Afternoon all, Some of you may well remember my post from 2018 (I can't believe it's four years ago...) found here: Well, I finally created a follow-up and I'm rather pleased with it. If you're a precision bass type of guy (or girl) then this should be right up your rue. Let me know what you all think - constructive criticism welcomed of course.... This will probably end up as a run of prints as before, if there's enough interest that is. Cheers!

I’ve always liked RHCP, loved BSSM (the first bass line I learned to play was “Give It Away”) was a bit obsessed with them for most of the 90s, but nothing they’ve done since One Hot Minute has made me excited - I was very excited when Californication came out because JF was back, but half that album is not great. By The Way is far superior IMO but again the music lacks energy from that album forward. The Getaway was fine, Josh really shone on that. For me, the real problem lies with their insistence in using Rick Rubin as producer. He really caught the band’s vibe perfectly on BSSM, but really added little else other than getting them to let the music breathe a little. I would love to see them recorded by a proper rock producer, someone who will make them sound massive. I’m not talking about overblown “rawk” production, just someone who is willing to add a bit more bottom end to the ideas of one of the planet’s best bassists… If they decided to reconnect with Michael Beinhorn (who produced The Uplift Mofo Party Plan and Mother’s Milk), then I’d be excited.

I love them. Samuel Herring means every word he says, you can see that in their live performances. The album “Singles” is a modern masterpiece but they’ve yet to better it. “The Far Field” comes close, and the new one “As Long As You Are” is very laid back. My fear for them is that they’re in danger of getting stuck with one sound. I’d like to see them stretch out a bit with something a little different. For a similar vibe but less synth-y, try The War On Drugs. 😊

I agree. The headstock is slightly "metal", but it's the body shape that I really like. I quite like the inlays and I'm a total sucker for anything with binding. IMO Schecter should make it with their 4 in a row headstock that adorns their P and J models.
