1. Perhaps a bit more forethought would have gone down well. Somewhere in the region of 20, 000 members, or potentially 20,000 customers. Not really the place to hack off even a small percentage of potential customers. Especially for an exclusive niche market product. I really do hope some good comes of this. Mr Hall, I honestly think if you backed off the pre-lawsuit stuff, you would find a lot more people with a lot more respect and empathy for the stance of your undeniably respected business. Karl.
2.
1 Rick down, 3 to go. Will never have one in this house again.
Should have hocked one for my Bergs . Right, I really must calm down and get some work done
3.
Fender tried something awhile ago, putting pressure on retailers (blocking stock if ifringing) but there were too many bolted horses. Jon is just trying to maximise the value of the brand as a family asset. Not like he's a banker or politician or soemthing, but it isn't quite in the spirit of rock 'n roll....
People would have a lot more empathy if he backed off pulling every 30+ year old copy.
4. Nice one Musky, safe font of knowledge as usual. Wouldn't it be comical if the actual trade marks registered in 1993 only covered that shape headstock, TRC,with the word Rickenbacker on it .
5. I have a great deal of respect for RIC and John Hall for what they do in regard to this, however it really does stagger me that they try to stop the private sales of 30+ year old basses that were made before they had their copyrights. Fair enough with instruments that were made after the legal issues, even though there is some doubt as to wether or not they apply in whichever country. In terms of there market, few who can afford a Rickenbacker would buy a copy so does it really massively affect there sales? It does in one way. I have had 4 real Ricks. I will never buy another after an advert of mine was pulled on FEEBay a couple of years back. As I said, fair play to Mr Hall, but I think he would be better drawing a line in the sand at pre-lawsuit. He would certainly get some kudos, IMHO. Strange how FEEBay seem to pull less business sellers ads for modern Rick copies, again, IMHO.
6. Bump for this gorgeous Jazz, whilst asking mckendrick, "Do you know where I can find the schematic, with parts numbers for a 1998 Fender Donald Duck Dunn Limited Edition, crafted in Japan?" cos I'm buggered if I can find it, Bump
7. These are usually 40mm nut width perfect for those of us who want a P but not with such a wide nut. They play like the Devil, that colour is as rare as my wallet opening and would look sublime with a Brown Tortie plate. I am actually salivating. 1 week ago this would have been mine .
8. Steady Tom, back to the Glenmorangie with you. Oh, and sold subject to usual.
9. NNNOOOOOOHHHHHH! I've just bought a Fender Donald Duck Dunn and then this comes up. Bugger, bugger and thrice bugger. Good luck with the sale, like you'll need it. Karl.
10. Impressive, Dr, Dave or Watson?
11. More PM'S replied to, thanks for the interest folks. Answers. The unusual finish is original that's how these limited editions came out of the factory. They do come up for sale occasionally, there was one the year before last in Leeds. PAINPal will only be taken if it sells on FEEBay, however it is at a starting price of £450. Current price on here is £400, I may take close offers in a few weeks, but not at the moment thanks . Please remember it's the Mrs trying to badger me down to 4 basses, not me , cheers, Karl.
12.
Not my thing at all, but looks like a lot of quality for the current price. Let's see what it ends up at. Sheffield isn't in Derbyshire
Yeah, I thought that but I thought a local would know better than me?
13.
Pm'd
And if you need the money for it John. I've got some for you!!!!!!
14. PM's replied, thanks for the interest but as stated, EBS NEO only please and certainly no more basses
15.
"Why havent you got a Precision?" And "The bass is a bit loud"
16.
Bloody drummers. You cant even trust their Dads either now. Tsk tsk!
Coffee meet screen again . Shame but most drummers are "dead beats". Coat.
17. "More growl than a pissed off Rottweiler". Oh, sh*t, that was me "I'm not doing that" One of our guitards for any song that doesn't involve him being a guitard hero "Nailed that"........... I'd like to f***ing nail you pal!!
18.
What's happened to the price of the genuine article? They seem to be going down whilst fakers seem to be selling at pretty robust prices? Mr Hall's efforts perhaps backfiring on him?
I've been thinking that as well Chris. There is a bit of distrust coming into it as well I think, been more than one "genuine" of late that has been questionable. I keep looking at a black with black scratchplate from Urmston(Manchester) it's been up 3 times I've seen, with BIN of £1100 and it ain't going. Pretty sure it's completely cosher as well. Bloody spelling again!
19.
Isn't it just another Explorer copy?
Yeah, shame about that hideous headstock , so much better if it had been P style like the wonderful Explorers John had.
20. As stated Mathew, I will ship overseas, however the bank transfer or cheque must clear my account first. Any buyer from overseas must arrange a courier to come to me. The buyer must pay for that and their own transit insurance. If you are serious please PM me, cheers, Karl.
