OCTOBER COMPOSITION CHALLENGE - Voting Time
lurksalot replied to lurksalot's topic in General Discussion
Voted π the ettiquette that dictates the entrants not vote for their own , does limit the choice a touch this month π -
OK All , no problems , the voting thread for the shootout between me and Dad is up and running
-
Voting Time is here ladies and gents . your choice is a little limited this month with just the 2 to choose from so ultimately it is a shoot out between my self and Dad enjoy and just 1 vote I guess Dad3353 Lurksalot Voting will close at midnight on Halloween
-
That's a shame , it is very sparse for entries this month , which is odd considering the prize giveaway I had planned π
-
nice one Douglas , that feels just right !
-
Does anyones ears not bleed , does anyone not feel the need to rip there own face off , does anyone not put a foot through the speakers reproducing the sound ..................... of the bagpipes Its a rule made in jest so as not to inflict the sound on any members who happen to listen to the compositions entered. I dont know anyone who likes the sound of satans bag of wind . except oddly, a cousin, who had a piper pipe him and his wife to their wedding reception , I was already at the bar, so I only heard the story, not the noise

Reaper Help please. Using FX when recording and playback
lurksalot replied to Thunderpaws's topic in Recording
On the track details when they are on the left of the screen, just below the name box , there is a monitoring button , if you press it to on , I hear the FX back through the interface . -
A pretty much empty pub tonight , but I guess the weather didn't help , it was truly awful . We played fine though , I have however given my notice , so it's either early December or a bit sooner if they get a replacement . Drums and singist are gutted , but understand my reasons , guitar didn't stay for the chat so I had to text him.

I'm not looking at personell changes particularly, I have just come to think that I have a lot I can do on a weekend that the band now has to compete with , whereas before I just had a pretty open diary for the band . Replacing the bass player would also mean them getting a PA, learning how to use it, getting bigger cars to carry it, investing in a lighting set up and learning how to use it π

Er, excuse me , the mods are on hand for just such an emergency π

I'm probably just a bit wound up, but I was at a funeral the day before and returned the 200 miles on the morning of the gig when I could have had the weekend with family I don't see very often. It kind of brings into focus how many invites I turn down through band commitments and I am close to a tipping point. I'll see how this Fridays gig works out and make the call next weekend I reckon.

Bit of a downer tonight at the soundcheck I ask the guitar to turn his rhythm crunch down a bit , lead as loud as he likes, But to leave some room for the vocal. It used to be a constant bone of contention when we had a rhythm guitarist but since he left there seems to have been less loudness wars ....until tonight. Sulking and stropping and a lack of concentration, he really let the side down, yet made out it was my fault for picking on his volume . Its gigs like this that make me consider jacking it in , I have got plenty of visiting , partying and days away I can do instead of putting up with this stinky poo. Its what caused the hiatus when the other guitar left , we all assumed it was over but clawed it back and while the last 2 years have been great , I won't be trying too hard to pull it back again this time around βΉοΈ

I only just made it by the skin of my teeth ! -
OK , I had a riff in my head and kept this very, very simple . The production glitches are still in but the inspirational Bosch Rotak 16 is calling me and as I have only cut the grass twice all year , I fear some time investment is required in that direction Lazing on a sunny half the moon

I have only got half a chance this month βΉοΈ I had two weeks off in August and came back to a stupidly full diary , and now I'm getting clicks on reaper , which is not reapers fault , but I can't get to the bottom of it , a rethink of my computing set-up is maybe on the horizon if funds become available

2 this weekend , a welcome return to the scene after our normal August break but then a further enforced rest due to the singer/rhythm guitar being in a RTA and suffering a broken shoulder, damaged ribs and lots of bruising . it appears that he has maintained enough fitness to hold his voice , but as we normally only do 1 gig a weekend, we had stipulated in advance that we would be strict on the 45min set sizes the first party on the Friday was a PTA gig, 50th anniversary for 100 peeps , lovely room , great sound but very difficult to get a rappor , as we were very late getting on due to raffles , auctions etc we played on and we were asked to let the DJ take over at 11.15 so we only played an hour . The DJ was a proper club type and it was boom boom boom boom , and loud , and loads were ready for it . the night felt a proper let down , but chatting this afternoon with the organisers , they had lots of feedback that the room was pretty much split , and that it wasn't full of Ibiza type clubbers and that plenty had really enjoyed our set . But tonight was at a garden party , early start early finish and was an absolute blast , a pleasure to play and the sort of gig you would play every day , just about everyone was dancing and singing along. 2 decent paying parties but massively different vibes.
