1.
F**k you for wasting my time. Truckstop
I asked for it, didn't I?
  2. So here I am, yet another forum member asking for cab recommendations... My problem is quite simple: I have two different rigs, one for practice room use, and one for live usage (see signature for details), and I am looking for a cab that would help me thicken up my live sound. Our band is a 4 piece, the guitarist's sound is quite thin, so the bass does a lot to thicken up the sound in the practice room. We mainly play small venues, like function rooms and smallish pubs, so I can't (and don't want to) use my large and heavy rig. The tecamp mini rig does the job beautifully volume and tonewise, but our live sound needs more "something", be it bottom end, lower-mid frequencies, more unfocused mids, not sure. Something that fills the room a bit better. I feel that my 2x10 can't provide this at gigging volume, so I'm asking for recommendations for a change of cab(s). Fire away, ask for more info, or just insult me for wasting your time... Cheers

    HOT
I'd need to try one out, I've never even seen one in the flesh - must be hard to find. I have heard of a lot of praise for them though!
Plenty available, there's a couple on ebay right now, and they come up regularly here on basschat. I must recommend you try one at least once, they are very heavy but very playable too.
  4. Frankenstein? On the ground floor, or downstairs in the beer cellar sort of area? Never knew they did live music, I always thought it was mainly stag and hen dos. I'll see if I manage to get accross!

    HOT

Peavey T-40? Hot and gainy as you want
  6. Mine, a 1980 vintage with toaster pickups strung with rotosound steel swing, gets played almost exclusively with both pickups in full humbucking mode, both fingers and pick, and the sound gets changed mainly by flicking the switches. I have a very heavy touch, and it sounds very aggressive and a little dirty, a bit like an old fashioned V6 engine, especially when played through the peavey head and the marshall and ashdown cabs. When played through the more refined tecamp small rig it sounds a lot more polite, more like a sporty saloon than a out and out sports car. That is my usual gigging setup. I'm interested in what you are saying about the strings. I find that sometimes I am a little too aggressive and dark, any strings you would recommend (roundwounds)? I've got an unopened pack of EB slinkies in the house, I was thinking of putting them on.
  7. When I had to choose, I went with the micro cube. All I needed was a good small practice amp for the house, and what clinched it for me was the tuner and drum machine. All I need to practice and learn new songs is the rx, a lead and a bass. It handles my westone thunder active bass, which gives hotter output than anything else i've ever had. Forget about volume though, and the low end of the cube 30 is far superior.
  8. The bass head has two channels with similar controls (one 's got a parametric mid knob and a compressor, the other doesn't), the musician has two channels with substantially different controls (one's even got a phasor!). Manual here
  9. From what I read on fetishguitars.com, giocattoli musicali italiani used to sell cheap acoustic guitars made in yugoslavia, and the logo says GIEMMEI, which reads as GMI in italian. there's an example here.
  10.
To be totally honest im not sure if this is the guitar version of the bass head, but have used it no problem's with a bass. There's a lot of info on the net about these head's. It say's 400 on the front, but the inputs on the back say 300 at 2ohm's and 210 at 4ohm's ( but also states 800 watts near the voltage output) ive only used it with two 8 ohm cab's giving me 4 ohms, but have never had to run it past 4 on the volume's in any gig situation . Normally plug into the input that gives the selection of both channel's together. This amp is incredibly loud and solid, vinyl in good nick, small piece missing of the vent grill on top and corner'c could do with a coat of paint. £70 plus postage
The 400 on the front is the name of the series of amps, the 800W near the power cord is actual power consumption of the amplifier (not the power available to the speakers), and I've run mine (the bass version) at 2 ohm with very few problems, nothing a well placed fan couldn't handle. I nearly took the paint off the walls of the small place we were playing... I can only repeat how loud and solid these things are. A safe and dependable amp, if a little heavy for modern standards.
  11. Did you check out the new(ish) TC Electtonic combos? The 1x15 is around £500, the 2x10 just above, and they are good IMO
  12.
you can't get much more punk than a big, heavy, cheap but groundshaking peavey or trace elliot 2x15 with a peavey mkIV or old trace head to match. If you don't mind the bulk, theres some amazing deals to be had for some real quality gear.
I was about to say the same. No amount of abuse seem to trouble old peavey and trace stuff. Reasonable to good tone, volume to spare, tiny prices
  13. I've just got back some old CDs of mine from a friend, and noticed that the bassist from the Wipers can be seen playing a T40 in the picture on the actual CD! I'll take a pic and put it up as soon as I can. He can also be seen brief on this video, around 2.20/2.30 minutes in, and again at 3.40 or so, more clearly now. I love the band BTW, well worth checking out if you like this kind of punk
  14. Many thanks to Conan for his patience and understanding, and to Gavin (krispn here) for arranging pickup. I have spent 2 1/2 weeks in hospital and the same again at home recovering from severe burns, caused by burning oil. It was a very nasty cooking accident that happened at home, and is going to leave me with scars and a piece of advice: never ever lose sight of the pan when frying something, even when completely sober. Burning oil explodes when it hits the ground or anything else, and it sticks... Fortunately most of the damage is to my lower legs, so playing bass has not been affected too much (would have been a good excuse for my poor skills)
  15.
+1 I seem to remember that someone on here bought a Mk IV and a 2x15 for £60 last year. I don't think that the price was in any way representative of what they'd usually go for, but these rigs are seriously undervalued. A search of the Amps For Sale forum might give you a better idea, but personally I'd cherish it while your back still holds up.
That might have been me, I got a mark III in full working order and a blown/butchered 2x15 for £60, but that was like three years ago. Keep it if you can, i still use mine regularly, proper good amp.

