get away with. Yet again, it's simply time and place, but what grates on me is the minority who simply refuse to acknowledge that there are viable applications for approaches which differ from their own, and in this particular case often with the condescending "you'll understand when you've got as much dust in your hair as I have" mantra. It's horses for courses, and there's no right or wrong, but it sometimes seems that certain members here have reinforced their own understanding of things so much that to attempt to open their eyes to alternatives is to piss in the wind. Anyway, moan over. This is a great forum and I think even with the slightly increased negatively recently it's still infinitely more friendly than the vast majority of other internet forums I've been on. Keep up the good work.
Go to the bottom of the class with that rant That sort of individual thinking is frowned upon ..mostly by people who have read stuff elsewhere anyway and assume it as their own forever more. You could be on a few people's secret PM list now....
7. Are these original chassis..?? And a guesstimate to ship to Kent..???
8. Not something you will be thinking about, in time. You want to get to an even regular alternate stroke.. so all you should really concentrate on is that at slow speeds. This is good practice...and when you speed up, your brain will process things at speed but only highlight a certain section as a thought process..and therefore you are aware of it.. That process will be highlighted and printed 'front of screen, as it were, whilst everything else is hammering away in another part of your brain
9.
Apologies if this has been covered before, but what's the general experience with ordering stuff from Thomann in Germany?
Ordered a few things..and never had a problem. They seem totally on the ball, and the delivery has been within a week, easily.
10. I find a lot of top players are cool and just people who really excel in their field...otherwise, why shouldn't they be normal..? If you mention that you really like this or that piece of work, then they seem to be pleased you liked it. If you meet heroes, and tell them...without gushing... what a difference they made...how can they be upset about that? Music is all about inspiring....
11. Would not even consider not wearing them.. I'd struggle to see the notes, let alone have a look at the crowd...

13.
I never forget how wonderful this band is. Endless inspiration for me. I can never understand why Sting gets such a slagging, apart from being a bit of a narcissistic tool.
I don't like 3 piece bands in general...unless they really have something to say, but you can exclude the Police from that, for the most part. I much prefer his later work and agree he does come across a bit... but his body of work is great. I'd still pay to see him...
14. I think it is good that some mods post in threads and don't much mind about opposing opinions of posters, (unless the guy is being a dick about it.. which unfortunately, is life.) You're not going to like everyone in the pub so it is what it is.
15. Single speaker cabs don't qualify as rigs tho................. They can only be amps and cabs...
16.
Can someone clarify for me (name and shame) who these 'oldies' are? I'm old, I've also been on this forum since the start and I'm fairly active on BC, yet I've not come across these belligerent 'oldies' that several posters have alluded to... so who are they?
No idea... I have not been here long enough to be an old git, for sure... I am certainly not a member of any clique/club or this thing they used to call a community
17. No..my strap is short and the bass always hangs in the same position...which is the whole point of the strap, IMO.
18. Depends if you sell a lot or not. I don't sell much at all so have to weigh up the fact of whatever it costs to sell on here...and is it the best place to do so, if and when that times comes? If you sell thousands of £'s of stuff then it will be worth your sub/fee.... no doubt But again, that is if you think this is the place to sell. I know a few sellers that may think it a royal pain as the low ball offers can be ridiculous and some people really don't read the adverts.. Why that might be exclusive to BC, I don't know. My problem with a sub is that it is belated .... now that may be because the site has become expensive to run, or it may be that the proprietors want recompense for all the hard work effort etc ....but then that looses the community feel of it all. The site is tin and admin..the real value is the DB and knowledge. It is always difficult when sites move away from community to commercial...whether by design or accident but you lose something, for sure. IMO. FWIW, I don't think it has been a community much lately anyway... but it is what it is. I think the more visual mods do ok...but then I never have anything much to do with them anyway... At the end of the day, if you don't like it, then go do something else. Most sites have a finite life and use anyway, it isn't life-changing.
19. The trick is not to get someone ask for AC/DC...(because there will be a few in the audience as) 1) they get played by loads of bands round here and so are acceptable as a known tune... 2) you've educated them in your own little way
20. No... a musician without transport is not a lot of use if you are gigging.
21. Can you hear it first.....? That is a lot of cabs..literally...for the money. Depends on what you have to put through it. If you are going to put the kit through it, you'll need subs, IMO but there are subs and subs...as with anything else. If that rig sounds decent then it could be a good buy...but I'd certainly want to hear it working loud..
22. Also depends if there is a charge for using the kit. Two regular paces we use, one has a HH combo with a 15 and a half decent Ashdown combo... I never know what state they are going to be in ... You can look at the EQ stage and you just know that it is maxxed up for the volume of a previous band. You have no idea what pedals they have used to get more level out of the thing as these people can't know what they are doing. These rigs are abused, IMO... so you can never trust them being useable at the best of times..and they are often out of commission The other place charges extra for a low volume combo.. single 12" thing and that is not going to be worth using, let alone paying for. I'd rather throw in my lightweight rig and know there is just not an issue with the bass. We use rehearsals to get the final track together...so it is going to be the finished article pretty much.. so we need to know ..all round.. if it is going to work.
23. Or..... if you sound sh*te, you are sh*te
24.
I'm surprised about the number of people suggesting it's OK to stop mid-song. During rehearsals, yes, but during a gig I used to think it was a no-brainer to carry on and recover as best you can. Seems I was wrong.
If something is drastically wrong then you'll find out within a bar or two..and that is the time to make light of a 'technical problem' and start it again. Context is everything...and you need to balls to carry it off, IMO..some can, some can't
