1. Just ordered a Hartke vx3500. Let's see how that goes....Another week to wait....jeez!
 2. Well, my MB4210 has given up the ghost. Only used it a coupla times in the studio. Turned it on tonight and nothing at all. Mains lead is ok and supplying juice so it's back to the shop tomorrow morning. Just my bloody luck.......
 3. Supply and demand. Tastes change. Nothing is really new and everything does the rounds, sometimes more than once.
 4. I have noticed that the cooling fan is a bit noisy; especially for a small axial. Is this common? I'm not talking about screeching noisy, but an annoying whirring when the amp is just sitting. I've seen much bigger fans of this type that are virtually silent....Ie: in bottle fridges etc
 5. Isn't the most important thing, how you feel when you play? You can't please everyone, so you might as well please yourself.......to a point that is.
 6.
My point was how good are the guys in the first place if their career was pretty much the one gig with a band that sold quite a few albums over a few years and then went quiet. And then they pop up on the Euro scene doing a revival gig..long before reforming got fashionable in between running another business. If theY haven't kept playing, then aren't going to be that on top of things...and if they didn't start from much of a grounding in the firsdt place, like their first gig was lucky enough to break.. how good would they be now? I am not talking about Gadd or the like..they have never stopped playing and you are talking creme anyway, but someone whose main gig has gone quiet or disintergrated, they have gone off to do other non-musical work and now gets the chance to play again for nostaligia and the venue will pay £5-10,000 or so to bring them all together..? I can't really name the people I am thinking about so maybe this thread is done...but what I talking about is that an ex-name turns up at your pub...plays a few numbers on a borrowed kit...and then you wonder what all the fuss was all about. 5 guys, I am talking about..in the last few years. and you wouldn't book any of them to do your gig. Are we more impressed with the 'name' than the player..??
In a lot of cases, name is spot on because you have your loyal fans who will listen to their hero deteriorate over the years and still give rave reviews out of that sense of loyalty. There have been lots of very famous names over the years who have brilliant studio albums, but very poor live performance, but the disciples seem to be f*****ng deaf!
 7.
I have no recollection of bass not being cool, or of bass being less cool.
Let's try it from this angle then. Obviously, if you're a bass player, the chances of you thinking it's cool and or is getting cooler are gonna be pretty high. My point is, take yourself out of the equation because it's a forgone conclusion what you think. What about the people who just listen to music? Have you been getting feedback from people about bass. I know my son (32) has always been into lots of bass EQ (he's not a musician). So what's the feedback you're getting as a player from the listeners? Sorry, I did that as a quote, but it's a global question.

 10. Which one has the minimum of ads?
 11.
I'm currently using the MB4410 with the MBC115 extension cab. Prior to the MB4410 I was using the MB4210 and it definitely needs the extension cab. If you don't get the cab at least stand it on something as it's impossible to see the controls without getting on your hands and knees. I had a major reliability problem with the MB4210 but to be fair, Marshall then upgraded me (FOC) to the MB4410. I'm with Lozz on using the Classic channel but you can also get some nice tones blending the 2 channels.
Yeh, did notice that about the controls being a bit out of sight. I'll make a dummy cab for now out of washing up bottles and sticky backed plastic....I didn't get my Blue Peter Badge for nothing you know..... Thanks for the replies, guys...
 12.
I'm with burray in that coolness is subjective. Is cool up high, slapping away or is it down by the knees digging in on those 16ths? The answer is probably yes & no to all those things. A 20yr old me would be embarrassed (a bit!) by the 38yr old me as a bass player but the reality is I'm more comfortable in myself now and I don't really care what others think of whether it's cool anymore. A point that probably makes me cooler in its own way
I think as you get older, your ego needs a little less massaging and at the end of the day, what others think of you is none of your business. Thanks, ladies; I'm getting to know some of you a little better now....
 13.
I went for bass because it's uncool, so is therefore cool...
You're the man, Mr unCool Cool. I bet we could get into some really deep conversations that go nowhere.......
 14.
When I used mine on its own, I used to just put it on the floor, until I started using an aluminium case for my leads etc. I then just used to put the amp on top of that. Re the reliability thing, a friend of a friend is an engineer at Marshall, and he said that when the first batch of these came through, they literally had to redo them all, as the quality control wasn`t good on them. However, saying that, I bought my 4210 in 2007, and it was fine, so the poor items must have been previous to this. I sold mine to a mate, he`s still got it, and never had any problems either, and uses it every week.
Picked mine up this morning and just had a little run through with it. Not as chest thumping as I'd expected so adding a cab seems to be the answer, as has already been mentioned. can't grumble though at £339
 15.
When you're as cool as I am, you need a cool instrument to play & you don't get much cooler than a great bassline that makes people want to dance. So I took up the Tenor Horn.
Yeh, I've heard stories about your coolness.....Woh there big guy!
