1. A mate of mine mentioned The Seahorses the other day, so walking home today I put it on for the first time in absolute years. Most of the songs on there, frankly, are better than the new Roses tune.
2.
I know what you mean - I'm fine with the riff and the vocals and simple lyrics, but it sounds like the rhythm section from a different band - not very Stone Roses at all
The biggest attraction of the Stone Roses for me was their sense of groove, which is totally missing from the new song.
3. If that's Reni playing drums on the new song I'll eat my chorus pedal.
4. I'm another that has never really been into the albums, but certain songs have blown me away. For me, the ultimate Prince track is "Sign 'o the Times". It's Prince in a nutshell - sparse, funky, great use of space and socially aware. The only Prince song you'll ever need.
5.
Well drop C is such a drop in tuning that I would have to put heavier gauge strings on my stingray, whereas with a fiver I could tune it to CGCFA or something along those lines. Seems to be the same here then, people are recommending Spector basses and the Legend series, but nobody's played one of these neck thru's
You wouldn't need to re-tune a 5 string to get the low C as the bottom string is a low B.
6. The guitarist having no idea that the volume knob on his amp could actually be turned anticlockwise. Half-arsedness ("oh, that'll be ok, we can just busk it") which translates as "I can't be bothered to learn this song properly. The guitarist's predilection for Bon Jovi. Booking gigs without making sure everyone else is available for it.
7.
Unless you live in a mansion, I think you might get away with it for maybe 3 years, but it would get harder
That's a risk I'm willing to take. 😁
8. I like it, it seems to have something that lacked from the last album. The piano is an interesting addition (for them anyway) and lifts the tune. I for one am glad they're not pretending to be in their mid twenties and rehashing BSSM. Nothing worse than old blokes (and let's not forget three of them are knocking on the door of 60) trying to be young and controversial. The one reason I can't even bear to look at Mick Jagger is that he really should stop pretending he's still 21. Looking forward to a RHCP album not "produced" by Rick Rubin too.
9. I have one bass and intend to buy another bass every year for the rest of my life, without selling any. Just don't tell the missus... 😉
10. Get that knife ready again... http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ac-dc-confirm-axl-rose-is-new-lead-singer-joining-band-on-tour-20160416
11. I used to use my local online free ad site a lot for selling stuff that was no longer wanted, stuff like my son's clothes that no longer fit him etc, and also sold a few basses on as well. Recently had an ad up for my fender strat, but every reply was from a scammer telling me they were buying it for their child/cousin/cat. I would then amend the ad with the scammers email address and a note to other scammers that they're wasting their time with me. Seems to work.

Fender PJs

Here's my modified P, with added J. Precision neck, J pup 5mm closer to the bridge than on a normal jazz. Stack knob too. 😊
13. I left the rock covers band I was in at Christmas last year - got completely bored of playing the same songs every night to people that were probably as bored of hearing them as I was playing them. Then, four days later, an old friend messaged me and asked if I would be interested in starting a synth based covers band with him - think New Order, OMD, Depeche etc. I live that stuff as much as I love 90's rock, so I said yes. First rehearsal the other night went really well, so very excited about this little project. Meanwhile, the guitarist I recruited for the synth band also has a little sideline jazz band, and they need a bassist, so tonight he asked me if I would be interested in doing that as well. Having never played jazz, and being a man of diverse taste and up for a challenge, I said yes. And I also make my own instrumental electronica on my pc at home. What I'm saying is there's nothing wrong with wanting to do lots of different stuff as long as you can fit it all in. Mix it up, variety is the spice of life and all that. Do what makes you happy.😊

15.
Umm, as a Fodera salesman, I should probably keep well clear of this thread
Ooh, so how do you become a Fodera salesman? Can anyone do it? Any jobs going? Go on - gissajob.
16. Looking at MU's sign up form now. Should have done it years ago, but hey...
17. Not an MU member. I did think that a music lawyer wasn't going to be cheap. As I said - no experience.
18. Mods; this might need to go in Off Topic - feel free to move it if you agree. I have composed a couple of electronica EP's over the past year or so and have been offered a contract to release and promote these EP's by an independent label. They've sent me a contract and part of it reads: The Artiste acknowledges that the Artiste has been advised by the Company to seek independent legal advice from a lawyer with experience in the music industry with regard to the terms of this Agreement. So, with "The Artiste" being me, can anyone recommend a lawyer that fits the above description? I have no experience whatsoever with contracts of this type, and to ignore this advice doesn't sit well with me. Cheers
19. They don't actually work unless you slap them.... 😉
20.
I can see that working in Slipknot. Not my thing, but I've seen far, far worse designs.
Oh yes, me too. Despite the look of it, that bass is going to sound amazing.

22.
Yeah not for me either...
Love Status basses, but that is the first one I've seen that does nothing for me at all.
