Another thing that might be good would be to have the logo/slogan on one side towards your shoulder so that people wouldn't have to stare directly at your breasts in order to read it! :-)
Apple have a new product for that based on the ipod , the i-breast , it is especially for issues when women complain that blokes keep staring at their breasts and not listening to them .
2. Excellent stuff BlackDog , Can you post up the event details and I will add it to the map
3. it is a great song and comes across really well as it is TBH , it sounds clean and crisp , a fuller version might be good also , but I like this anyway .
4. Niges comment on the track fits very well ..........superb , I really enjoyed that . I shall keep my ears out for the album
5. I don't know enough about that , but I had the same thought with mine.
6. Cheers Paul , I try, but I am starting by attempting to keep it simple and trying at least 1 technique each time I open up Reaper .
7. Cheers all , some great Ideas , I am leaning towards the Hercules jobbies , as I can tilt them to 45 degrees and stack them a bit tighter , those climbing grips look doody , but alas I am afraid of heights . I shall consider a little longer then make a decision when I am told what I am allowed .
8.
If the body is very close to the wall then the standard round door stops or amp feet will be perfect. recessed screw holes to. A quick look round any hardware store will give you lots of ideas and solutions. It might be better if they did touch the body. This will be more stable. Only drawback with this is just make sure your body finish wont be tainted or react with the rubber or whatever. A
I am with you totally , you have helped evolve the idea , I have since googled some closed cell foam stuff , and that is up to 20mm thick , and might be a little more aesthetic if cut to shape . Mrs Lurks might be a tad , shall we say , objectionable , to having door stops screwed all over our brand new brickwork . Custom made always wins if compared to B&Q , even if who is doing the customising is not entirely transparant . excellent point about the contact point reaction , I will investigate that one .
9. Bert I guess Kiwi wont have a guest spot on the next PF album , but then I guess some of PF wont either , it must be hard for Kiwi (and Ped) having to let his (their) baby grow up, answer back and then having to bite his tongue to let it carry on growing , granted you can teach your kids how to approach certain situations , but (while I missed the initial spat) the guests can also sometimes forget that whatever their status , they are still guests. I have no Idea of the relevance of my observations, and I am sure you are correct in in yours , you always seem to be very level headed. If it is a Kiwi support post , I am with you, but I missed the bit where it went pear shaped , If it is all the right shape now , maybe OP could edit the the thread title to reflect this.
10.
http://img.photobuck...ne/P1010059.jpg I'm not there now, but I have the brackets lying here in a drawer. G.
thats the idea , yours looks superb , Are you just careful hanging them up then ? ed to add 'superb' being used with the noted excess of strings
11.
You are not being a fanny. Get some rubber blocks 2"x4"x2" ish. Secure them to the wall where the body would normally meet the wall. You would need to recess the fixing screwholes etc and it would look a little odd when the guitar isn't hanging but it would work a treat. I saw this at a bar we used to drink in, in Ireland and thought what a clever idea. I'm not sure if it was home manufactured or bought as it was quite well done but I'm sure it would be easy to replicate. Their walls were stone. Good luck.
it seems like there are some good ideas on this one , excellent , and hearing a story of its application is top , I could even use some odd shapes and make them a feature , , I think I will see what I can get by Mrs Lurks . many thanks guys ed to add , Thinking on, a bit of mastic will stick the pads to the wall , they will have no load and in theory won't even get touched , but are there if needed . I feel a plan coming on . Photos will ensue when I get round to it .
12.
Masonry drill and some deep seated wall plugs. Or expanding bolts. I have 5 guitars hanging from a 10mm plasterboard wall
I reckon I can nail the things to the wall Tony , I built the room , appreciatte the input though
One or two small rubber faced protrusions placed behind where the body will be will solve the problem. One of those springy door stops maybe? You wont see them when hung and will be very inconspicuos when visible. A
This has legs , I like it
13. Ive heard it of Berts version aswell , same with lyrics , write them and post them back . it will probably come to nowt anyway.
14. I have seen a few brands of wall hangers that all seem to work , and have seen some lovely displays of bass guitars and other stringed instruments adorning the walls , however, as a recent decorative and 'trendy' renovation to our music room , we have brick faced a couple of walls that are where I wanted to hang my collection , the problem I have, is that while decorated plaster finishes are quite benign to the odd bit of guitar/wall interface , I fear absolutely, that barefaced brickwork is somewhat less so. I don't have a problem in myself or the family using my guitars, and accept the inevitable , I am no kit prima donna , but I don't want to tempt fate in this way. Does anyone have any top ideas or proven solutions that will both retain the the look of a brick wall , yet provide enough protection for my axes . I could always be being a fanny, and there is no issue , that conclusion from a voice of experience would also be good . TIA
15. Superb gig tonight , we played as solid all the way through as we ever have , with the added advantage of a clean sound . As I am learning to mix recordings I applied some of the thinking to our sound and Rhythm guitar is fantastic, he did what I asked and we all seemed to have sooooo much more space to play in without resorting to volume wars , maybe the room helped , I dont know , but the feedback we had was awesome , I really think we have stepped up , chuffed to bits . Gutted for you Jezza , it can't be nice that , if he cant do it in rehearsal though , I would not have put the show on .
16. great story , all the better for the pics , but I doubt very much if there ar any pics of me playing when I was a lad , I cant even recall seeing any of my younger brother who played in a proper band for a while, those pictures are to cherish .
17. Do the exhibitors give 'show' prices , and good deals on the day ?

19. Wow Mike , I am just reading your book , for the third time , I must admit it went over my head the first time , started to make a few things click the second time , but this time I am starting to see a load of wood through the trees . A real insight well done. Our BC Mentor, Si , is great at advice and is really helpful aswell , even to the point of hosting the competition , top man .
20. PRACTICE ............... Its jazz , just go with the flow , mines upbeat aswell, when I say upbeat, as its jazz I am not really sure where the beat is , but I'm guessing.....up
21.
hooray for Nantwich indeed lol
I am not quite sure I said that But a big thumbs up for the Easter music festival and Cheese , there are a few cheese related threads that might be of interest as it happpens , who'd have thought
22. I have something down now , I am unsure whether it needs vocal embellishment or not , but it needs a title , to point the listener to the correct vibe tying the pictures in more than anything , but 'Doo Wap Dandelions in Dyfed' , doesnt really do it , but 'Hypericum of Harlem' ..........Hmmmmm.
23. Welcome Guy , If you were at a loose end at all, you could join us in the monthly composition competition , though nailing one , getting 1 million votes, and going platinum would be considered a touch over the top
24. Welcome Kev I am just up the 51 from you, not too far the other side of the Tar You might enjoy it here , loads of great advice and one or two characters , some quality SOH makes too many threads unmissable , Enjoy your stay
25.
I think the ideas can come reasonaly quickly but, like someone said, its 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. I get a melody or chored sequence or some other concept going (a riff, a theme, a rhythmic idea etc) and then, like clay, start moulding it. The first bit is easy, the second bit is where the real work takes place. Sometimes it comes easily, sometimes it is like pulling teeth. I have read a lot about composing and most composers say the same. Some things just land in your lap, other things take forever to come together.
I have only just started to record , pretty much for the BC competition , and thus someone else provides the clue for the inspiration bit so its 99.9 % perspiration for me
