  1. Ive never heard of Bartolini Quarter pounders. I guess you mean Seymore Duncans. Just go for the Bartolini Original Jazz pickups. They won't dissapoint. I have them in my Sei Jazz and they smoke many others like Nordstrand etc imo.. Just make sure the size is correct for each cavity.
  2. What are Jazz Pickup rings and what are they for.?
  3. I've always loved these particular Fenders and I'm amazed why Fender dont excite the bass guitar world with basses like them since. BTW You can achieve a very low action on basses sub £500, and incredibly playable. But its your bass.you charge what you want. It would a shame to leave this bass in its case. With all respect and I know I shouldn't say it but £2400 is just way out there for a QMT deluxe Jazz. Even in brand new condition.
  4. That slap tone is just...
  5. You could probably get a second hand Sire Jazz for near the price of a new J Retro preamp. Sire Heritage preamps sound amazing. There a no brainer.
  6. Its just GAS. I love the Sei, But the Shuker's look lovely. Holy Moly.
  7. Really great Jazz basses these. GLWTS.
  8. Trust in John East. Learn how it works. When you do It's the best preamp in the business of bass preamps. Imo.
  9. An audition is when you know what your auditioning for. What songs do you want to play. They wanted a juke box on the spot. I tried to jam they couldn't. I'm out
  10. Im literally dribbling looking at some John's J basses. Wondering wether to sell the Sei to get one. This is GAS in its purest form. The grass is always greener. But WOW http://shukerguitars.co.uk/j-bass/
  11. That was my second bass. I thought it sounded great. But an East Uni pre would be the way to go. I have one in my Sei Jazz with Bartolini's and its immense.
  12. Apparently he was fired from Toto due to his cocaine abuse and a drug bust, probably the reasons behind his lack of focus with his voice.
  13. Joe Williams kicks donkey also. But he's no Bobby Kimball in his prime.. imo. Great great band anyway.
  14. Yep that is a bargain. Lovely bass.
  15. Anyone stop to think he might be having personal problems.? For me Bobby has payed his dues an is an epic singer.
  16. Ok so I got a message asking if I could come along to a rehearsal/jam. Funk/disco etc. Im thinking cool, I love a jam, my favourite genre. Set up and the guitarist and drummer ask me how many basslines I know on the spot. I say, well I know Chic's good Times, For Once in my Life, Patrice Rushen's Forget me Nots. 3 was enough for 2 hours I thought. I know them like the back of my hand. Start with Good times, open strings etc. The song has a rhythm guitar all the way through. The guitarist had some sort of effects board that was a meter long. 4 bars in the guy starts soloing. So I stop playing. I ask in a polite manner, Nile Roger's doesn't play a solo on this. They then ask what else do I know. So I start the slap part from Forget me Nots. He's playing the keys part on the guitar, and low and behold he starts soling again.. They then said lets just have a jam, so I'm like ok lets play over a C minor. a simple as simple is. Hugely awkward. The drummer had no timing at all and played like a wet lettuce. There was no groove going on. IMO I played everything required, with a few light fills here and there. Left the building sharpish. Then got a call the next day saying I wasn't right for them and didn't know enough material for them to get going live. Really.? I think you both shouldn't be playing music. Im not offended and was glad I got out of there.. I was totally baffled by the whole experience. Probably the worst musical encounter ever. end of rant.
  17. Second Hand Mac Pro. Update to OS Mojave. I have a 2014 MBP and it is so quick.
  18. Beautiful!!!
  19. I presume this is a neck through.?
  20. Excellent stuff from Rebecca and her band. , Ive got to be honest, this is some of the nicest slap playing I've heard for a while ( its so tasteful and for the song) as her fingerstyle playing and voice. A totally brilliant groove talent she is . IMO.
