1. too many. I've dropped my american fender jazz so many times, and all it has is a couple marks on the neck. beautiful instrument
2. Get medical advice, all of you! Practise blood circulation - is it similar to pins and needles only without the 'pain'?
3. My cousin (carl Stanbridge) did basstech and it's made him a professional! He now sessions almost all the time and toured with Jason Donovan, interviewed for jamiroquai, etc.
4. Oh, and another one! My cousin is a professional bassist (Carl Stanbridge anyone?) and he was playing at a wedding for another one of my cousins, and I hear that he's playing superstition which I had just recently learnt. He then lets me play it with the wedding band. p[retty neat, until i find out that the drummer is Girls aloud's drummer and all the musicians are absolutely AMAZING. And there I am rolling out a phat Eb pretending it wasn't my first ever live performance!
5. Mine was last week! Only slightly musically related! Sitting in Abu Dhabi in a friend's Mum's work friend's flat with a friend of her's in a room where about 5 or 6 people would be sleeping when they got back from going out, talking to Baz (my friend who I went to abu dhabi with) and the said first friend offers us ticket's to friday's FORMULA 1 free practise in the grandstand. Fast forward 24 hours and I use the same ticket to get in (for free, remember) to the huge ferrari building to see jamiroquai play live at the 3rd row out of about 8,000-10,000 people. Absolutely surreal.
6. well done on getting it all organised anyway. Shame I missed out on them, but take that well needed break!
7. bump maybe? This seems really important haha. I'll definitely buy an/my first issue of BGM if this happens
8. to be fair, I heard jamiroquai the other night - JK sounded awesome live, played it back on my mate's sound recorder and it was diabolical! Not sure why.... Sounds interesting about the monitors, but why have them there with all of the moving, etc. I mean, surely they can hide a black box on them somewhere, and they could hear themselves clearer? I dunno!
9.
Well done for winning it . Whens the track going to be ready? (Shoulda made it a 45 min long track )
with 12 different sections. Heck you could split them up on audacity when you get home!
10.
Well, this is one of those situations where someone complains about their diamond shoes being too tight, or their wallet being too small for the their money, but here goes: I've got tickets to see Tower of Power ...
WOOOO!!! TOWER OF POWERR!!! YYEAHHHHHH what was the question?
11. I'd be up for a vid or if you can find some sound clips that'd be great. Just sold my OD because I usually used it for very subtle tone changes.
12. Bass --> EHX BMS --> TU-2 --> Jim D bass wah --> (now sold) ODB-3 --> hartke bass attack --> amp Now why i use them: -BMS: for when i want to play an octave down, or in my most recent band, play a low E for our rocked up cover of 'crazy' by gnarles barkley in e on a really long filter sweep - the only synthy madness I use -TU-2: to stay in tune. I have a seperate mute pedal as well so I can see if I'm in tune all the time. -wah - for quiter numbers with no bass at all i use it to shape a bit of tone with no sweep at all. I either have it very foot up and high notes being played for more bass on the high chords or I have it the opposite for taking away the stomach grumbles people get from my regular tone. -ODB-3 for a bit of warm grit very occassionally. I use it to really boost the bass and to chunk up the distortion for the guitarist. -0Hartke bass attach simply for it's shaping stuff. i loveee the tone it gives. I like a clean tone of a bass, and each of the pedals I use at least 3 times in a typical christian worship music set!
13. I dont really know. I hope that the audience will appreciate the sounds coming from the bass rather than what I look like. I suppose that I do try and looka t the audience, but it's all about confidence. if you don't have confidence, then you will end up staring at the neck, and the crowd will latch onto it (they all have psycic abilities to see if we're nervous) and not join in as much as if you are doing backflips, swinging the bass around your neck
14. Anyone know of any? I'm here for 10 days (a VERY packed 10 days) and I am looking for a place to get my bass buying/playing fix. (not that I'd buy a bass - wouldnt be able to get it home)
15. wow! Won't be here for long.. If it is then it's coming to me haha
16. top bloke! Bought a delay from him - excellent communication, was packaged safely and wel - item as described (i.e. in pristine condition!). Smoothest transaction I've had. Oh yeah and he got it to me ugently and cared that it would get here in time! top bloke. -Clam
17. I used to tab a few things, but soon realised that for the amount of time it takes to tab things out - I really couldn't be bothered, so I stopped.
18. the most BEAUTIFUL song on the planet: yesterdays by switchfoot. simply amazing song melodically with the bass and guitar playing harmonies. Soudns awesome and is the nicest thing to play before giong to sleep... I really want it at my funeral!
19. Check out Todd Lawton and TobyMac diverse city band if you need some inspiration! Simple stuff... some of it, but really effective!
20. I've just tried out the blackstar in bonners thorough a trace elliot (hate em things, but the clean sounded ok). This thing is AMAZING! I don't have the money for one (too much self control saving for a mac). But for everyone else- get it! It sounds just like an OD should IMO. I've just sold my old ODB-3 and I think that this is miles ahead from it. The bass doesn't loose out at all, and you get from that lovely warm slight tube OD right up to a really heavy OD that is brinking on distortion? Anyway I love it!
21. wow, 65 basses in just over 25 years. So that's at least 5 every couple of years haha
22. Damn! Another thing I'm missing when I'm in Dubai! bargh!
23. I've got a TU-2. It's tracking is painfully slow, innacurate, and, frankly, a bit all over the place. Still, no one - and I mean no one - can tell the difference when I tune from going 1 red dot to the left to a green dot in the middle. I don't get why people want to be in tune to a millionth of a cent. sounds like OCD to me.
