1. Set off for gig Friday night, arrived 8pm no snow. By 11.30pm over 8 inches and still coming down. 14 miles home, 11 of them motorway and it took me slightly less than 2 %^$&(^% HOURS Apologies to the lorry drivers amongst us, but does the word jackknife not mean anything to you? Hewaring past on the motorway then spinning 40 feet of wagon is not big or clever, it's almost a self fulfilling prophecy.! Karl.

PM's replied. Sorry folks not currently looking at trades (but perhaps near offers?). Cheers, Karl.
3. Snowed in. 2 hours to get back from gig last night, er, 15 miles. Photo from warmer days! Crap, but best I've had taken.
4. This thread should be locked for Hippie-ism. Karl.
5. Yup, he's certainly been to the school of Imadimgit. Wonder if he was in my year? Karl.

No interest here folks? Gotta go. Reason? I have just become the proud owner of a 2005, USA Precision Standard, Black, Black 'plate, maple board (with one of them push button things on the volume control). So, the white 70's re-issue has got to go. Cheers, Karl.
7.
I'm thinking of jacking it in. I'm not sure I enjoy playing, I like the idea of playing and being in a band but not particularly fussed about the reality. Although I think the main reason is my playing is so poor I struggle with simple straightforward stuff regardless of how much I practice, I just don't enjoy it as a result.
I am sure your playing is much better than you think. When I was 16 and had been playing for a few months, I was really crap. Tuneless with no rythm. Girlfriend dumped me, didn't go out on a night for a couple of months. Sat at home on a night annoying my parents. Put records on and just played along badly, but my speed and ear improved. Not actually learning the songs, just playing wherever my fingers went. Could do the same nowadays with CD.s. Find a group of people who are at your percieved level, advertise for them. Trust me, with no disregard for either genre, anybody with a little perserverance can make a reasonable fist of Country or Blues bass (IMO). If you don't enjoy it fine, but if it's just born out of percieved frustration, go for it. Best of luck either way, Karl. PS, treat yourself to a weekend next summer on the River Severn, it's 2 hours from me, possibly a touch more for you, but it's worth it! Once again edited for spelling
8.
Oh yeah? They've had some lovely carp out of Redmire very recently.
And I had 2 barbel off the "Officer Dibble" (River Ribble) 10 days ago Karl.

Cheers Cocco, just a bit worried if anybody takes exception to me using Si's original sale thread. I don't have a digital camera but even if I did I wouldn't manage photo's that good. Cheers, Karl.
10. Dont sell up and do go fishing, I manage to be in a gigging band and go fishing (although I'm getting fed up of ice breaking!). When I was about 20, we went to Coventry visiting the then soon to be sister-in-law. 3 piece on in a pub called the Cottage. All three in their 80's doing nice laid back jazz standards. I want to do that please. Karl.

I am about to get a USA P. As a result I need to sell this quickly. £420 collected, £450 delivered to you within 70 miles of Wigan. Very reluctant to post as no case etc. I am a little doubtful about using the link below as it was the late and much missed Si's (OldGit), however I am pushed for time and I would never achieve such a good post as he did. If this upsets ANYBODY, please tell me and I will remove it. It's the white one, Si did some great photography on its bashed bits. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...9&hl=oldgit Since those photo's it's had a thumb rest above the strings, covering the screw hole. It's had a Switchcraft jack socket, pick up cover (ashtray). Finally it's been serviced and set up by Richard Thomson of Thomson Guitars, Wigan. It was set up with Status Flatwound 45/105. Think thats it. Very reluctant sale but I have got the chance of a USA P at a very good price from a mate, so I will get it if this goes quickly. Cheers, Karl. Feedback below, or as karl5066 on FEEBay. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=karlfer
13.
J Arthur Palmer could be a very very subtle multi-layered pun. You need to start with J Arthur Rank and then work hard on the PALMer bit. or it could just be the guy's name.
Palm er, gotcha! Stop this smut now Karl.
14.
As this is the only signature bass I have ever owned, then by default it has to the Rickenbacker 4001 C64S. I know that virtually all the members of BC don't like Rickenbackers, and even the ones who do will probably turn their noses up at the reversed headstock, but frankly my dears I don't give a damn... 15.
Anybody on here ?? Karl.
16.
For me, these are the best: Status Kingbass Alembic Mark King And both of the Urge bass models I've never been one for people going to luthiers, having a high end bass made and then calling it their signature model. It has a touch of the "who are you" about it.
There's a thought, matching shirt and scratchplate Karl.
17.
Here are mine... Fender Classic 50's Precision don't live here anymore though.....
2 Attitudes. I may have to hunt you down Karl.
18. I'm still smirking about the J.Arthur Rank. Thought I was the only one old enough to remember that one. Karl. PS, Mart. Thanks very much for the full version of God gave Rock and Roll to you. Argent In Deep, fantastic album, sadly long gone the with 300 plus other big bits of vinyl. How could I have been so stupid?
19. Sheehan for me. I will get one, I will get one........................... Karl.
20. Insane then. Thanks for the vote of confidence chaps Karl. I am the bastard offspring of Gok and Betty (yeah, allright they would have had to travel back in time, don't get picky!)
21. Well, am I? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT Karl.
22.
Christmas is always a great time to buy bass stuff of t'bay. I got a cool precision bass body for £6.50 yesterday. £6.50! body
Now that's a result, nice one Karl.
23. Thanks for all that lads. Went to my ma's yesterday am, just got back. Missed all this, the student stuff, the swearing stuff. Can't miss a day here can you The Aria member Ash has up is very tempting, but even at £300 cash picked up, I would have to spend somewhere £20/£50 to get the electrics sorted. Cos I'm thick and even the drummer won't let me near anything technical! As has been pointed out, it's a bolt on and it seems a lot of things are proving hard to sell, so I might give it some time. Ebay in last couple days, virtually perfect 2008 (latest model) USA P, case and candy, £500 start, no bids at end. 6 string Petrucci Yamaha sig bass, immaculate, sold for £500. Cheers, Karl.
24.
Have we seen this one before? At this price? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-Lawsuit-4000-Ba...=item20b5c894ff I'm impressed to see that it's a "law-suit" model, so presumably they've also managed to infringe Gibson's copyright ...
I would have a go for this as it's only 30 ish miles from me, and I have the gig money saved, however; 1. It's more than I am prepared to pay for a bolt on (£350 max). 2. It needs electrical work doing. I am stupid and would need to get that done professionally. Nice looking bass though. Karl.
25. I have a Non Export 70's re-issue P, which I assume to be basswood. Superb thump(especially with flats) and very light. Semi hollow body things (Ibby, Aria, Godin, Epiphone etc, extremely light). Sure some of the guys close would let you try their light basses (have I spelt "their" right?, I'm getting paranoid now). Good luck, Karl.
