1.
Good one, made me laugh. When did it come out? was it for a charity thing?
I'm pretty sure it was around 1990. Not a charity thing, one of the sketches from a series of French And Saunders. Classic.
2. My new covers band is under way. Trio. No drummer. Bass, guitar and keyboards, with programmed drum parts and some programmed bass parts. Going to be playing a bit of keyboards during the songs with the sequenced bass. New Order, Depeche Mode, OMD, Visage, Ultravox etc. Have a new found respect for Peter Hook's playing - never really listened to him before, fun to play his parts. Quite excited, should be good.
3. BTW, I bought a new adapter to power this, with a 5 plug daisy chain. I knew that the socket on the pedal wouldn't fit so I also bought a plug tip converter, thinking it would be OK.
4. Thanks guys, might just stash it away and buy a new one...
5.
6.
2 possibilities spring to mind: - wrong polarity on the mains adaptor - if it's an early model with a 1/8in jack, that will be centre positive
1996 model I think.
7.
I didn't realise 'Lost in space' means 'Isle of Wight'!
I might as well be...
8. Not in the near future, on the Isle of Wight, so it costs me £50 return for me and the car...
9. Soooo.....anyone want to buy an original DOD chorus pedal, with the original box....?
10. Edited original post - I want to daisy chain other 9v pedals to it.
11. I have an original DOD FX62 bass stereo chorus pedal which won't power up with a 9v adapter. The blurb says to us a 10v adapter but it obviously powers up with a 9v battery. I want to daisy chain other 9v pedals to it as well. Am I missing something or just being monumentally thick...?
12. If Bowie rated Lorde that much then she was probably the only logical choice. Other than just having Bowie's mic stand at the front of the stage and the band playing behind, without the vocals. Because really, who's going to be able to follow him? No-one.
13.
No problem, I'm glad to be of help . Have you got Transcribe software ? Get it if you haven't. It's free, and is amazing. You can isolate sections, phrases etc, and slow them down. It's really useful for parts like this. http://www.seventhstring.com
Cheers mate, will give it a look.
14. Thank you Ambient, it was me who was on the verge of a bass/window interface trying to learn this for a new project, this might well help.
15. If Kanye didn't exist, the world would be a lot less entertaining. In a "can't wait to see what utter horse $hite he comes out with next, cos he's obviously deluded on a biblical scale" kind of way. More power to ya Mr West, looking forward to the next instalment. 😁
16. 8/10 by guessing most of em. Which, by default makes me metal as f**k.
17.
How about £210? I know "we're only half way there..." But, "Whooh hooh we're living on a prayer." Sorry. These are lovely guitars BTW. Good luck with sale.
I read that first bit and thought "cheeky git"... Comedy genius.... 😁😁😁
18. 1996 Sambora Strat (Mexico) in Lake Placid Blue, comes with (slightly) worn tweed hardcase, complete with hex keys for trussrod and Floyd Rose locking nut adjustment. Specs direct from Fender as follows: Alder body, maple neck modern “C” Shape, (Satin Polyurethane Finish), rosewood fingerboard 9.5” Radius (241 mm), 21 Medium Jumbo Frets, scale length: 25.5” (648 mm), 1.650” (42 mm), locking nut, chrome hardware, Fender/Ping standard cast/sealed tuning machines, Floyd Rose® II Double Locking 2-Point Tremolo, 3-Ply white pickguard, 2 special design single-coil strat pickups and Dimarzio custom PAF pro humbucking pickup at the bridge. Had this since May 2015, not really getting any use, hasn't been gigged by me, just been sat in the spare room gathering dust. A great sounding guitar, the double humbucker at the bridge really kicks. I will chuck in a strap for nowt too. I would prefer collection as I've had bad experiences in the past with couriers. I am on the Isle of Wight but I can meet at one of the ferry terminals (Portsmouth/Southsea/Southampton/Lymington) no problem. Thanks for looking.
19. I used to play in a rock covers band whose guitarist/singer had never heard "Alive" by Pearl Jam. He's in his late 30's.
20. Having given my last band notice back in August that I was leaving and was willing to honour dates until the end of the year, the others put an ad looking for a replacement. Auditions took place in September with four different bassists. When I saw the guys again the weekend after, I asked how the auditions went. Number 1 was the classic "all the gear, no idea", had turned up with a £3000+ bass, but didn't know how to work the rehearsal studios in-house bass amp head. Told the guys he was a session player with loads of recent gigging experience. When asked how many gigs he'd done this year he reply was "two". He then proceeded to "solo" over every song he'd been asked to learn. Number 2 turned up on foot as he didn't have any transport of his own. When the guys asked him if he wanted to go through one of the songs on the audition list, he replied "oh yeah, should be ok with that one, I learned it on the bus on the way here."
21. I think there are players influencing the next generation, but really only within metal and jazz. The players that influenced (and continue to influence) me are people like Mark King, John Taylor, Mick Karn, Pino, Nick Beggs, Flea, who pretty much all worked within a "pop/top 40" format (ok, maybe not so much with Flea). Maybe that's the point the OP is trying to make - that kids will have to dig deeper for influential players rather than just turning the radio on and listening to Radio 1. 😊
22. I thought Hootenanny was good this year, but then its the first time in two years I've watched it... Definitely less alcohol on set this year as Vic Reeves wasn't nearly as pissed as he usually is. And Ade Edmondson stayed away...
23. New Order with no Hooky is just not cricket. Saying that, if the new bass playing lad had had his instrument strapped round his knees, y'all would've been ragging on him instead of Barney enjoying himself. Pioneers nonetheless. 😉
