Yes it was & it's an absolute steal at that price. My mate had one in his shop & I was sorely tempted but have enough basses. His was set up really well so you just couldn't fault it.

I think a lot of stuff from China & Indonesia is really good these days. Some players will turn their noses up because it's not USA made leaving great bargains for the rest of us. I played a great Aria Mosrite copy recently and I am also thinking of the cheap Hofner stuff that comes from China

I'm not a betting man but I bet at least two of these wind up in the for sale section by Xmas! Personally I don't think anything is ever set in stone. I'd like to keep a lot of my stuff but if circumstances change and the price is right I think anything is fair game, just so long as I'm left with at least one bass. If I was pushed to say one I'd say my original MIJ Fender Precision because it's been with me all the way & is worth more to me kept than it is to sell. My all original 1978 P-bass *could* go at a point in the future. I hope not.

I think it's often the case when you are used to a certain type of bass and just need more chance to find the time to bond. Having always played Fenders I had a major Epiphone phase around 2004 and managed to adapt quite easily. Often it comes down to just a good set up etc.

Rest assured the bridge cover on my tele style bass I own is the correct way around too but the original post was just to show a 1973 cool bass. Sadly I couldn't find one with a bridge cover the right way around & yet 3 examples with upside down covers. Must have still been coming down from the Psychedelic days! Rest assured folks if I was the said owner I would simply unscrew the cover & flip it around to look like the one in Happy Jack's post Move along people, there's nothing to see here...

We do a lot of pub gigs as an originals band and get paid. It's like chris_b said, if you come across as fun but professional I don't think it matters. Obviously we're not the band to see if you want to hear all the greats but if people like a well rehearsed pro band who put on a good show, we can absolutely deliver on that. Have fun & good luck

I'd rather the listings were left, especially as the mods quite rightly aren't deleting stuff. Just an edit to say "Withdrawn" or "Sold" rather than a re-writing of history. It never happened! I've always thought people do it mainly because they've seen others do it rather than any exciting other reason. Most of my sales go for slightly less than asking price but then there is no harm in listing with a similar asking price that that seller probably won't get either. We're normally talking £20 less not hundreds of pounds. I find it reall useful if I was selling a certain piece of kit just to gauge what the going rate might be. It's a ball park figure and nothing more.

I've done a couple and had a lot of fun with them. Stripping the paint was a real bonding moment and I did all but 2 gigs last year on a bass I put together - it really is a strong bond! I think you are right to get the neck right. It's important. I went all Fender parts and sourced a lot through Basschat.

I don't think I've ever seen a positive post about Music Ground here on Basschat

My Watford Valves order arrived today. They are great but they don't tell you the postage rates and you have to add VAT. It's not horrendous but my £40 order was £52. They are the best company I know of so would use them again.

I like Tribute bands. The only one I've seen who I have issues with is the Bootleg Beatles and everyone else says they are great so I assume I can use the classic break up line "It's not you, it's me!" I can't even put my finger on what I don't like with them. It might be that they do the costume changes rather than stick with one era. But it's just a personal view. The Counterfit Stones were great when I saw them. I do hate the way such issues become covers bands vs tribute bands vs originals bands. Yes, some originals bands aren't so original (& I would say like BigRedX this is always my personal preference), some covers bands aren't so hot and some tribute bands don't help the cause. Ultimately there are good and bad examples of each and on that note it is time to move on. I can see myself being in a Tribute band at some stage in the future purely as it is one musical experience I'm yet to have.

My 1976 Jazz bass is a fretted Ebony board. It started out fretless and a previous owner did the honours. The dot markers are of course over the frets and not between frets which took an adjustment but it feels just great and sounds awesome I wish ebony was used more although I do like maple and rosewood too
