3.
I would personally compare Skylines to Fender USA, and Lakland USA to Fender Custom Shop. I have never liked any Fender more than the Skylines I've played.
i woulld say on both counts Lakland are better
Guys - just thought you'd like to know Incognito are playing in June as part of BluesFest London, I've never seen them live and regret missing them at Ronnie Scotts last year; http://www.bluesfestlondon.com/component/e...ils/2-incognito Should be good Mike
that sounds good.. im sure you would love them Mike.. i remember seeing them at the Jazz Cafe,,, everything was silent, then they just came out with 'closer to the feeling'.. the horns were frickin awsome!!...i nearly dropped my pint..
 9.
That playing by Crampton on that track is killer!! I have Tales From The Beach and Transatlantic RPM on in the car all the time and just love the bass work on those albums. Mind you like Andrew I think RHT on Tribes, Vibes & Scribes or Positivity really takes some beating.
im with you Mark..those two albums, although now very old, really are my favorite albums. Tribes being very close to my heart....There is knowone like Randy for groove and very musical playing...
 10.
She's using a Ritter Cora apparently: From Jens Ritter himself: “Last July Superstar Mary J Blige felt in love with my CORA 5-String Bass. She immediately custom ordered one and I delivered it to her recently. Now she’s an official new JENS RITTER INSTRUMENTS Player! STANDARD CUSTOMER – No Endorser! The additional cool news is: She started to take Bass Lessons because of the Cora!” I hear the Cora is the most 'jazz-like' of Jens' basses - I really like the look of these, would love to try one out!
i gotta feeling Barrie's gassing for a Ritter!? i myself would love to play a Cora.. love them..
 11. will do straight trade for Fodera
 12.
Awesome stuff - not really bothered about the bass solo, but what a band and he's a great bassist too - just class. Nice bit of audio-sunshine to start the day - love the radio clip as well - just shows you don't need a drummer to groove! Thanks for posting Mike
ive got to agree with Mike..not feeling that solo... thats being very cinical.. his groove playing is really wonderful though without doubt i do love Julian Crampton's playing on this track...he seems to balance groove with technique so well.... killer playing.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBuaotpfulw its Julian and Randy for me.
 13. One of the (imo) best soul singers of our time is/has been pickin up the bass.. shes chosen Ritter i believe..ive heard shes practicing on a Fender jazz...cummon, what else... i just love the fact that an artist like that is learning on a good ole Jazz bass i cant wait to see what shes got comin...
 14. i really think with the right EQ you can put a funk feel and sound into any bass..Meshell does it with a Les Paul bass, not the most funky bass, from most peoples perspective... it really is in the fingers.. but this is not really the point the OP is wanting.. i guess the bass you may be wanting for a funk feel is a stingray or a jazz..the difference being the active passive route... i love the funky sound from a Yamaha TRB 6 JP but im betting the OP went to sleep a few threads ago and bought a recorder... this says it all to me..the vid with Meshell and the Gibson.. 15. i had to put this out there for people who may not read the funk and groove thread.. the more i listen to this band..the band being Pleasure.. the more i listen ( Mark, AKA, Gunsfreddy, introduced this band to me) the more i like them, a bit like Maze i love them, but in a different way... Pleasure are so much more than just a funk band that are not really known by many.. they are really great soul groove..imo.. great detail in the awsome bass playing......without wanting to sound dismissive,....the rest of the music is amazing also.. especially the rythm guitar... i just ADORE this track.. just sayin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5Gm08JM2Bs cheers Mark..
 16. Donald Byrd ....my favorite jazz funk man, with my fav jazz funk track.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B772m71cd5Q
 17. Ohio players..classic track.. you got to listen to this through either speakers or headphones.. its a crackin track... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puks6UTw1EQ