  18.
Hi Have you ever used the rhythm part of this box - if so, what does it sound like - drum, click or beep! Cheers
I've used it quite a bit, the number and variations of patterns is quite large and usable, and it sounds like entry-level electronic drumkit. I found it quite useful to practice timing on certain riffs or phrases
  19.
I'd rather not. It's just a generic PSU, but it makes more sense to sell it with the pandora as a bundle. You can buy one from maplin for a few quid i think. when I get home tonight i'll post the exact specs of the PSU
Power supply: four AAA alkaline batteries: Allows 10 hours of continuous use (infrared transmitter OFF, backlight OFF) Allows 5 hours of continuous use (infrared transmitter ON, backlight OFF) separately sold AC adapter (DC 4.5V: ) I think you just need a AC-DC adapter at 4.5V, very low wattage (10W would be plenty and then some) The manual here may have more info (page 41/42)
  20.
Would you consider selling PSU seperately?
I'd rather not. It's just a generic PSU, but it makes more sense to sell it with the pandora as a bundle. 21.
Have a bump on me, this is a great piece of kit, especially for those with housemates/neighbours! Very decent price as well, especially with the power supply!
Cheers, i'm trying to sell it for what i paid for it, since it's in the same identical conditions.
  22. (Apologies for repeat posting) I'm selling my Korg Pandora PX4B, "Bass personal multi effect processor" according to the box. VGC, perfect working order, in its original box, includes manual and and power supply, which was not part of the original package. This is the bass specific version of the pandora. Later versions are for both bass and guitar. Fantastic for home practice, enormous amount of features, i don't need to say anything else. £65 + shipping
  23. Should this be in the effects for sale page? Any excuse for bump...
  24. Link to the songs This is the band i've played in for many years when i was still living in italy. I've started off playing bas for them, then we fell apart for a bit, so i joined another band. They reformed a little while later, with a new bass player. Once my other band disbanded i asked them if i could join them again, but the only available space was on 2nd guitar. We played several good gigs, culminating in winning a battle of the bands, which had several hours of recording as first prize. These three songs where recorded in those sessions, in late 1999. The band disbanded again after (actually during) the recording, as i was sacked and drummer and bassist fell out. The bassist stopped playing, and i've rarely seen him since. Nowadays the band exists in a comatose state, as we play occasionally when I go home, but we managed to play a gig in a mate's pub in july. I am very fond of the band, and I think we used to play really interesting and different stuff. To be honest, it got a bit too sophisticated towards the end, as no arrangement was difficult enough. The singer of the band decided to put these songs on the net, so I'd ike to share them with you. The band name is The Baddas.
