We do an occasional Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute around Swindon. Never bothered with the look, all the focus went on the sound. Nobody has ever complained about us not copying the look.

I seem to be doing much better with badges on Basschat than I ever did during my stint in the local Cub Scouts circa 1982!

I assume that is Lee? When we did the Ex-Boyfriends reunion show, she meant that a band reforming 15yrs later couldn't hang out because she kept him away. The sad thing is prior to this his Facebook page said "Happy - hit drums, sad - hit drums, any problem - hit drums" which rather suggests it was quite important to him! An irony not lost that they met at a gig... that he was playing!?

I think the phrase Gig widow covers it. Probably a case of being a bit thoughtless and selfish too. Interestingly (or annoyingly) my mother in law transfers a lot of her anger about it onto me as I am out playing (or was pre-Covid) despite the fact that it works much better in my relationship with her daughter. Go figure.

For those of us who are married or in long term relationships, how important is it to have a partner who supports your music? Bonus question, what do they make of the amount of time you spend on Basschat? My wife comes to local shows if childcare allows and sometimes will join me on tour for a night. I can play her performance videos and she gives me an honest appraisal of how I am playing. She's musical and I value her opinion. By comparison my mother in law hated the fact that her husband played bass in a band and music was something of a taboo subject in their home. My ex-wife was also pretty supportive and I don't think I have had an unsupportive partner in my musical endeavours since my teens. Record Store Day on Saturday and the guy next to me flicking through the racks was telling a very bored looking other half about the joys of 180g vinyl. It made me smile as I have been that person and try harder to consider my audience a little more these days. Whilst my wife likes watching performances, she draws the line (understandably) at talk about valves or tone caps! I guess that is what Basschat is for.

Just before he died, guitarist Paul Fox used to play drums with my old band. Just get up and guest but he was a cool character. One night him and a few mates got up, turned the amps up full and blasted out Babylon's Burning. It was an amazing experience. His settings were basically on full for everything!

I'd probably spend more on a first amp with hindsight. And know not to get too attached to the bass as a load more would be coming along all too soon! 😂

I waited until I was number 6352 and you guys never did work out if that bass was any good for metal!

Mine was a 57RI P-bass. The neck wound up on another bass and I went on to sell the bass with that neck and the original bass that was by then sporting more of a 62RI vibe. I kept the pickup, pickguard and controls. They've sat in a spares box all this time and I just pinched a pot off of it to put back in my 2016 57RI bass that I bought because I missed the original.

My old mate Darryl says the same thing every year. I say never say never but....

It's hard not to respect their longevity or success but at school I was the only long haired kid who didn't like Maiden. I kept getting told I'd have a Maiden phase but at 48, I'm still waiting for it. They seem like good blokes and I have the upmost respect for their career but it just goes to show that no band can appeal to everyone. In fairness, they seem to be managing remarkably well without my devotion!

I quite like things as stock to be fair but did buy a USA Jazz with a Baddass bridge which I liked so have replaced the bridge on my P-bass too.

I own one. It is the best sounding but heaviest cab that I have ever owned. Mine was manufactured in October 2018.

I had one of these for a few years if you don't fancy doing the mods yourself.

The contentious post has been dealt with. I appreciate everyone is enjoys the banter but I think we've had enough life from this old thread!

It was only the first batch that were iffy... and to be fair they were shocking. Ampeg rectified the fault inside of about 6 months but they really shouldn't have gone out like that in the first place. I started using them around 2014 and they were all fine from there on in. I owned two and used a fair few in studios with no problems ever.

I owned a couple of PF500s and they were my main amp for years. I am now back to Orange but still have the PF50t (which although not mentioned should make the club!) gathering dust in a gig bag. All brilliant heads.

I like the theory but I guess it would have to be on as light a bass as possible as even with thin metalwork, that's going to get heavier.

I heard there was no chorus but it was double tracked which is why everyone hears chorus.
