  1. Long time favorite. Same them live in London. Real Love is a cracker.
  2. A jam in my experience is made up on the spot.
  3. Don't we all love the member with a great memory to remind you what you had forgotten you had posted.
  4. Ok so I own a Sei Jazz 5 as some might know. Probably sonically the best bass I've ever experienced.I play it through some Beyer Dynamic DT 990's so im getting a great reproduction of the instrument. The feel the weight, the neck is just out of this world comfortable. Strangely I prefer it with East preamp turned off (although I do love some beef that it gives so I do use it for certain genres so its a tool I turn on and off). But Its just perfection all across the fretboard, no dead notes, no change in volume string to string. Every note just sings with perfection clarity. Then I watch videos of people having orgasmic (literally) experiences over StenBack and Alleva Jazz basses and I'm wondering, How, why, and what is Tom and Jimmy, Celinder etc doing to there basses that are that much better. Im sure this totally subjective, but I would like to give Tom StenBack my Sei Jazz and see how he could make it better sounding. Im genuinely interested. At nearly £6000 they are asking a lot for an instrument. There not paying NewYork renting rates apart from Jimmy of course.. My Sei with its spec would cost £3600. I just cannot see where the extra £2000+ goes into which is essentially a Jazz Bass. And its just painted. Its not like its got a sexy cocobolo top multi laminated crushed maple, 200 piece neck with gold inlays. Im not knocking them im just genuinely curious. Like I said what on earth would Tom Stenback do to my Sei to make it feel and sound better.. Maybe build it again from scratch.? 😂
  5. Not heard a lot of this band or know much about them, But I think I will delve deeper as this is fantastic.
  6. Don't know how Mr East does it, but he's very clever. Ive always loved Bartolini's.Yes Im a DR and Bartolini fan boy. Has anyone ever wondered why the top boutique maker's put Barts in there basses.? Just wondering.
  7. 12lbs. I could do that sitting in a studio playing, but I really couldn't play a bass that heavy for 2 hours standing. ..This thing sounds like a modern Jazz bass, epic East pre, I just love what it can do. Light weight Jazz for me. Sounds like a Jazz should when in passive.. The sound that comes from this when slapped and popped in active just sounds epic..Has quite a flat radius, so really good for chords etc. Blows the Sadowsky RV5 I had away. Bartolini's with an East pre are a winning combo ... imo
  8. Custom. Unless your unlucky, stinky poo sorry I meant to say lucky enough to find a Fender Jazz at a decent weight.
  9. There is no reason for a bass to be a heavy lump that you have to struggle to play. Electric bass makers by now should know this. Sire seem to have missed the ball on this issue. BUT. Everyone is different physically. My Sei Jazz, made of swamp ash is 8.2 pounds, and is perfection. But the Sire 5vers I've played are too heavy.. I really don't like a heavy bass.
  10. That is a bargain if ive ever seen one.. Ive owned 2 now. Pro sounding and feeling instruments are the 55-02's
  11. Think I may have seen them 12 times now with my sister and various Incognito lover's. I adore Randy's playing, especially his fretless playing on Tribes Vibes and Scribes. But Ernie Mckone's playing on this this record is up there with the best playing I've ever heard on any record ever. He is just smokin. He's all over that groove. His playing near the end of this record is just WOW... imo A Bit Like Julian Crampton on a Down to the Bone record. ✌️
  12. Well I enjoyed it.
  13. Thanks for the info guys. I like the Sony MDR's. Heard some great reviews. Amazon have a good deal on the Beyer 990's. Mick the little one is doing great. As are the other two little pain in the derrière Dachshunds. I used to have a pair of Beyer Dynamic DT990's but the dog destroyed them. Yes the pup nearly died that day, he also destroyed my Sadowsky strap, then I got a new one from Molan(Barrie), then he chewed the end of that one. I was stupid enough to leave them lying around. Anyways I may spend the extra and get another pair of DT990's and not get a Turkey and Goose this year for the family. so were having sprouts ,stuffing, carrots, potatoes, pigs in blankets gravy and crackers..They will just have to deal with it 😆
  14. Hey can anyone recommend some headphones for bass practice with a really long lead. I have a budget of around £50/70 roughly. The lead needs to be at least 2 metres long. Prefer if there open backed. No Beats recommendations please. Cheers.
  15. Not the album. I just love em. . They always come out with the finest. imo.
  16. I've had 3 V7s. Two 5 strings, ash and alder and a Vintage 4. I don't think there was anything wrong with the bridge or tuners apart from an aesthetic point of view. My problem was the weight. The tone of all of them was just fabulous though.
  17. Just remember without bass the music is like a house without foundation. Stand yor ground.
  18. I bought a brand new Fender 1975 RI Jazz. Put it in the hard case. (Without clipping it shut) Picked up said hard case and the bass went downwards on to the tarmac with the most horrible noise. Shocking moment.
  19. If you know your notes(especially notes) on a 4 string /scales etc. You should be able to switch between 4/5/6/7. The bass has the same notes/scales all the way up the fret board. If you don't know them you haven't practiced enough. Extended range basses are nothing to be scared of. IMO. In fact they are easier because your hand that plays the notes/ scales dont have to move as far. And they are better for your brain because your having to think ahead more. I will always be a 5 string player. Going to 4 is easier because of the pure physicality of the neck slimness, but I have to jump up the neck a lot more.
  20. Putting in a great preamp with bad pickups is the wrong way around for me. The pickups are the first contact for a good sound. A good preamp will compliment the good pickups.
  21. Not sure about second hand , but try Wizard pickups. Or Some second hand Fender USA single coils.
  22. Control.
  23. Ive never heard of Bartolini Quarter pounders. I guess you mean Seymore Duncans. Just go for the Bartolini Original Jazz pickups. They won't dissapoint. I have them in my Sei Jazz and they smoke many others like Nordstrand etc imo.. Just make sure the size is correct for each cavity.
  24. What are Jazz Pickup rings and what are they for.?
